Negative experience: Due to the fact Clemmer will pull up your name to find any little reason to discredit your review even if that means going against your privacy, I have changed my name on here. First off this company is horrible to rent from. Their units are old, and they never update anything in them unless something goes wrong and they have to. Don’t bother calling maintenance because the second you do they will raise your rent, to the point you’re questioning why you’re paying so much for a raggedy old run down apartment. They nitpick other issues like parking but when it comes to fixing something in the actual unit they either take forever to do it or half ass the job…they really take the land lord special serious here. Also god forbid you get Sandie when you call or text the office, she is extremely rude, talks down on you, and will question if you’re telling the truth if you have a maintenance issue… Do NOT rent from Clemmer you will regret it.
Negative experience: Experiencia desafortunada x no revisar las opiniones y experiencias de las personas pues rente en el 4922 de vista del mar casa q no recomiendo para nada y a la compañía tampoco pues son deshonestos y sin ética rente x 20 meses y desde el inicio te mienten ya q ofrecían la casa con patio para esgrima una especie de terraza q no existía y al final después de una serie de desperfectos y descomposturas se inventan varios desperfectos para quedarse con parte de tu depósito 410 dólares q solo reconozco uno de 150 dólares el resto es invención todos los meses pagados sin atraso te mandan fotos de los ( desperfectos pero no del antes solo del después ) una alberca con montones de tierra q tube q remover y arreglar la orilla para mejorar su aspecto un pasto q tiene de todo menos pasto y una persiana q cambie x q no servia de eso no te dicen nada ni fotos hubo de eso ( sospechoso no ?) en fin le doy una estrella x q tienes q calificarla pero no la merecen !!!

Hi Julie, we appreciate this! We do strive to get all work orders done in a timely manner. Sometimes it cant be helped all vendors make their own schedules. If there is something you do need always feel free to get a work order in and please upload pictures this is very helpful. By uploading pictures this shows the vendor what they need. It helps to make the process go smoother.

Fantastic experience: Love this place! NOTHING LIKE THE HORRIBLE WAY I WAS TREATED AT ASCEND! The ladies here were so helpful in finding me an apartment. Thank you especially to Lindsey, Melinda, and Julia for answering all of my questions and for always treating me like I matter!
Negative experience: Worse property management to rent from. They never managed the apartment complex right they neglected the lighting outside. My guest ended up breaking his leg going down the stairs. But again I got evicted for there negligence. But I was one of there best tenants that paid my rent on time. But never got my deposit back either.
Negative experience: Moved in with my garage broken with no garage opener for months. Moved out left a few things and received a email stating I could pick the rest of my things up and they threw everything in the trash. A/C was broken never got fixed and the mold problem around the whole house was never done either. Terrible experience all around the lady Julia is actually really nice and understanding. Everyone else is extremely rude and sarcastic. Wouldn’t rent again from them unless it’s a last option.
Negative experience: Not totally their fault, mainly the creepy owners, Ann and Steven Carey of 406 Olive St. They would park and wait across the street, enter the property to "drop off" things for the gardener, leave notes, make you do favors to their home for free, and charge me for things that I did not break. Clemmer's lost paperwork for items that were previously broken and listed, so I got charged for them. CVAF contracted, never was I ever late on rent but got charged for fees, over $600, including $6 fees each month to pay rent. Some employees were helpful but some had attitudes. Maintenance was okay but sometimes they were no shows, so I repaired them myself. First and last time that I would deal with this company or those awful home owners.

Fantastic experience: I have been with clemmer and company real estate as a tenant for the past 5 years two different places. The staff is awesome! If I have a maintenance problem it's taken care of almost immediately. Their apartments are great I love my place! You can't rent from a better place! And I want to thank Jhana,Taylor, Lindsay, and Maria and anyone else I might have missed just know that when you rent from Clemmer and company real estate you'll be taken care of.

Negative experience: I truly wanted my experience with Clemmer & Co. to be a great one. It started with promise, but ended in deep disappointment. I rented from Clemmer & Co. for exactly a year and a half. At first, things seemed hopeful. Lyndsey was kind and helpful during the move-in process, and the small property near North Chester and Day Ave had a peaceful charm to it. The neighborhood was quiet, the tenants were respectful, and I was optimistic about what life there would look like. Unfortunately, that optimism did not last. The turning point came when the property owner decided to convert the garage buildings — including the on-site community laundry room — into additional rental units. This amenity was in my lease, yet it was taken away with no notice or communication. Like many things that followed, we tenants were simply left to figure it out on our own. Communication from the office was consistently poor. Utility shutoffs would happen without warning. Maintenance requests, even basic ones, were often ignored or outright canceled — usually by Sandy, the maintenance supervisor, who seemed uninterested in helping tenants at all. One incident that stands out involved my clogged toilet. After waiting days, a contractor finally arrived and clearly explained the toilet needed replacing. He even said he doubted Clemmer & Co. would approve it. He was right — it took three weeks for the work to be authorized. The property was also infested with roaches. Pest control, according to the lease, was my responsibility — so I paid out of pocket. The water heater was in poor shape, frequently producing discolored, brown water when using hot taps. It was just one issue after another, and each interaction with management felt like a battle. I did my best to be respectful, patient, and clear in my communication. Unfortunately, that grace was never reciprocated. By the end of my lease, I had grown to genuinely hate the place — not because of the neighborhood, not even because of the condition — but because of how poorly the property was managed and how little tenants seemed to matter. If you're looking for a rental in Bakersfield, do yourself a favor and steer clear of Clemmer & Co. Instead, I strongly recommend Central Cal Management — a company that truly cares for both its properties and its tenants.

Fantastic experience: I could not recommend a better property management company! Every step of the rental process was absolutely seamless, from the tour of the property to the application process. As I approach my two-year mark as a tenant I can confidently share that I continue to feel just as confident in this company from the day I took my initial tour.
Fantastic experience: I going to go with a five star!! It’s kinda soon only being in a property of there’s a few weeks. I will have to say that the property is very nice and they application process went quick and smoothly!! The office staff and Lindsey were very polite and respectful. Everything seems like it should go very well. Lindsey explained all the need to knows about payments and maintenance requests very thoroughly also went over all other details regarding lease. No maintenance needs yet. I will update if my experience changes in the future. So far so good!!
Negative experience: I took two appointment to show house first time. I was late five minutes and they said nobody show up. I didn’t find anyone in there for a group show as they say. Second time they cancel one minute before when I was there

The team was very responsive and helpful through out my entire time with them! Great location, good value and better customer service! Negative experience: Is anyone else ready to collectible take this company to court. They’re withholding my deposit due to preexisting conditions(which were documented) that the previous company(which they bought or joined)knew about and refused to fix. I have letters from neighbors testifying that the owner refused to fix the fence and gate. Also, many other things that were documented through the previous company and this current company keeps attempting to steal my deposit charging me from preexisting conditions like a chipped kitchen sink, which was like that when I moved in and they have a guy named Tommy sprayed that thing with ceramic paint. The same thing they did in one on the bathtubs, which has a huge hole in it, and their way of “fixing” the problem was ceramic paint. About two years ago, the water heater broke. It took them more than five days to fix it. When the water heater broke, the water damaged the garage’s carpet, which is shown to them in a video and the move-in documents that it was previously stained and damaged, so the water added to that. Also, when it rains the water goes in the garage. All of these was told to the previous company and the owner knows about it, but still they continue to ignore the facts and the law. I have videos on YouTube about this address and many other issues with the property. For example, how the pipes burst and that the inside carpet has been flooded many times. You can see in the ceiling the amount of times they had to repair the pipes. Which they didn’t say anything until it happened to me, for which they tried to charge me too, until the repair man and the carpet guy told me about all the times they had to fix it before. That house is not safe for you to live. Health concerns are very serious especially if you have children with weak immune systems. The entire living room area was flooded when I lived there, and they did not replace the carpet. The previous tenants also told me this happened to them, & carpet was never replaced.

Fantastic experience: I am truly so grateful to have come across this company when I did, the application process was fast & Lindsey was amazing and so helpful at explaining step by step on the process of moving in. I love how you could pay rent online, request maintenance online and how kind the ladies in the office are they’re very helpful. All of their rentals online are so nice and the prices are amazing, I would give the company 10 stars if I could. Negative experience: Do not rent from this company unless you want to throw away a lot of money to not feel at home. I rented from them for over a year paying 2000 a month then out of nowhere they added a bunch of ridiculous rules with fees if violated that were not on our lease nor did we sign for. As well as lying about their employees being a third party to add an extra charge and making false accusations on the post inspection to keep as much of the deposit as possible. Stay away from this company if you don’t want to be taken advantage of.
Hi David, I hope you’re doing well. A post-inspection of your unit was conducted with both your mother and sister present, though you were not in attendance. They walked through the unit with us and signed off on the pre-inspection report, which outlined the condition the unit should be returned in upon key handover, as previously discussed.
Unfortunately, it appears that several items discussed during the inspection have not been addressed. Specifically:
The unit was not cleaned
Carpets remain dirty
Blinds and the thermostat were not repaired
Items have not been removed from the premises
Your mother has all the relevant forms that detail what needed to be done. I understand you’re facing some challenges, and I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you're experiencing. If you have further questions or need clarification, feel free to reach out to Melinda.

Negative experience: UPDATED: I had given them a two-star but now I have to downgrade it to one star because they responded to my review but didn't pay attention to what I wrote. So they responded a year later and thought that the plumber shut off the water for a day, but the plumbers permanently shut off my water to my porch. When I sent them an when I sent them an when I sent management an email (the person responding to the review told me to send an email), they ignored the email. So they're not serious evidently about fixing issues, they are more concerned with bad reviews. Original review: They shut off my water spigot and said they're going to shut off the water of the rest of the neighbors. I don't waste water and I don't know anybody who does, but it's nice to have water in your porch. They're normally okay with maintenance, but they cheated me and didn't even tell me that they had done this during the time that they repaired a leak.

Fantastic experience: I am a renter with Clemmer and company and have been for over two years. I have found them to be exceptional as in the beginning there was a water leak in my first apartment that was coming from the upstairs and flooded my apartment. They immediately took care of it, replacing all my food that had gotten wet and then some concerned about my needs and my well-being. I then moved to my second apartment the current one that I’m living in now I feel so at home and so safe they actually are the best rental company I’ve ever had at any time I feel I can call the office and they will work with me in any situation and get it resolved. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I feel very grateful to have found a place where a communication is open and the people are great to work with I would encourage anyone to call them and rent from them. I am completely happy with where I live and who I rent from thank you, Clemmer and Company.

Negative experience: Horrible rude arrogant people that run this place. Tried to steal my security deposit Stay away from them! Reply: yes after we harassed you guys you refused to answer the door or phone and had to sit and be a Karen with my husband refusing to return anything to us. Your secretary at the time cowardly gave the deposit back by putting it under the door mat refusing to see us in person. Very rude

Negative experience: Rented a property through Mission for nearly three years and property management switched to clemmer and co within the last couple months of renting. Upon moving out the manager refused an appointment by never returning phone calls and emails. Once the apartment was vacated, it was broken into by a neighbor and we again requested an appointment to turn in keys and review the walk through. We were told by the manager that we would get a call but we never did. We got 300 out of a 1k deposit back and the manager intentionally held it until end of day and made sure to leave the premises before it was handed to us by other staff. I wouldn't rent here again due to the highly unprofessional staff and severe lack of communication. We were good renters and never missed payments but we're treated like garbage regardless. Edit to respond: Thank you for following up on my review - 2 years after the fact. Like I mentioned in my previous post - any damage was due to the neighbor breaking into the property after we vacated. The yard was cleaned before we left but we were informed by another neighbor that the one who broke in was allowing his dog to use it after we left. I should also note that the apartment and yard were a mess when we moved in. Pictures were provided to the original management company. We also repeatedly requested a walk through with management repeatedly to address the condition of the property and the issue of the neighbor breaking in and was disregarded. We were charged for missing items such as light bulbs that were not there when we moved in and damaged items that were not.caused by our family. A police report was filed for the break in and was disregarded by your company. You are in the business of ripping off your tenants by keeping deposits without proper justification.
Hi Ashley, so sorry you had an issue. When reviewing your move out pictures it looks like there was a few items that need to be fixed/ replaced, yard was not cleaned up. All repairs were not ordinary wear and tear. We have 21 Days to return deposit. We do have to wait for crew to get all invoices over to us.
Negative experience: Moved out due to unlivable conditions and a non working toilet they outright refused in writing to replace.They harass tenants and constantly threaten to evict everyone via text messages and to throw away personal items and laundry left over 10 minutes. we lost a lot in laundry including high dollar nursing uniforms. They kept all of our deposit and then some for things we did not owe for. We are currently filing a claim against them.They were just sued and lost in a joint claim for illegally evictiing 82 at risk residents. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. I NOW HAVE TO FILE A LAWSUIT. JULIE IS THE WORST!
Hello LG, I am so sorry that this issue has happened. Upon investigating this we do ask the tenants for rent when they do not pay. If they don't we can send off for eviction. Clothes that are left over night in the laundry room of left unattended can be stolen. We have no control over that. Text messages are sent to all tenant in a blast text message. This is done to give everyone a friendly reminder about the rules. Looking at the notes it seems that you were not charged for items that should have been. You dropped off keys 6 days after move out date, no charge was done. You were only charged for items that were not ordinary wear and tear. Crew repaired all damages done to the unit plus to clean. Please review the invoices and pictures that were taken of the unit. Unit was not returned in the best condition. Again so sorry you feel this way. Negative experience: Completely unfairly robbed us of our security deposit, there was a leak in the roof, causing damage to the walls and carpet, and they blamed it on our dogs. Absolutely illegal landlord practices. Don’t trust them with your money.
Hi Nicholas, so sorry that you had a bad experience. When looking into your claims I reviewed the inspection. It looks like there was a lot of damages done to the property. These are not ordinary wear and tear. Unit smelled horribly from the notes and pictures showed stains in the carpet from your pet. Carpet had to be replaced. It also looks like you broke the lease. Disposition was done and you received some of your deposit back. All invoices have been sent to you. If you have any further questions please contact our office. Thank you
Fantastic experience: I didn't get the rental I was applying for, but they were great about helping me with the application process.
Hi Patricia thank you for taking the time. WE appreciate it! . This process takes about 5 days to get. When you do fill out an application we do have to wait to get landlord verification, employment verification, back ground check and other checks done. Not to mention the owners of the property give the approvals. The application process is a little tricky I am so glad we were able to help you.
Negative experience: The WORST rental company to ever work with ! Been a customer with them since 2021 up until March of 2024 . Workers are rude , they never answer phone calls in the office . Took photos of apartment on move in date after final walk through got a list of damages including damages that were present prior to us moving in . Put in several maintenance request over the time we lived on the property about the water heater , spent several months without hot water because they would never actually fix the problem just relight the pilot. Had to go back and forth with them several times .Save yourself the headache do not rent from clemmer & co

Negative experience: Lied and unreliable property management company. Accounting department charged tennant the utility bills but never paid the utility bills and they pushed it to owner’s responsibility. I will report it to the consumer board.

Negative experience: This company deserves a 0 star rating. 3300 Rio Mirada drive is on off buck Owens.. As an established who that acclaims to serve the community in helping out the homeless or less fortunate, the lack all basic requirements, care, attentiveness, professionalism, and integrity. My experience of 1 year on this property has been unpleasant to say at the least. From the blairing smoke alarm with no response of the medical or fire teams. The many unexpected drug overdoses, the rude, nonchalant, non attentive to the needs of the residents, the noisy neighbors, the excessive, sicking filth of rooms, a stench that's stomach turning, very noisy, extreme yelling, very disgusting, alot of water damage, leaks, my bathroom floor fences water from the unit upstairs twice with no concern from the management or the "owner". The tenants are always looking into the windows of other tenants, the theft is outrageous, violation of privacy is obserd, my room has many times without my consent, a much disregard to the respect of others or their needs. Alot banging in walls, floors and buttons to say at the least.. animal feces smeared on the sidewalk is common. Leta not forget in the elevators. Harassment at an all time high. Tenants who interfere with tenant personal business. Like a delivery of service from a outside source. The elevators often misfunction. The trash area are better now, pior proformance was very poor. Guest suggest other riffraff to my room who would eventually steal my prized possession like my laptop for college and my very expensive cellphones while I was in the room. I've been poisoned twice and had to go to the hospital once. I've been verbally attack by residents more than once. An experience to say at the least very distasteful and extremely unfortunate. My request had been ignored and overlook. My request ignored and overlooked. So I definitely recommend any type of rewarding behavior or experience from such a poorly ran or cared for established or people of service. The management has a bad stalking problem. I'm can assure you many laws and regulations required By the city of have been violated.. my movements and whereabouts are monitored with my consent and relayed to whomever for whatever reason. Very uncomfortable for a single beautiful younger lady who's worked very hard to rebuild and established the trauma I've endured and overcome in my life. Very noisy, .. Noisy is an understatement.. I can assure you it's not for my well being either. I've felt tormenting by behavior and actions during this tragic experience. With no changed results or effort. Which is unusual. I've lived on my own for many years and experienced such dissatisfaction. Ive never had my house broken into or any anything stolen outta it. So how could a person show their face or be proud to have their represented or advertised yet associatied.. lack of integrity. When you know better you so better. Who a person is irrelevant, how a business is ran speaks for itself and for them... Not recommend.

Fantastic experience: To be blunt Clemmer and co are amazing. I’ve never experienced such great property owners. You put in a request to fix something it’s done in no time. I have had one landlord better than Clemmer and that was because he would show up on Friday with a 12 pack. Clemmer. You are right up there with don but if you show up to my place with a 12 pack I’ll give you the title. That’s a hard one to earn.

Hi Trikeelah, so sorry you are having this issue. When upon investigating this issue it looks like we have sent pest control out several times. As per there report the issue is with the tenant. Leaving food out and not keeping up the unit. If you keep having this issue please submit a request and we can resent them out again. Thank you.
Negative experience: The worst management ever!!! Maintenance request are a joke and they will try to charge you for anything. You will never be able to get in touch with them unless you go to the office. Make sure you take pictures and document everything. Will never recommend these people ever.
Hi Josh, so sorry you had this issue. If the tenants cause the issues as per the lease agreement you are responsible for the cost. Our phones do ring non stop you can always text the system as well. You can always fill out a request online and upload pictures so we can see exactly what the issue is and send the right crew out. If you have any other concerns you can always call the main line and talk with the manager.
Negative experience: Very disappointed in the quality of service and unprofessionalism that this company and staff have shown towards my roommate and I. This company took over a lease from another rental company and now are trying to evict us over a true up bill for solar panels that was never written in our leases agreement. They have deducted $600.00 out of our account with out our permission and still have yet to show us the bill for said true up fees. We also share the pge meter with the tenant down stairs and that was never brought to our attention before signing the rental lease. We have tried to communicate with this company and the owner of the property and all we get is the run around and very rude attitudes. It's not our fault that the lease was written wrong, it's not our fault that you didn't over look the lease with the property owner before taking over his account. We have never been late with out rent, it has always been on autopay and is paid early. Now they are trying to evict us. How does any of this make any sense? Will never rent or recommend this company.

Fantastic experience: Julie was the one of the most kind managers I’ve ever came across, she made everything easy and she was also very accessible when it came to getting in touch with her. Especially with my mother who’s been in a wheelchair we truly appreciate her in every way.

Negative experience: I would not recommend at all. The negative comments on here are all true. They will not respond to any calls or messages. They rented me out an apartment which had homeless living in it. I didn’t have a choice but to take it at the moment. And still charged me a cleaning fee at the time of move out. They refused to look at my evidence of how trashy they delivered the apartment to me. And they will use your deposit to upgrade their apartments. Stay away from this place!!!
Hi Albert, so sorry you had an issue. Upon investigating it looks like the homeless persons did break in. Once it was brought to our attention we send crew and asap to fix any and all damages plus recleaned the entire unit. Unfortunately the homeless issue is an on going thing here in Bakersfield. Clemmer & Company do try to take every precaution to prevent. You did however leave the unit needing several repairs and cleaning. We did not charge you for any ordinary wear and tear items. It looks like you did most of your deposit back minus the repairs and cleaning.
Negative experience: Very horrible maintenance department, put in multiple requests to get things fixed at the apartment I was renting and it never got done, deducted money from my deposit for things that were damaged prior to me moving, do not rent from them.
Hi Saul, so sorry you had this issue. When investigating your move out. There was no move in paper work given. All work order that were made have been completed. All ordinary wear and tear issue were not charged. You did receive your deposit back minus the cleaning and repairs.

Negative experience: Terrible unresponsive office staff. Don’t bother calling, no one ever answers the phone. This has been my experience many times. Just recently AC broke down and a technician came out 5 days later. When the tech finally shows he repairs the unit by replacing a part. After repairs are done he spends about about 25 mins outside trying to get approval for the repair. He attempts to call the owner and the office; I call the maintenance supervisor and the office as well. No one answered or called back. He lets me know he will need to take off the part he just replaced if no one approves the invoice or if we aren’t able to reach anyone. What happens, no one answered or called back so he apologizes, removes the part and leaves. Keep in mind we just had a week where were in the upper 90s close to 100. I have an 11 month old at the house. I had to keep the fans on and opened the doors to cool down the house. This is unacceptable.
Hi Freddy, so sorry you had this issue. Unfortunately owners need to give approval. A vendor should never install a part then remove. We will be talking with this vendor so this situation will not happen again. Please bear with us we always need to get owners approval for anything over there pre determined amounts. These amounts differ between owners. I will be speaking with crew to see if we can figure out a better solution. Thank you for letting us know. Negative experience: I signed my lease on 5/31 and haven’t had a single day yet where I’m not dealing with MAJOR repairs and hazardous situations. Mark the “manager” is impossible to work with and I have a recorded conversation of him lying. Do not rent from them. You will be very sorry!!

Negative experience: Haven't even moved into the property yet. Several things need fixing and I can't reach anyone by phone, they only text (at their convenience) Maintenance Coordinator is EXTREMELY rude. Not a great experience so far. Hopefully it gets better.
