Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We understand moving and moving out can be stressful, and we always want tenants to feel heard. However, we also have a responsibility to protect our homeowners, especially when they are Active Duty service members who entrust us with the care of their homes while they are serving our country. For that reason, it is important to clarify a few facts for accuracy.

This home was professionally inspected and documented at move in by a licensed third-party inspection company. The property was clean, fully functional, and free of infestation at the time your children moved in on your behalf. You did not take occupancy until approximately 18 months later, so you were not present to see the original condition. By the time you personally arrived, the home was already in significantly different condition than when your children received the keys.

Regarding the move out, you vacated the property 30 days early, turned off the utilities in October, and left windows open. This was verified by the utility provider, not by our office. Turning off power and allowing a home to sit vacant and open in Florida weather caused severe humidity, pest, and maintenance issues. At the final walkthrough, the home had a significant cockroach infestation, including droppings and egg sacs inside the dishwasher and throughout the home. These conditions were thoroughly photographed and documented.

You were not charged for the full cost of restoring the home. In fact, we reduced charges significantly as a courtesy, despite the extensive condition issues, because you identified yourself as a veteran. However, the homeowner is also Active Duty Military, and we have a duty to protect the home they worked hard to purchase and entrusted us to manage responsibly.

The ceiling fan and remote were in perfect working condition at move in according to the inspection report. The remote returned at move out was chewed and nonfunctional. The fan had to be replaced. Replacement cost was billed appropriately and at a standard rate.

Removing pests, cleaning, addressing odors, and performing needed turnover work cost far more than what you were billed. You were only charged for basic cleaning, carpets, and a single pest treatment even though the vendor required more than one service. These were all valid, lease-compliant charges.

Property managers may change over time in any company, but this does not affect the documentation or expectations of a move in or move out. Every manager works from the same reports, photos, notes, and records.

We understand you were unhappy with the charges, and we attempted to resolve the matter fairly. It is not appropriate to leave false or misleading public statements about illegal charges. All charges were supported by documentation, photos, videos, invoices, and third-party inspection reports. We will respond to any regulatory inquiry with that evidence.

The property was professionally inspected and documented by a licensed third-party company at your original move-in. The home was clean, pest free, and in excellent condition. All appliances, fans, remotes, and fixtures were confirmed to be working at that time. Your own father (Philip Tang) did not move in until 18 months later, so he unfortunately never saw the true move-in condition.

By the time the home was vacated, the property had significant insect infestation, including hundreds of cockroach droppings inside the dishwasher, dead and active roaches throughout the home, and a chewed ceiling fan remote that no longer worked. We have timestamped photos of these conditions. These issues occurred during the tenancy and were not pre-existing.

In addition, the home was vacated 30 days early with no notice and utilities were turned off in the middle of Florida’s heat. We confirmed this directly with JEA. Power outages in rental homes cause immediate humidity, moisture, and pest escalation. Despite this, your family was charged only minimal cleaning, a discounted pest treatment, and a replacement fan due to the damage.

Our property managers communicated openly and professionally throughout the process. At no time did anyone attempt to “blame” tenants unfairly. We simply documented conditions and applied charges based strictly on the lease, the inspection reports, and the photographic evidence.

It is also important for the public to know that your family submitted multiple negative reviews across several profiles after being informed of the charges. We understand nobody enjoys move-out charges, but we cannot alter factual inspection reports or ignore documented damage, especially when we are responsible for protecting an Active Duty military homeowner’s property.

This decision created damage risk for the property and forced the owner, who is an active duty military service member, to incur additional expenses. Even so, we attempted to be lenient and work with the family because of their prior military connection. The ceiling fan and remote were also fully functional at move in and were documented as such. The remote that was returned at move out was chewed and non operational.

We understand that moving can be stressful, but our responsibility is to protect the homes of the owners who trust us, especially those serving our country. We cannot overlook or ignore damages, infestations, or lease violations simply because negative reviews are posted. Our records and photos clearly show that the condition of the home at move out did not match the condition at move in.

For anyone reading this, Navy to Navy Homes will always support both our tenants and our military homeowners with honesty, professionalism, and documented facts.
