Fantastic experience: My experience with Laricy Gary was fantastic I interviewed 5 different realtors, as I haven’t bought or sold a home in a very long time. Some were recommended, others I found on my own. Laricy Group was found by my doing a Google search from the realtors with the most sales in Chicago, where my home was. They were number 2. When I looked at their website, I looked to see if they had sold properties in the West Loop, which they had as I felt I needed a broker who understood my area. The interview process was interesting. Most showed up like they were “long lost friends”, casual clothes, jeans in some cases, brochures and most important as it turned out, no teams. All say they have a team, but as I found out, you have to dig to find out what tools the person or group you hire has available. My property was over $1 million, which to me is expensive After the interviews, I decided on Laricy Group due to: Honesty: They were the only group that upfront made it clear that to entice buyers, the seller typically ends up paying the buyer’s commission. When I asked in my interview, others, they typically dodged the question but when pushed, they generally said the seller pays. Pricing: To get you, most promise the sky, but in this market, you and the broker have to set a realistic price. New listings get the most views but keep in mind that views drift off as the property sits. I ended up with an offer on my first view that was good but held out and got a better bid a short time later. Professionalism: Everyone was great, from their staff, to online videos, to weekly updates on how many views online, how many showings took place in the week, what the potential buyers said about the property after the showing, and to the law firm they recommended that was just as hands on as Laricy Group was. Every step of the way was great. In the end, the home sold at a good price and rather quickly. Would I recommend Laricy Group. Absolutely and have to my closest friends.

Negative experience: EDIT: Not surprised to see a classic "non-apology, apology" from Matt. You can say what you want publicly but this was our experience and we stand by it. If all the things you said were true, it would NOT have been our experience. Goodbye. ------- I knew Matt was not the right guy for us when he started the first meeting I ever had with him by shaking my hand and opening up his iPad to go showcase how big his agency is and how they are #1 on a bunch of platforms. He showed me his revenue numbers and started going into how extensive their footprint is. There was no discussion about who I was, what I was looking for etc. Mate, as a potential client and first time home buyer with a modest budget you came across incredibly obnoxious and off-putting. I couldn't give a darn about these numbers. He kept looking at his phone and barely made eye contact. He had his speech rehearsed. It seemed to me he was already rushing to his next client appointment. We were not your middle eastern overseas investor client buying millions of dollars of lakefront real estate over a Zoom call earning you thousands of dollars in sales commissions. What us small time homebuyers care about is professionalism, respect, and personal attention. None of these were on display. I let it go and of course he quickly delegated our account to his rookie realtor the next day. His colleague showed us the first condo after their "extensive scouting" which turned out to be by the El tracks. Way to go guys and thanks for taking into account our request for a quiet home. With a comedically perfectly timed train that rushed by us and the window open so close to us I could practically smell the train stench, my dental fillings rattled. The piece de resistance was when rookie realtor enthusiastically asked us "well what do you guys think about the place?" We walked away from this agency right away. The flashy cars, the sleek ads, the Suits tv show vibes, #1 ratings don't matter much when you don't take the time to look at a clients budget or preference. All of this overhead comes at a cost. And that cost is your sub-par home. I do believe most of the positive reviews here. But I also believe they do not reflect the entirety of customer's experience working with Matt and team. Funny how negative feedback has a way of going away with threats from attorneys. Stay away from the sharks and go for a smaller agency who takes the time to know you and care about you.
