Fantastic experience: We rented with StarPointe for a year and when it came to finding a bigger home for me and my family they were very helpful, they took there time to help us with a perfect search and when we finished our lease with the old home they helped and gave advice of what all they look for when we do the move out process. Negative experience: "Losing" part of someone's application, miraculously finding it, and then denying them within 10 minutes with no reason, for a house (that's been sitting up for almost a year) that has immense damage and needs repairs, yard work, doors off hinges, ceiling bubbled out from a roof leak. This, with the other reviews we should have looked at before spending money on an application, leads me to believe you just collect homeowners money and let houses sit without any real want to rent them out. ETA: Nope! This is the correct company. This review is written for someone you did all of this to. And according to your other reviews, we arent the only ones! For anyone reading, the property at 1806 Glendale in Killeen has roof leaks and a bubbled out ceiling in the living room, a door completely off the hinges and lying on the ground outside, no landscaping upkeep, o opkeep to the pool area, master bedroom wall is soft and not level. Among other things.

Negative experience: You can find me on socials if you want the full story, but let me be very clear: I would NOT trust this company at all. They took my money fast, handed me a home full of problems, and then tried to pretend they ‘had no idea’—even though their own repair techs told me otherwise. I have recordings to back up every word of it. They denied my esa animals after my 4k deposit. The only thing they mentioned was wrong was the ac broke day of signing I’m sure that’s a lie… workers said it was terribly hot months before and it didn’t work. They hire whoever to do the repairs and everything is done on a home warranty that seems to be illegal ..one even brought his dog! This company has been nothing but a headache. The homes are not worth it, the treatment is not worth it, and the lack of accountability is unbelievable. I will be filing suit. My advice: stay far away and rent from literally anyone else.

Negative experience: For the most part living in the home on Tracy Cir was ok. When the home starting showing serious foundational issues we reported. Nothing was done, now that we are moving it's been nothing but a headache with StarPointe. I've kept detailed records and photos as I can see now we will probably end up in litigation. They are even attempting to show the property in its current state with the siding falling off and cracks in every wall. Be aware and document document document. We can't even pack and move in peace, their attempting to show the house in disrepair. And if they say this isn't true I have photos. I will update my review after the move out process.

Negative experience: Wish I had read these reviews sooner. I saw a review that stated they will ask for all personal information and then deny you, this is absolutely true. I submitted everything that was requested on the initial application(4 stubs, Id and ssn) Then they asked for a w2 which I provided, then they asked for a full tax return, which I provided, then they asked me to come in person to supply the same documents that I sent in to be granted access to tour the property! The documents were validated through their link and I was given a code however when it came time for approval they didn’t accept them. It screams scam and possible discrimination. Bottom line is I feel like they are collecting peoples information to use for illicit reasons.

Negative experience: Do not rent with this company. They will come up with unwarranted reasons to keep your deposit AND charge you even more, then they’ll send it to collections which isn’t really collections, it’s just their office. And they won’t call you back or return any emails regarding the “collections”.

Positive experience: I give this company a 3 star rating because although the staff is amazing, the process of getting a home is a bit stressful. The listing prices are one thing but their are hidden fees that you don't really find out about until later. I've traveled a lot due to the military and I've never experienced this. For example: I paid an initial $55 application fee. And I know I have nothing negative on my background and my credit score is not below 600, however, I was still informed "due to what was found on your credit check I have to pay an additional $1000 for an application". (But I thought I already paid for the application.) It just seems like someone was trying to find a way to get me to pay first months rent and a deposit without actually saying that. Outside of these fee's, the communication was initially iffy. But once I got approved and paid the extra fee, they realized I was serious and communication with StarPointe Realty became better. Ultimately, it's a great company to buy or rent from but just make sure to ask questions for clarification.

Negative experience: Stay as far away from these people as possible. They will request all of your personal documents and then give you a denial for no justification. I have been approved for every other house I applied for , unfortunately the house I truly wanted to rent is managed by them . They denied us based on having to many phone numbers and a credit score that was no where near what the credit bureau has on file . ( who knows were they pull there info from ) After viewing the property we were told that it is for sale and if a offer is made than we wouldn’t be considered, right after they happily accepted our application fees . They will request documentation for things that are irrelevant to the leasing process. I should have looked at the reviews first and saved my self a lot of trouble and invasion of my privacy

Negative experience: Stay clear!!! What company requires a wall through inspection of your place every 90 days? They intentionally give you a hard time vacating a property. They requirements are non sense and there is a fee for everything from utilities, key drop off time, the inspection company to do walk through. They have no real intentions of returning any deposit.

Negative experience: ***RENTERS BEWARE*** After moving out, the company declared we owed $1700 in damages. These “damages” were documented with video and photos the day before we moved in, and stored on a flash drive with our supporting documents. We were told we had two months to pay or they’d send us to collections. We referred them to the flash drive and got ghosted for 3 months, ignored all emails and phone inquiries until out of nowhere, a collections agency contacted us demanding the extortion fee or face fines. We had to contact my DEPLOYED grandson to inform him that this company wanted more money from him, even after he took such good care of our home. In the end, his wife and I had to negotiate a $200 settlement that I had to pay as my grandson has more than enough do deal with. Never in my days have I experienced such piracy! To think he put hundreds of dollars into maintaining and reviving that property’s decaying yard just for this to happen while he’s thousands of miles away! Not to mention they wouldn’t provide an itemized invoice of the repairs needed, which I’m not sure is even legal. If only we had the time and money, we would have done something about this.

Negative experience: Update Oct 27, 2024 This house is still on the market even after reducing the price by $150 and offering 1/2 off the first months rent! Looks like people are actually seeing the deceitful nature of this company and staying away. Did we overpay for 2 years or is the company desperate? If there’s one thing I notice in all of their negative reviews, not one had a reply apologizing for any displeasure or taking any accountability. In fact, every negative review has a response in stating that person did something wrong. God Bless America. To be honest the only reason we left the home after 2 years was because of this Management company. We lived at 4605 Prewitt Ranch Rd in Killeen TX, paid $2600/mo for over 2 year (over 55k in rent) Never missed a payment, never was late, spent thousands of dollars in maintaining the home only for a rep to threaten to fine us because we had a kids trampoline in the backyard! Literally after 2 years of never having an issue (the trampoline was there the entire time) they just decided to randomly message us with a “do this now or else message”. When we asked for clarification on why, the rep told us to read our lease agreement! Somewhere in the fine print it states nothing can be in the backyard. So then we read the fine print and let me tell you it’s probably the scariest agreement we have ever signed. I believe most people use this company out of desperation because no one in their right mind would use them if they read the agreement. For us it was just convenient to have a home near FT Cavazos but once we had that interaction we realized convenience isn’t enough to stay somewhere you’re not respected. This company doesn’t care about loyalty. Every 3-6 months they do an onsite inspection in your home, and they could care less about simple request. We have kids, we don’t wear our shoes in the home and we would provide booties for the inspectors to wear before they walk around the home thinking they would respect our wishes and appreciate the fact we keep the home clean. They couldn’t care less, they never put them on and because we weren’t home they probably thought we didn’t know. No integrity. My wife and I have 800 credit scores and we still had to pay 1.5 months rent as a deposit ($3600). Insane but again it wasn’t a big deal for us because the house was conveniently located. I could only imagine families that didn’t have that luxury and what they go through. On our move out we dropped off our keys, we left our receipt showing Molly Maids completed a final cleaning (we paid over $400 to do to make sure the house was move in ready) and somehow still got charged $180 for cleaning. When I inquired why we were charged and explained if something was missed the point of us providing the receipt is so you can call and have them resolve the issue they responded we would have to call them and get a credit. No actual receipt showing us they spent $180 like we showed them we spent over $400 just a line item stating this is what it cost. I am 1000% positive this company would have tried to find as much as they could to prevent having to give us our deposit back we just kept the house so well maintained they couldn’t. We will never use them again. If I were the owner I would be extremely upset to learn they lost really good tenants because of a lack of respect and as it stands over 2 months later they’re struggling to find another renter. I wonder why? I’m a proud American, I fought for my Country and I don’t argue with companies I just take my money elsewhere when they show us who they really are.

Hello, in regards to the fine print of our lease, all tenants sit and watch a 26 minute video covering the Texas Realtors lease and sit with our operations manager to again review the lease paragraph by paragraph to ensure everyone signing the lease fully understands what they are signing. In accordance with your lease (paragraph 12 D) trampolines are not authorized on our properties. This is standard on every Texas Realtors lease. You were not posted with a violation or charge, but given the chance to remove the trampoline. Also, our base security deposits are always 1.5 x's the monthly rent. We did attempt to recall the cleaners you hired and they refused to come back and clean the missed areas. We did email you photos showing the areas missed by the cleaners you had hired prior to turning in the keys. All tenants are provided a move-out cleaning checklist detailing the areas we will be inspecting. StarPointe Realty Management does not mark up any maintenance, nor do we perform any maintenance or cleaning. Everything is contracted out and tenants/owners are only billed what the vendor billed us to perform the task assigned. You also mentioned that you left the home due to our company, but my records show that you in fact provided a forwarding address in San Antonio where you would be moving to. We hope this clarifies any misunderstandings. Thank you!

Negative experience: I AM A CURRENT TENANT PLEASE LISTEN TO WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS MONEY HUNGRY RENTAL COMPANY. THEY PUT A $500 CHARGE ON MY ACCOUNT FOR DAMAGED FLOORING WITHOUT A MOVE OUT INSPECTION TO ACCESS DAMAGES THEY PUT IT ON MY ACCOUNT PRIOR TO MY LAST MONTH PAYMENT SO THAT ONCE I SEND IN MY MONEY TO PAY RENT FOR MY LAST MONTH THEY WILL TAKE MY RENTAL PAYMENT A PUT IT AGAINST THE $500 FOR FLOORING.. ITS PAINTED CONCRETE FOR FLOORING AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME $500 FOR PAINT. AND IF I DONT PAY IT THEY WILL TACK ON LATE FEES AND AN EVICTION. I WAS NEVER LATE ON ANY RENTAL PAYMENT AND THE TREATMENT YOU RECIEVE FROM THIS COMPANY IS RIDICULOUS. I PRAY WHOEVER READ THESE REVIEWS TAKE HED TO THEM BECAUSE MOST OF THEM IS NEGATIVE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME NOR MONEY TAKE YOU BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.

Negative experience: Whatever you do, do not rent with this company. Moved out, and they charged me for damage from previous tenants despite me notating the damages. They con you into putting down 1000 before lease signing and then have crazy terms. This company is nothing but a scam. I would not recommend any Soldier or anyone for that matter rent from them.

Negative experience: Found an offer and did a tour. Submitted an application but it wasn’t finalized. Was told I am unavailable to continue due to lack of proof of income. Even when I suggested other options due to investment and savings and stated I was willing to pay more, it wasn’t even considered and management didn’t even try to work with me. Lastly I was not able to get the application fee back even though it wasn’t finalized and I paid for myself and someone else. 3x rent + proof of income + an application fee non refundable is diabolical and indicates that this organization is all about money. I would not recommend and suggest looking at other realtors. My preference: Hunter Rentals & Sales

Fantastic experience: I moved out of one of StarPointes properties 2 months ago and received pretty much my entire deposit back other then carpet cleaning. My Buddy referred me to them and he had no issues with the deposit after he left either. We saw the reviews from other people but it sounds like they were held responsible for the damage they caused and if I were an owner I would appreciate that. Overall it was a good experience and they have nice properties. I’d rent from them again if I ever come back to the area.

Negative experience: If I could give negative stars I would! The absolute WORST company to rent from. We moved out May 31 and it took them almost a complete month to give us our deposit back, which they took $1500 from us. I had a cleaning company clean and had the carpets professionally cleaned and sent them receipts. They in turn charged us over $400 for a cleaning fee. They charged us for a shelf that was never put up in the garage, they charged us for missing doorstops that were never there when we moved in, they charged us for not replacing an outside bulb to a light that is solar operated and has never worked because the solar paneling does not exist. They charged us for a screw in the wall that was there before we got there which they painted over prior to us moving in so that proves we didnt place it there. Oh and they charged us for not power washing the driveway. I have never heard of such a thing and no that was not in the lease. There were other miscellaneous charges but those were the big ones. I have sent 3 emails disputing these charges with pictures of how we left the house and asking for them to send us pictures of what they are trying to charge us for. I also asked for pictures from everytime they did an inspection (which was every 3 months for 2 years) so it can be proven that these issues were there prior to us, but they have not responded at all. I will be reporting to the BBB and also taking them to court. I wish I wouldve read these reviews prior to moving in because this company is the worst.

Mone, in accordance with Texas Property Code we have up to 30 days to complete the Security Deposit Reconciliation and we did complete yours in advance of that time period. We have provided you with ample photographic evidence of how the property was turned over to us after you vacated.

1. "They in turn charged us over $400 for a cleaning fee"

We have provided you photos of the home showing it was not returned in the condition we require based on your move-out cleaning checklist we provided to you 4/10/2024. Dirty baseboards, microwave plate, light fixtures, windows, toilets, kitchen drawers, doors and light switches to name a few areas. We do not mark up any maintenance and only charge the amount the vendor has charged to perform the cleaning.

2. "They charged us for a shelf that was never put up in the garage"

We have provided you with photographic evidence showing the shelf to the left of the breaker panel in the garage was no longer mounted to the wall as it was when you moved in.

3. "they charged us for missing doorstops that were never there when we moved in"

We have provided you with photographic evidence showing where the doorstops were in fact damaged (missing caps and broken) in the front and back bedrooms. They were in perfect working condition when you moved into the home.

4. "they charged us for not replacing an outside bulb to a light that is solar operated and has never worked because the solar paneling does not exist"

This was already addressed in your dispute and you received a credit for this on 7/24/2024

5. "They charged us for a screw in the wall that was there before we got there which they painted over prior to us moving in so that proves we didn't place it there"

6. "Oh and they charged us for not power washing the driveway"

We have provided you with photographic evidence showing the large oil stains on the driveway that were not present when you moved into the home.

We have also addressed the delay in response as our administrator had a death in the family and was out of the office. Your dispute was answered and you were in fact given a credit.

Negative experience: I was really upset that we were not approved for a home that cost the same amount in rent where we are currently staying. Who gets disapproved for having too many phone numbers? After thoroughly reading the reviews, I'm so glad It did not fall through. I hope these homes get new management and we will reapply then. This company gives me bad vibes stay far away!

Hello, we do conduct a full credit, criminal and rental history background check on all applicants. The current amount you may pay for a property does not automatically approve you for another. We also do not disapprove for an applicants phone number. Thank you!

Negative experience: Awful, plain awful. This company not only withheld information from us when we were trying to rent, but refused to take accountability for their own errors and misinformation. We provided the required documents, for example a letterhead, and they refused these documents. They took a week between each email and we were forced to go in person to ask simple questions towards requirements and such, but even then were provided with conflicting information. Some of the inqueries we had were also dismissed as we were told the application stated guarantor amounts, it did not. 200 dollars down the drain to a company that not only failed to communicate to us, but treated us with little respect. Other reviews seem to state their shady history enough as well, Starpointe needs to better themselves starting with response time and their rotten customer service.

Negative experience: If I could give them zero stars I would!!! DO NOT USE THEM as a renter!!!! We wouldn’t have used them if we had another choice at the time. It started at the beginning; I was 39 weeks pregnant and my husband was starting a job in a couple weeks. We lived three hours away and I couldn’t travel being pregnant. To see the house we initial wanted, I couldn’t get anyone to show it to me at first via video phone call finally got a realtor to do a video call and we loved the first house which had a deposit of $2995. We had to pay to priority mail the check before they would even look at our application.( Which we completed that night).Don’t get me started on their ridiculous application either!! Anyways, we didn’t get that house so we just found another one for rent through them since we didn’t have time to wait for them to send us back our deposit. The second house had a deposit of $2000. Instead of refunding us the $295 or using it as part of first months rent they kept it as part of the deposit. Ughhh. Also. they made a big deal about us not coming in person to sign the papers though I was heavy pregnant and my hubby works week days. (They aren’t open on the weekends) They did eventually do it online via zoom but made a huge deal about how we needed to try to come in person on the 1st of the month. I was due on the 3rd ‍♀️ They charge a $40 monthly requirement fee saying it’s in your best interest with all these ridiculous things, bull!! We never even had pest control come spray our house the 2.5 years we lived there. They do quarterly inspections but that didn’t bother me. We are furious at the fact that they keep most of our deposit. Yes I understanding keeping some for repairs for I had kids and normal wear and tear, But the carpets were horrible when we moved in and needed to be replaced. They charged as part of our deposit to treat ant beds y’all! It was raining all weekend when we moved out and after! Ant beds pop up daily!! Like seriously!! Just save yourself the headache and DONT RENT WITH THEM!!!

Negative experience: Zero! Zero! Zero! I wish I would have seen the reviews before I called these people. They are simply licensed criminals. All they want is your money and will do anything to keep it. I hadn't even signed a lease but was asked three weeks prior to the house even being available to agree to a lease signing date and a $1000 deposit. A few days after giving them my deposit I was sent a email by one of they agents telling me the property was no longer available and provided additional properties that I might be interested in. I reached out for verification but couldn't get in contact with anyone. By the time I did hear back from the application department I'd already found a new place and was told I wouldn't get my deposit back because I signed a paper agreeing to a lease signing date. Keep in mind I signed this document before they sent me a email telling me the house was no longer available and off the market. They took NO responsibility for anything, all they cared about was my money. No apology. No acknowledgment that the reason I had to find another place was because one of their agents sent me a email telling me the house was off the market. It wasn't as thought I just changed my mind, or backed out of a lease. Nope. This was literally caused by one of their agents. I'm not sure if this is a scam they run or what. I even attempted to reach out to the owner. I sent him a email explaining the situation. Didn't even get a response. This company has no ethics. I implore you DO NOT us this company. I have already reported them to the BBB and I hope everyone in here has done the same. I will make sure to tell all my Military friends and family relocating to this area to stay clear of these people. SCAMMERS!!!! In reference to StarPointe Realty Managements response. You’re admitting the email was sent out who it was sent to sounds like an administrative error on the part of that office and management. Making excuses for an administrative/managerial error is not taking responsibility regarding the part played by that office which triggered the events which followed. Perhaps training needs to be conducted if sending out mass emails informing the office a property isn’t available is part of the administrative process. Better yet, remove the future tenet. Including them on an email sent to staff (if that’s what’s being stated here) is impersonal. However, Per my original review, in my case the email was sent directly to me from one of the “agents” with an attachment of additional homes I may have been interested in. None the less, as it stands this company seems to move like a licensed criminal organization and I warn anyone who sees their logo on an advertisement to give them a very wide berth. DO NOT ENGAGE!!!! The amount of money required up front and the processes in general speaks to what I consider “legal” manipulation for its benefit taking place here. Any reputable company that wasn’t money hungry and cared about present/future tenants or simply it’s own credibility would simply return the money to anyone who experienced such gross miscommunication initiated from one of their employees. If you read this and the other warnings (to include that low satisfactory rating) but decide to proceed, you can’t say you weren’t informed. In this economy, trusting this company isn’t worth the risk.

Please refer to the email you also received clarifying that the "This Property is No Longer Available" email that went our was sent to ALL leads that had been interested in that property. You had sign our Lease Signing Verification form which clearly states that the $1,000 application deposit is no longer refundable once signed. We took the property off the market for you after you signed this and confirmed your lease singing date. When a property is taken of the market, the "no longer available" email is sent to everyone that was interested in that home. The property was off the market for you which hurts our property owner when you change your mind. If you have any further questions, please refer to the lease singing verification form you signed. Negative experience: This company is the worst! They seem legit when you are renting from them but make sure you thoroughly document before and after because they will try to scam as much money as they can. They will not communicate, keep you security deposit, and threaten your credit if you do not comply. It makes me sick knowing a company will actively and without remorse try to scam soldiers.

Fantastic experience: My son and I are leasing through Starpoint Realty, and we are very impressed with the way they conduct their business. I was staying with my son while trying to sell my house in Austin but after 5 months on the market without a contract I decided to lease it with Starpoint because: 1. They do a deep credit history before leasing. 2. They set standards for the renters to keep the property in the same condition as if it were their own house. 3. They come out every 4 months and do an onsite inspection to make sure everything is being taken care of and to check to see if any repairs are needed. 4. They set appointments with their maintenance staff so that property you are renting stays in good shape, or if you are an owner. You can feel confident that your property is in good hands.

Fantastic experience: After a frustrating year trying to sell my house in this market, I decided to rent it out. I called StarPointe and CJ and Lynn were so responsive, going out of their way to help me. Honesty, integrity and kindness are most important to me and they exhibited those qualities and more. As a recent widow, my brain is struggling and they both took time to explain, comfort and assure me. When CJ left my current home after fully explaining the process I felt as if a huge weight had been lifted. If converting property to a rental is on your mind, I cannot recommend StarPointe enough. Negative experience: Do not rent from these people. They are crooked money grubbing people. When my wife and I moved out of our property (this property btw had roaches that were never taken care of) we replaced multiple things and deep cleaned the house. The deposit was 1800 dollars. We got word they were charging us almost our entire deposit for replacing things and cleaning up the property. Multiple items they “fixed” were damaged upon moving into the property last year. This company preys on fort hood families. I strongly recommend staying far away from them.

Negative experience: I love the house I’m in but by far the worst management company. Everything is handled through third party; from the application process to everything. Very unorganized my date for signing was changed twice when I told them something about that I asked if I was going to run into more problems like the house not being clean they told me no it was professionally cleaned in October that WAS NOT the case. I had to rush to find a last minute cleaner because I already had movers scheduled and got there and saw the house was dirty. I showed them pictures of the house being dirty, sent my receipt for cleaners (which didn’t even have time to do full job because the movers arrived) and never got a reimbursement. When I viewed the property I was told the double fence in the back would be taken down and it would just be the normal fence back there of course that did not happen either. Very very very disappointed and would never rent through them again. So glad the house is worth the headache.

Negative experience: By far the worst company ever!! Money money money they are money hungry, not only there’s a quarterly inspection however when you vacate the property they still take more than half of your deposit. Negative experience: Make sure you read everything very well before signing your lease, even before providing your deposit of 1,000 dollars. YOU WILL NOT GET IT BACK. there is a lot of “smaller fees” that get added as you go through the lease and you have to have the 40 dollar a month resident program. We did the math before signing the lease and it added an extra 300 dollars a month on top of the rent. Much rather lose out on 1,000 than paying an extra 300 on a place that isn’t worth it. Do your research and make sure you read every single paper you sign. My mistake was believing one thing they said and another thing was written on paper. Save your money and the headache of the application fees, etc. good luck on your search!

Negative experience: Attempted to contact them about a property and ask questions about their policies. Apparently when you call, you're calling a call center. The person I spoke to had a heavy accent and I could barely understand what they were saying. She told me she would have to have the property management contact me to answer any questions as they didn't have any information and there isn't a way for the customer or potential to contact the property management company directly. I personally won't do business with someone that is so far removed from the customer there isn't any direct communication or there are unnecessary obstacles to that direct communication.

Negative experience: Run away as fast as you can from this predatory property manager. I have had nothing but problems with them since day one, and had to get a doctor's note for them to accommodate my Tramautic Brain Injury disability with a simple phone call. After leaving the house clean, these dishonest and predatory people charged me almost my full deposit. If you read the reviews, this is standard operating procedure for Starpointe Realty, a dishonest company that targets Fort Hood Soldiers and their Families. Shame on this property management company, shame on Su Jin Park for her failures to fix major issues, including an arc fault and a huge crack in mine and my neighbors ceilings, shame on CJ Roger's for allowing his rental company to do this, and shame on Fort Hood Leadership for allowing this to happen.

Negative experience: Do not bother looking here. They require an application fee that only last for a month before another 45 dollars is needed. They will not run your application until a cash deposit is turned into the office which to me defeats the purpose of charging the initial application fee to begin with if you aren't going to run it why charge me, isn't that fraud? The deposit is higher than rent is and everyone 18+ has to coordinate or more fees will fall in line. You have to call after everyone has completed their portion as no one will be monitoring the progress. The agents do nothing to help the process all they have for advice is go online. It's a joke and seems to be set up where they make financial gain on your app fees and kept deposits. DO NOT TRY WITH THIS GROUP THEY ARE TERRIBLE!

Negative experience: SCAM renters. DO NOT USE-ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A MILITARY FAMILY THAT MAY NEED TO PICK UP AND LEAVE IN A HURRY-they know this and will use it to their advantage when you leave and may need to protest false charges that they will not account for. Also, they take interior photos of the home every quarter of the year or more, and when you are trying to move out the photos will be labeled and timestamped wrong so they can provide an improperly prepared bill for you to pay on top of your deposit.

Fantastic experience: We've only been in our rental for one month, so if things change I'll make sure to update the review. Dealing with Starpointe versus the prior 4 property management companies we've rented under has been like going from Ma & Pa Clampet to a clean, professional, high-priced lawyer's office. Starpointe has wonderfully professional staff, clear procedures, and a very thorough process in place for everything. We were a little hesitant when first applying, but the deeper we got into the process the more I realized just how well thought out and professional each step was. Once we moved in all of our questions and concerns have been addressed in a timely and well-managed way. For those who express concerns about communicating with Starpointe before signing the contract - I had no difficulty with them on the phone, by text or email, so I can't address those concerns. For communications after signing the contract, it took a couple of business days to get the tenant portal (for most info-only requests) and Meld (for maintenance requests) services set up, during which time I only communicated by email and was promptly answered. Once the tenant portal and Meld services were set up, I was able to communicate with Starpointe just fine. Indeed, I got an answer back about a request to add additional electrical circuits to the garage the day after putting in the message! Under ALL of my former management services this would have taken weeks to get an answer back, if ever answered back at all. Is Starpointe more formal than the norm for central Texas? Yes. But, if you follow their established procedures (all clearly spelled out before we signed anything or paid them any money) you shouldn't have any problems. And I for one am greatly enjoying the much higher level of professionalism they have!

Negative experience: I lived alone in one of their properties. No damages made since I just studied and slept in that apartment. This company took 1/3 of security deposit for changing hood filter and cleaning. Sent security deposit was not successfully delivered ( I was waiting for 2.5 months) and asked them to send it again. They took $35 out of that money for administration fee… Finally got the check and deposited 6 days ago but still not being reflected in my account. I called the bank and the bank said the security of the check..

Negative experience: This company does not make applying for a rental easy. As a military family PCSing here we are not close enough to provide a $1,000 deposit in-person and are not comfortable mailing a money order for that amount. Had to jump through multiple phone calls, being transferred over and over again to finally find someone that could help us with a wire transfer. But even after that, there are no realtors that will communicate with you regarding your application. I would call every day and talk to the same guy that would not give me any contact information to talk to someone that handled applications. When he finally gave me a phone number to speak to someone guess who answered the call? HE DID. Communication here is severely lacking and the application process is basically a guarantee you won't get the house you are applying for. EDIT: in response to StarPointe’s response- My $1,000 application fee was retrieved so you had better NOT be processing a credit check.

Fantastic experience: My family just moved into our new home that we are renting through StarPointe. This has been the most pleasant renting experience I've ever had. We had less than desirable credit and where other places would have denied us, starpointe gave us a chance with just a reasonable extra security deposit which we were completely ok with doing. Everyone in the office was so pleasant and helpful. They kept us updated throughout the whole process, and this is the only management company I have ever experienced that went so in depth to make sure we understood every word of our lease, and they didn't dodge the fine print about any possible fees for lease violations. I really can't think of a single negative thing to say. Just a big thank you to the entire starpointe team for getting my family into this beautiful home! We are eternally grateful!

I also know a way in which to judge a good rental property management company is by the reviews left by tenants who are upset they are being held accountable for damages . Often times tenants leave a property in such a disarray the property owner is left with a huge repair bill! Positive experience: They were easy to work with and took care of any complaint or issue. Professional and helpful. However, they “got me” at move out time. I spent days wiping and cleaning every nook and cranny in that house even though I keep my house in pristine condition. You could eat off the toilets in that house when I was done and it was cleaner than when I moved in. It was a few weeks after we turned in keys before they actually did the move out inspection. I was asked to fertilize again before move out because the due date to fertilize fell right in the month we moved out, we did that. Then come to find out they took part of my security deposit. They sent someone out to dust the blinds and clean inside of oven (again) and said we are taking $250 for that! Then they took $100 because we took the initiative to spackle 3 holes we made from decor and painted the spackle with the matching paint THEY left in the garage. They had spot painted most of the walls before we moved in.. all in pictures. So whether you do it yourself or leave the holes, they will charge you either way. There were holes in one baseboard that were already there! Unfortunately ,I didn’t take pictures of the holes in the baseboard when I moved in cause I didn’t see them at the time so no proof of that one but everything else accounted for. Needless to say, they are a good reputable company but be very very careful at move in and take pictures of absolutely every teeny tiny spot or mark inside and out and list it! Try to get a house without carpets because you will be required to clean and pet treat all the carpets at move out. It’s not cheap. You also pay for fertilizing twice a year, a $40 per month fee for a filter and more for pet rent. As a military family we should have researched cost of utilities first before moving to the area because that water bill and electric bill killed us. They required us to water so much per week and it wasn’t cheap. Loved that house but disappointed that I spent so much time cleaning and lost over $400 at the end. Better than my entire and deposit I guess. Just be very diligent and record everything.

Positive experience: Update after moving out: Overall I had a decent enough experience and would recommend Starpointe for renters. There were a few red flag experiences, but nothing major. Repairs were handled quickly and they allowed you to schedule a time that was convenient for you. When I moved out, I thought I would get less of my deposit back, but got more than half. There weren't any unreasonable charges. I actually thought I would have issues or a fine since I turned the key in to the drop box after hours but there weren't any. I am no longer a tenant and rented from them for two years. There did seem to be some miscommunication between Starpointe and the owner of the home I was living in, but I did have to move out since they said the the property was no longer being used as a rental property. I was informed of this after I had already agreed to renew my lease again, so I was unexpectedly forced to find a new place to live at a time where rent for the type of place I was living was more than double what I was paying. My biggest gripe while living there were the quarterly inspections where they come to take pictures of your home. I like my privacy and having a stranger invade that four times a year is unnecessarily invasive. This is included in the lease, so it wasn't a surprise, it just made me extremely uncomfortable and is the ONLY reason I would never rent from Starpointe again. There were some questionable tactics they used at times revolving around their inspections (ie saying it was for sell and needing pictures, but the home was never listed; sending some big aggressive guy to my door saying the grass needed mowing and I missed an inspection; they will schedule them at the worst times and will not work with you on a better time). Initial review, made at lease signing: So far, StarPointe has made a good first impression. The lease was thoroughly explained in the video they showed as well as in person (kind of excessive, but I understand why they do this). There may be a few things I’m not looking forward to in the lease, but that’s just a part of renting, so I have no complaints. I haven’t had any issues so far throughout the application process, getting approved, and signing the lease. Will probably update this review in a few months after being a tenant.

Negative experience: I, foolishly, was willing to bypass the negative reviews. I keep an immaculate home. I make improvements and make sure my home is left better than when I get them. Most issues surrounded the security deposit, so I figured good documentation and my normal diligence would hopefully exempt me from the experiences so clearly written out. Ha. I couldn’t even get in the door. I made an appointment to see a home, I did the application. Paid the deposit. I did so because I was confident that, without gross misrepresentation, this house was perfect for my family. The leasing agent just doesn’t show up. When I call, I’m told it was rescheduled and I couldn’t see the home now, even though I drove hours up here to see it. I’m sent from team to team and no one knows how to handle the situation. Frustrated, I ask for my money back, I am HUNG UP ON! After hours of back and forth, I’m told I’d receive my deposit back, but not the application fee, even after I was told they hadn’t even processed my information yet. What crooks! There are dozens of good management companies that service the area, heed all the warnings you see. Avoid this company.

Negative experience: Walked in there was no one in the lobby. I heard loud music playing in the back. Waited 10 minutes for someone to come out but had to call. When the lady came out she was very rude directing me online instead of answering my simple questions. Very unprofessional. Very rude. And hopefully you can do everything online and don’t have to deal with her directly.

Negative experience: (Will possibly edit this if the issue is resolved) My complex got bought by another private owner who switched to this company in the middle of my lease, by far the worst rental company I have personally dealt with. They want us to leave our utilities on for 7 DAYS once we move out or you get charged a $300 fee. This was not in my lease that they just simply transferred over to this company, I did not sign a new lease with this company, this will come into play in a minute. I was recently charged a bulk trash pick up fee and now a late fee because I am trying to contact them but no one answers. I have not put any bulk trash out at any point this month. I think it's just them charging me because I'm the only tenant left until a week from now. Hopefully this gets resolved.

Positive experience: For the most part we’ve enjoyed being tenants for this company, they’re pretty quick to respond when you need things fixed , however there’s some things that we don’t like for 1) my realtor drove from Austin to Killeen to show us their property when we spoke with Mickie we were suppose to get a 3 bedroom paid my deposit for a 3 bedroom but Lynn said she was working on it w/someone else & they gave it to them even tho we paid & our paperwork said for a 3bedroom i talked with my neighbor about it & i was for sure suppose to get that one which was not fair to us ! So we are in one of their 2beds right now ….2)another big issue we had was our air went out in august & it was 100° plus outside & 87° inside our unit we called & called we had to wait 3 days before it was fixed my daughter & I both have respiratory issues you’d think our health would be important ! They don’t consider heating & air as emergencies but as certain conditions it should most definitely be if you can’t leave your animals outside during those times that should tell you enough !We are thinking about getting another property with them since we only had very little issues however they are trying to make us pay more for a package ($40) for basically a air filter which isn’t fair that choice should be made per tenant especially since we’ve been tenants for almost a year , we’ve never been late on our rent i feel if they want to add extra stuff for money that shouldn’t apply to existing tenants! They already increase rent $75 more if you wish to renew your lease but for the sq ft it’s not worth it there’s no parking no backyard for real & $50 more for month to month. Again those are the only things we don’t like /issues we’ve had.

Negative experience: They charge me for things that I didn't do so they could keep my money when I had no lease with them charge me for damage of this when thats how we got the house We so when they started managing the house and I moved out that charge me for things which we didn't do and that's how the owners got the house. They started to mange the property while we were living there .they had no idea what the house looked like and then charged of for damages beyond wear and tear when thats how we got the house they never came for inspection but took or security .deposit without having a lease

Negative experience: -This agency makes it so difficult to communicate. The staffing barely know how to handle any sort of question. The front-desk girls don't know any basic information and are always going back to get someone. They had brought an agent from the office to talk to me, and this agent among the girls was talking about my situation, in front of me (at their window) as if I wasn't standing there. Then the agent left and didn't even talk to me. Inconsiderate. -To top that, when we first got the house, the locks weren't even changed! They had come a few days after to change the locks. Totally unsafe practice. -They're sometimes quick to respond but even so, provide insignificant information that makes you need to call back.

Negative experience: Update to owners' response: (10.11.22) I would imagine you wouldn't have my name since it's not posted, but I've seen you somehow recall other people where their full names aren't displayed either, so I think maybe you just selectively recall anyone saying what you want to hear‍♀️. So far I've been given a very hard time with their management who goes out of their way not to deal with/ communicate with applicants for clarity. They didn't use the correct income for me despite me providing paystubs and official federal government documents, didn't respond to my dispute of that, and just denied me for a home I qualifiy for as I've qualified with two other property management companies for a home in the same price range (one was actually higher, but I didn't want to sign the lease before it was available, so they went to the next approved applicant who signed). I'm hoping I don't have to go through the trouble of suing for my application deposit back, b/c they won't even process your application without $1000 , and that's not the deposit itself you have to pay. I'm not sure if they're just trying to keep certain demographic out of certain neighborhoods, but I've never had a company wrongfully disqualify me in error like this before although housing discrimination isn't uncommon. To offer some positive feedback, 2 of the 3 realtors I had interaction with were great in their presentation and demeanor trying to be helpful. One of the male realtors who didn't even provide his name when he answered the phone was rude not listening to my questionsand concerns and threatened to hang up on me when I tried to re-direct him to what I was saying while he talked over me (he answered the phone line for Corin, who was polite in contrast) and the other two were nice as well. The applications representative Maria tries to do her job well too, but management makes the decisions and holds everything up. If they provided a valid reason to deny me per written policy, then I could accept that, but to have me wait longer than normal for weeks, disregard the verification of income I provide, disregard my dispute when I point out the report has incorrect information, then don't provide a reason they won't approve me for the homes I've applied for is just questionable and feels like I've been done wrong on an ethical level. Very disappointing and disheartening that this is still happening today.

Negative experience: They require you $200 for carpet cleaning fee before even signing lease. Deposits are over $2000. $25 "pet rent". Highly suggest to either buy your own house or find another place to rent. Ridiculous fees!

Negative experience: Don’t do it!! By far the worst rental company! Wish I would’ve listened to the previous reviews discussing how Starpointe will keep your entire security deposit when you move out. Our deposit was $1000 and we only got $125 back. We cleaned the house top to bottom! When disputing the charges it took over a month for them to respond and I had to physically go into the office. And don’t get me started on how they like to enter your home every 3 months just to take pictures, even if you’re not home! I can understand if my home was actually dirty but it’s not. Loved the home we rented but wish it managed under a better agency.

Hello, each tenant is given the chance to provide a move-in condition form. When a tenant vacates we refer to this and compare it to the move-out inspection done. Any damages caused by the tenant aside from normal wear and tear is a tenant charge. This is stated in your lease as well. Fantastic experience: Final update! Today we officially closed on our house, after signing 3 leases with Starpointe realty, one of their amazing realtors was able to help us get the home I have always wanted. Korrin was absolutely amazing, 8 months in the process of following up. The house is finally ours. Renting from them was a great experience through out the entire time. Buying from them was an even better one. Excellent experience with them definitely no complaints about anything!! Morgan has been so amazing. Such a wonderful company to rent from!!! Update!!!! - Been in the property going on a year now! & absolutely no complaints! All of the inspections have been a cake walk, They are always so pleasant! We had an emergency with the AC and Morgan was absolutely amazing and had a tech within 30 minutes! I most definitely highly recommend this company to everyone, If I was a home owner there would be no question asked, I would use this company, They make sure the properties are well maintained and well taken care of!

Negative experience: Not good, this buisness is scummy. The operators of this establishment are not familiar with federal and state laws. Their policies and procedures are sketchy and unorthodox for a business of this type. Their internet infrastructure is riddled with adds and browser extensions. The application process is riddled with hidden fees. When confronted with some of the inconsistencies I just mentioned they all sounded off almost in unison that those are the policies....save yourself the time don't do buisness there. The literally steal....48 dollars to find out. Update: Then they read your review look you up and immediately attempt to discredit you... pathetic attempt to cover up their criminal enterprise

Negative experience: I hadn't plan to write about this company but since I read other people histories and they had the same experiences than me I decided made my review because I dont want people pass the same experience. First, Worst Company.. Last year 3 months (July) before my contract finished they came with news about the owner was selling the house. They allowed realtors from others companies come to showed the house during morning, lunch, afternoon and evening weekdays and weekends. I tried to made a deal with them to show the house after 4pm since my wife worked nights shift and she needed rest and I worked all day far from the house and for me was difficult being in and out the work ( the answer was NO). They didn't care about us as a tenant and they didn't care about privacy and security. If you have plan to use this company..... Stay away

Fantastic experience: The ladies and gentlemen were all super nice. I was stressed with last minute moving but I was able to look at homes quickly. We found a home we loved and the application was an easy process. They answered my questions and got me through to the end! I've moved in now and they have been fast to respond to maintenance issues. Overall, moving is a stressful situation but they helped ease the process. I definitely would recommend them if you are looking to rent.

Negative experience: Rented a house in Killeen, TX through this company. They we very slow on responding to any issues. They raised our rent by over $350 after first year (fees for their new system, new pet fee and increased rent). They totally took advantage of us being military and didn’t even give us half of our deposit back. The house was in much better shape then when we moved in. After being in the military for 23 years and renting this is the first time we are not getting our full deposit back! We are receiving about 30% back. Horrible company to rent from and I would never recommend renting a home managed by Star Point Reality!!

Negative experience: We rented from this company for 3 years. They do their quarterly inspections tell you everything is great and then move out time comes they create fake damages and problems that don't exist to steal your security deposit. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. They still never sent an itemized list for the "damages" they just took $1100 from us with no proof why. The letter stated a spot on the carpet (that was there at move in), missing bathroom screen (that was not there at move in), paint on the wall ( normal wear and tear) They will scam you and not respond to you. The place was spotless when we left and we had the carpet cleaned. I've rented for years these people are the worst when it comes to moving out. The reviews are true don't do it!

Negative experience: Upon moving to my unit, all deficiencies reported, none fixed. Instead of ensuring the unit is pristine prior to moving they want to fix after. Inspection notifications on same day Office Male staff does not even say his name when calling, does not know much. Messages left for Corin and no return call or they call and then within the same minute they have a meeting to go to. No masks when inspection unit No name provided when inspecting unit

Negative experience: Yall should consider using something other than paycheck stubs to prove income . It’s 2022 not everyone has a cookie cutter job that has paycheck stubs. I for one use bank statements and have never had a problem until now. Would not recommend calling or even wasting your time talking to these people. Btw bank statements and a very accurate way of proving income.

Negative experience: This is a SCAM.... They will take your money & have no regard for u. I understand getting the application fee 1st but they said they want the deposit too. Without even knowing if u got approved. Oh yeah & the pet screening fee too before the application will even be looked at. I am glad we didn't give the deposit cause some of these reviews are stating they didn't get their deposit back.

Negative experience: On 1/14/2022 I filled out my part of an application for apply for 214 munroe ave in temple Texas, paid 93 dollars but my application was still in “pending” because my boyfriend didn’t fill out his part yet. Around 1pm I got told the house I applied for was no longer available but they could show me other houses. I explained that since the house was unavailable without my knowledge or taken off the website, and our application wasn’t complete I would like my 93 back. And they keep telling me I can’t get refunded.
