Fantastic experience: I have yet to move in here, the facilities look great and the communication from outpost so far has been fine (I would say not deserving of 5 stars). Fantastic experience: This is an honest review sharing from step A to Z of the rental process, for the benefit of future students who wish to stay in Lexington House at 118 E 102nd St. I am reviewing on behalf of my son as I involved in most of the rental process. He rents this place for a year. SALE AGENT Ashey is amazing. She responded almost instantly to clarify any inquiries and provided info as I asked. She is considerate and care about my concern when addressed. Make sure to inquire and confirm exact address of the room/building you are interested in. Also, it is common that posted photos are for marketing purpose because they dazzle you. Always ask actual photos of the room before you make your rent decision. CHECK IN Check in is smooth. Outpost management team is professional. They provide clear checkin instruction, in fact more than you need to know. They provide August app to open the apartment. They provide a unique code to access the building entrance. Make sure to read the entire checkin info and demo checkin video. COMMUNICATION Customer service agents respond both on phone, WhatApp, and email very fast. We never had to wait for more than 24 hrs to hear from their response. THE APARTMENT This 2 bedrom- unit was clean but sometime cockroaches show up. Probably the previous tenants left leftover food outside or did not empty trash daily which is a common reason to attract pests. But if you request maintenance to provide extermination, they will arrange it. My son’s room had a couple of issues, maintenance fixed them within a week of his request. The room has a full size-bed and a desk and a chair. It has a quite spacious clothset. The bed was wobbly but maintenance fixed it after my son requested. The kitchen has some cook wear and silver wear, a standard sized refrigerator, a stove, a microwave, and a coffee maker. A dining table and 3 chairs. The restroom is small but it has a full bath, enough for two students to share. I wish there are some hooks to hang towels but no big deal. Cleaner could do a better job. I taught my son to clean the toilet daily to keep it clean and avoid cockroaches. It is small so does not take much time. There is a washer/dryer in the living room but note that it is one unit operating for both washer and dryer, so each load takes 5-6 hours, meaning he can only do laundry at night or during the weekend. If OutPost invests a new set of dryer and washer that would be great. LOCATION Lexington house is in a great location, the most important fact when I chose to rent the room for my son. Only 5 minute-walk to the nearest subway station, and he takes only one train to NYU. The neighborhood is very safe and only 2 blocks to the Central Park. There is a NYC Police Department Station on the same street. A lot of local retail stores nearby (walking distance). All household appliances and stuff are sold at reasonable price. Check those stores out before you decide to shop. elsewhere. My son did not know about those stores until later, and he bought stuff from Target and Foodland, ending up to call Uber for big shopping load. SHOPPING OPTIONS Amazon is a great choice. Costco same day delivery for food and other household things. Asian food could be ordered on Wee app. Overall, my son enjoys living there so far. It is a good rental choice as for student. There are always some pros and cons. Excellent service and communication, and I hope OutPost will talk to the owner to replace a better washer and dryer. *** Update: The Extension agent PAJ was great. My son has extended his lease twice without any issues.

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs. I was forced to leave the apartment I rented due to absolutely unbearable living conditions: nightly violence between roommates, screaming, loud music until morning, an unusable kitchen and bathroom, and stolen food. The agency knew about the situation before renting me the place. Then, despite multiple complaints, they did nothing. I had to urgently find housing on my own. Furthermore, they expected me to find a new tenant for a nightmare room, pay a $199 lease transfer fee, and refuse to reimburse the deposit. It’s unprofessional, negligent, and honestly shameful. I am here only sharing my personal issues but ive heard so much worse from roomates. Illegal airbnb renting, illegal serveillance of tenants, negligence of basic infrastructure features such as hot water or cleaning molt. Not even mentioning high rent. This agency does not care about tenant safety or basic decency. Stay far away.

Fantastic experience: I have stayed at 2 Outpost location the past year (Williamsburg and Greenpoint), and have liked them both. The management team is good and quick to respond, and the and both locations are great. It is a very fair deal for what you get. I have had about 7 different roommates here (as people move in and out), and everybody has been very cool and easy to get along with. I strongly recommend Outpost to anybody looking for a place to stay in Brooklyn. They have other locations that are likely great as well. Also, Luigi from the Greenpoint house is the man!! He responds and fixes things almost immediately. Tania is also great and super helpful with the booking process.

Fantastic experience: Luigi & Ivan are the dream team for maintenance! I had an issue with washing machine, and they showed up the same day to try to fix the problem. Turned out a new part needed to be ordered.. I was expecting at least a week wait time. However, the part was delivered within 4 days and my washing machine was working that day! Fantastic experience: Been at Outpost for the second time now, the sign up process is very easy and the monthly cleaning services is very helpful. Jhonnalyn Perez helped me extended my lease after some accident delayed the extension, but they helped me keep my room despite being on short notice!

Negative experience: Our experience with Outpost has been underwhelming. They set ambitious targets but failed to deliver, missing them by more than half. Beyond performance, the bigger issue is their lack of transparency. The financial reporting is confusing, inaccurate, and difficult to interpret. When we’ve tried to get clarity, their team has been uncooperative and dismissive. There are better co-living companies out there—ones that communicate openly, provide clear accounting, and follow through on their commitments. We strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Negative experience: Constant issues with maintenance. Wifi went down and took a week to get back up, had a water leak in my bathroom that took weeks to fix and then maintenance left the bathroom a complete mess. Do not recommend

Negative experience: DO NOT STAY AT THE ATLANTIC HOUSE!!! I've lived in that apartment for a year, and it wasn't until halfway through my lease I started getting bed bugs. I contacted customer service about it, and they sent the exterminator twice, did treatment twice, and promised that the bed bugs would be gone in a few weeks. I didn't have bed bugs for a bit, but they started coming back! They would crawl through the floors and on the corners of my mattress. When I moved out, there were a whole bunch of dead bed bugs squashed in the corners between the sheets, I had throw my entire bedding away. Our bathroom door broke twice, on its own (hinges just randomly fell) - shows a lack of quality in what they're maintaining. I put in a request to have our bathtub fixed, guy showed up unannounced and just walked in (major breach of privacy), attempted to fix the tub and then left halfway with our tub flooded. They don't operate in the weekend, so we had an unusable shower for a weekend. Website promised in-unit laundry, which is why I chose the apartment. But the unit they put me in had no w/d and it was only for specific units. This was not worth the $1500+ I was paying a month, especially with all these issues I was experiencing and beyond, and the lack of certain amenities I was promised. If it had in-unit laundry, I wouldn't have minded paying that much; but you are honestly better off finding something of better value from Facebook. It's a shame. I wanted to really like Outpost because an apartment I stayed in for a month before was really nice so I had high expectations. But this was one of the worse experiences I've ever encountered in the 4 years I've lived in NYC. There are far better places for a better value out there.

Regarding the bed bug situation, we understand how distressing that can be. As you mentioned, our team acted promptly by scheduling professional extermination services and following up with treatments according to protocol. Unfortunately, in shared living environments, reintroductions can occur despite best efforts, and we apologize for the continued inconvenience you experienced.
We also acknowledge your concerns about the bathroom maintenance and the communication around repair visits. We’re currently working on improving both scheduling and notice procedures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
On the topic of in-unit laundry, we strive to make all amenities as clear as possible during the leasing process, including which units have specific features. We're sorry if there was any misunderstanding, and we’ll be reviewing how these details are communicated moving forward.

Fantastic experience: I had the chance to stay with Outpost back in 2022, shortly after COVID, and I returned again recently—but this time, the experience was completely different, in the best way possible. From apartment hunting to finally settling into The Williamsburg House, everything felt smoother and more personalized. Fantastic experience: I’ve been living at an outpost property for a few months and I really appreciate the flexibility and ease in booking. Fantastic experience: I just extended my lease another year! How could I not? Outpost Club has made my first experience as a tenant in NYC so worry-free and comfortable. All management and maintenance staff have been so efficient and polite. Living here is so cozy, comfortable, and cost effective. My suite mates are attentive and polite, but they keep to themselves for the most part. It’s so quiet and peaceful I can work from home and take the longest naps in my entire life. Negative experience: This NYC living arrangement sounds like a great idea, initially. However, Outpost will micromanage your room temperature (turning on building-wide heat-emitting radiation pipes when it's 75° outside), reduce amenities without notice (leasing out common spaces to the general public), and add hidden fees towards your rent (the unnecessary building-wide heat-emitting pipes run 24/7 and accumulates an enormous utility bill, which they try to push onto the tenant). These types of companies usually don't last, so it's a revolving door in terms of management. In other words, a disastrous experience for the tenant. I would not recommend to friend or even an acquaintance.

We understand that comfort and transparency are critical in any living arrangement. Our intention with building-wide heating is to comply with NYC regulations regarding minimum indoor temperatures during colder months. That said, we understand this can sometimes feel unnecessary during fluctuating weather, and we're continuously reviewing how to better balance comfort and efficiency.
Regarding amenities and utility charges, we strive to keep our residents informed and to minimize disruptions. We apologize if there was any lapse in communication. Common spaces were never leased to anyone and opened to the public, so there is probably a miscommunication.
Fantastic experience: Evans, the sales rep. at Outpost was immensely helpful in both selecting and securing a short term rental. Outpost in aggregate was responsive, accommodating and diligent in making the transition into their well appointed units seamless, they made what could otherwise be a stressful task a pleasant experience.

Positive experience: I have been staying at an Outpost co-living house for almost 1 year and half. My general experience has been fine, until a very difficult and stressful roommate situation took place in which the police had to get involved. I decided to relocate to another co-living space within Outpost (due my lease) to get out of that situation, and Evans was extremely helpful in my relocation. He was very fast and efficient in getting me out a very unpleasant situation to a new housing that I feel very safe in. He made sure I had all of the write paper work to sign and answered all of my questions that I had. Evans was great!

Fantastic experience: For almost a year now, I have been able to get accustomed to all things New York City thanks to the Outpost Club. This is due to the convenient location and lively community. Common spaces are clean and the staff is attentive. Positive experience: I came across Outpost Club on Ticktok and decided to give them a try and the process was smooth and loved the part of Qira paying the security deposit on your behalf but you pay for the membership. Moving in was effortless it’s just been 2 days and l have not had any problem except that there were no blankets but on the pictures the bedrooms had blankets. Anastasia and Rafael have been of great assistance and am looking forward to a nice stay here

Negative experience: If I could give negative stars, I’d give -1000. Renting with Outpost (June 2024–December 2024) was the worst experience of my life. I strongly discourage anyone from renting here. Outpost doesn’t care about their tenants, just the money. I lived with an unbearable tenant for 5 months, and despite repeated complaints, Outpost did nothing. This tenant: Smoked weed all day inside the apartment (prohibited by the contract). Invited random people to live in her room, at least 4 people stayed without Outpost knowing. Shared the apartment code with strangers, so I constantly found unknown people in the kitchen, even when she wasn’t home. Left moldy food everywhere, causing an infestation of mosquitoes and unbearable smells. Never cleaned or ran the dishwasher, leaving a mess so bad the janitor had to intervene, and we had to throw away most dishes. Made excessive noise late at night, including doing laundry at midnight, disrupting everyone’s sleep. It got worse, she once became aggressive, punching walls, slamming doors, and even called the police over a minor issue. It was clear she wasn’t mentally stable. Outpost's response? Sending useless emails that didn’t resolve anything. They failed to enforce the contract or charge fines for these violations, leaving tenants to deal with the chaos. I would never recommend Outpost to anyone. Save yourself the stress and rent elsewhere. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

Negative experience: They will kill you on prior tenant damage when you're leaving. They don't give you a move-in checklist and then at the end of the lease will charge ridiculous amounts and threaten legal action if you don't pay. If you have to stay here, make sure to take pictures of everything so they can't screw you. Also, the roof is trashed more often than not. Replying to outpost: well you didnt provide one. And gaston billed us excessively like a greedy scumbag for minor damages. Changing this to a one. Also you have roaches and mice in your apartments

Fantastic experience: I’ve had nothing but positive experiences so far with Outpost Club. Every individual Each department I’ve communicated with has been professional and reactive. Grateful for their option to extend as it’s helped me out greatly and is such a convenient option!
Negative experience: Use at your own risk. I liked the idea and units they offered. I reached out and they immediately contacted me. I was offered a unit and applied. Did not hear anything so I reached out. They assigned me a new leasing agent and I went through the same process. I applied and then got no response again. I was ready to let it go until they transferred me to a third agent who contacted me and sent a new offer. Once again I applied and once again I was ghosted. There was no rejection, denial, or professional curiosity to say no. This process went on for 2 months. Only took me 3 days to find new leasing company, unit, and sign a lease. Outpost crumbles in comparison to other coliving companies in NYC.

Negative experience: READ BEFORE SIGNING YOUR LEASE: I’ll first begin with the fact that they illegally locked me out of the residence and I had to call the cops on them. (Context: I am taking them to court) Don’t do it. I live in the first floor and right beneath me they allow a tenant to have parties with club level audio. I’ve missed so many days of work because of this. This is not a home, this is a business run by foreigners and outsourced low paying third party services. The landlord has said herself that she doesn’t want to hear from any of her tenants, and that any concerns you have you send through the property management company. A company with outsourced workers who don’t speak English. (No offense there, just explaining the circumstances) We have fat rats that climb down the stairs and play in the kitchen. There is black mold and mildew. RUN, even if you’re desperate. They overcharge for small rooms that don’t even have locks on the doors. RUUUuuuunnn edit: 09/20/2024 added photos of how the back yard currently looks after a party was had a week ago. No one from OutPost or the tenant who had the party has cleaned back there. It’s nasty…(edit) I ended up cleaning the back yard, even doing yard work. I feed the cute lil cats back there ⬛ edit: 10/22/2024 I added photos of a conversation I had with OutPost about the parties. They promised to handle the situation on their own and keep my identities confidential. They did not. OutPost told the subject that I reported them as well as sending me an email telling me theyre not willing to do anything and if I feel there’s a problem, to call the police on the subject. smh They also sent one of their employees (white male) to harass me. He followed me into my home here and begin accusing me of stealing a package. It was such a huge macro aggression. They’ve been very retaliatory since I’ve posted this review.

Outpost Club assumed management of this building just a week ago, and we are not accountable for any missing services or issues that occurred prior to our management. However, since taking over, we have been actively working to address and resolve the existing issues.
Fantastic experience: The staff there are very helpful and quick to respond. I was having trouble with renewing my lease and although it quite the process, Tania was there with me every step of the way which was really nice. Everyone seems to be one email/phone call away.
Positive experience: Hamilton House has been a great home for me as an international student! The location near City College is unbeatable, and the backyard area has been perfect for relaxing after a long day. Would recommend!
Negative experience: Common went bankrupt and this company took over. They refuse to provide a breakdown of the rent and claim to be charging me for water which is not standard in NYC. The hot water has gone out 4x and the WiFi was down for the entire first month and they're trying to charge me since "they tried really hard to fix it quickly". Their representative, Vlada, is now threatening to not allow me to renew because I am asking questions about the lease and rent, which I did in response to an email I received from Outpost suggesting that I do exactly that. She said this in the same email chain. *It takes 3-10 days to get an email response from her as well still now. Representatives are slow and many only speak Ukrainian making it difficult to even converse with people working in my house. Not sure whats going on here but very suspicious behavior. Vlada has also declined to let me and my attorney speak to legal, isn't a lawyer, and continues to avert me from discussing legal matters. Property manager Andy was rude and defensive initially but has since been very respectful and accommodating. Vlada also initially tried to force me into repaying my deposit which is illegal. This representative is a major liability. (9/24)*Never said anything about having issues w folks not speaking english, but rather employees coming into my home, saying they don't speak english and doing nothing to communicate. Taras uses Google Translate and we have no issues. I was forced to resign and still have numerous unanswered questions. The AC unit is still leaking, the balcony is still chipped, and the front door is still broken and they were cited for it by 311 just a few weeks ago.

Fantastic experience: Outpost Club has been a reliable source when I look for short-term rent in a new York. Shortly after I filled the form on their website, Evan contacted me and assist me to choose the best unit for my need. He has been quite responsive and helpful since then.
Fantastic experience: Although the process had its challenges, Evans was consistently clear about the next steps and kept us well-informed throughout. I really appreciated his timely follow-ups to all email notifications and phone calls. His communication made the entire experience much smoother.
Fantastic experience: I have MANY positive things to say about Outpost Club... The first is Evans, the agent who reached out on my first inquiry and was a helpful companion throughout the process, including meeting on a video call to answer questions. This was my first time coordinating a lease for a co-housing space for my son. Evans understood newbie tentativeness and was patient and informative. One funny story was that the photos looked amazing, almost too good to be true but when we walked in, it exceeded our expectations. High ceilings, clean white walls etc. In speaking with a neighbor, he mentioned that they completely renovated the building. Every building is different so don't assume yours will be like this but I am confident Outpost would represent the spaces they have in their network fair and honestly. We couldn't be happier with our Agent (Thanks Evans) or with the way the company operates.
Fantastic experience: This was my first experience with Outpost and it was a great overall! There were a few changes that were out of the organization's control, but Ashley was a great help - being upfront and patient every step of the process. Communcation and response was very quick and efficient as well!
Negative experience: Disgusting company. Disgusting living situation. They charge double what they quote you in hidden fees. They NEVER clean. The sheets alone cost $100 and they are stained and dirty. Beds are stiff as boards and hurt your back. The rooms are so small you can’t even put ANYTHING in them. I asked for a private bath, they gave me a 3 bedroom 1 bath. I asked to switch locations and they doubled the price even more. Locations are HORRIBLE. All of them are dangerous locations to live. They buy cheap apartments and slightly renovate them to appear nice on the website. Trashy. They require 3 months, do NOT do this. You can find a beautiful spacious apartment for the same exact price. My monthly cost was quoted at $1600 and I’m paying $3000 a month after fees. This is your warning.

The safety of our tenants is our number one priority, so all the buildings are located in good areas. We do provide brand-new bedding, and even if there was some issue with it, it was because of a manufacturer defect. But we are more than happy to change it. There are hidden fees. We work very transparently, and all the fees are described so the tenant is aware of them before making payment. In case you change location and the room type to a more expensive one - the price might change
Fantastic experience: As an international student, finding long-term accommodation abroad is not easy. Without US citizenship and a credit score, many landlords set high thresholds for international students. After discovering the housing options from Outpost, I found that their locations, environment, and budget suited my needs. Evans contacted me and provided comprehensive services, guiding me step by step through the leasing process. He patiently answered my questions, allowing me to successfully complete the lease agreement. I look forward to having a good living experience after moving in August.
Positive experience: I have been 3 times in upper manhattan with outpost, in total almost 9 months. On average is a great experience, I got three different rooms, each room has is own pros and cons. I got Evans as "Booking consultant", he was especially great.
Fantastic experience: I was looking for a long-term shared room in Manhattan for my son, who is moving to NY, and I contacted Evans. From the very beginning, Evans exceeded my expectations! He was patient, kind, and professional. He immediately understood my needs and concerns and guided us throughout the entire process. He was extremely responsive and reassuring, and even after the contract was signed and my son was settled in, he continued to be available to assist us. We are delighted with our experience with Outpost so far, especially having had the chance to be assisted by Evans.

Fantastic experience: I had a really difficult task arranging accommodation in New York City while being on another continent. No landlords wanted to put effort into helping me with this challenging task because I was not settled in the USA yet. Then I met Ashley from Outpost Club. She was completely different from all the landlords and agencies I contacted. She was understanding, responsive, helpful, and empathetic. I communicated with her through WhatsApp, and her responses were quick and helpful. She went above and beyond to help me reserve a place in a new city before I even arrived. Her team must be very responsive and supportive as well because she returned with answers and solutions very quickly when she said she needed to speak with the team. Due to the good work of Ashley and Outpost Club, I can certainly say that my move to the USA was smooth, and I felt welcomed in this glorious country.
Negative experience: Scammers!!! Do not recommend at all, firstly they do not follow the contract and try to get the most money out of you and the building where I was staying at in Lexington Av. was full of pests such as rats and cockroaches! Also when a new tenant arrives they don’t even clean it properly or at all. So be careful, I was studying in NYC and for a better service and hospitality you can find better things!!

Fantastic experience: I reserved a whole flat at the Kensington House with two pals, and it has been an absolute dream! There is an abundance of natural light and everything is modern and decorated. Most valued when applying cosmetics in the restroom, lol. The apartment has a washer and dryer as well! I'm genuinely amazed at how affordable everything is given for. The only issue is that my room just has a hanger and no closet, but that's okay because there's plenty of additional space for storage. If you're considering going here, go for it!
Negative experience: Do not rent from here. Really not worth the money or the stress. They Jack up the rent if you decide to renew your one year lease (the price was not worth the cramped box room you get). Not to mention the way they handle the apartments. Tenants would get locked outside in the cold for long amounts of time due to the outdoor key pad continuously breaking and you never knew how long you would be out there in the cold or heat because they always took so long to fix it or never send an update about the status of the key pad. Facilities are not well taken care of. Basement was filled with mold due to lack of outpost properly cleaning it, same with our own bathrooms. When I first moved into my room I was surprised at the state of it. Dents in the doors, marks on the walls and floors, things left in the apartment by the previous tenant, and chipped paint/poor ventilation by the window. It was obvious the rooms were not well taken care of. Outpost also does not take serious complaints by roommates. As when other tenants have made complaints about others all outpost said was “try communicating with your roommates” even though when trying to communicate began a full on argument and one male roommate intimidating and harassing a female roommate making them feel very unsafe. The same roommate began throwing about other tenants things and all outpost did was sent a reminder email and did nothing about the continuous actions that roommate did. Over all the past few months of stay here have been very disappointing. Very glad I’m away from there.

Positive experience: Outpost club is very convenient for the most part. I appreciate their leniency. However some things do fall into the cracks. You won’t get all the amenities like tissue & cleaning supplies unless you are in a co-living apartment and not private. You have to follow up a lot with requests. Tania the extensions manager is very kind respectful and helpful. I’ve been enjoying my stay in NYC so far though. No dire complaints.
