Experiencia negativa: Absolutely horrible service. Maitnance comes on their own times. Have left us with heat and hot water for days (giving us the run around on when it will be restored) & did not offer space heaters and/or hotel placement for my elderly grandmother and two 20 month olds. They absolutely suck! We jave tried reaching out various times they do not answer calls to any of the 7 numbers provided and then when they finally did answer they hung up without saying a word.

Experiencia negativa: This management company is awful. I’m a veteran and subsequently have lived in several professionally managed apartments across the country and never dealt with one so poorly run as this. The heat consistently goes out in my building for days at a time when the temperature reaches below 30 degrees for the past three years. The water gets shut off for several hours both of which scenarios often occur without any communication from Charlesgate. They are impossible to reach by phone or by email —they use a service that hides their emails in the off chance they decide to communicate with tenants. A quick google will show they’ve had several housing complaints and legal action taken against them.

Experiencia fantástica: Catie Beggan helped me find an apartment in Boston when I was relocating earlier this fall. Not only did she make the experience easy, but she found me a gem of a place within my budget. I struggled to find something that suited my needs, but once Catie got involved it was smooth sailing - she had multiple listings for me to see and organized viewings for one concentrated morning. She knew exactly what to ask at each space, and made sure to be candid in pointing out pros and cons. She handled everything for me from start to finish, and even followed up once I had settled in to ensure it was the right fit. Even better, she knew everything about my new area. Experiencia negativa: Terrible company ! I’ve moved out of one of the property they managed . I’ve been trying for over 3 months to get my deposit refund.Nothing yet . I’ve called and left message but no one calls back. I emailed several times. Each time they would reply like 2 weeks later with the answer of “ we’ll look into and get back to you”. It’s been 3 MONTHS! Don’t know the issue is. To this date, I still have not receive my refund yet. Just don’t know if and when I’ll get my money back. During my stay at the apt, it was next to impossible to have anyone come over to look at or fix an issue. I reported that there are roaches in the apt. They didn’t show up 2 weeks later. Also, Rats were all around the building . I was afraid of bringing the trash out to the dumpster bc the rats, even during the daylights. So many. What kind of property management is this ?? ; A very poorly run company

I am actively dealing with an issue that violates housing sanitary code. They have entirely stopped replying for several weeks despite multiple emails and calls (they push their phone to an after hours answering service during regular business hours). I’m truly only posting this review to get ANYONE to respond.

Experiencia negativa: Company of liars, their ethics is definitely a joke. My apartment was working on construction for the whole summer, but they only notified us 1 day prior to this. The construction starts from 7 am every day and largely influences my rest, but Charlesgate just acts like it's my fault. 1 star is the limit of Google reviews, but not the limit of this company's ugliness.

Experiencia negativa: DISGRACEFUL- I have waited nearly 1 month for a maintenance work order to get done by their team. NO COMMUNICATION, NO UPDATES. We have a mice infestation in our rental property with 3 kids including a 10 month old baby. Pest control came to our property and said they need to property management company to board up huge holes in the hard wood floors in the kitchen before the pest control can return to control the vermin infestation. I requested a maintenance to come and nearly 1 MONTH later, they have not called, emailed or scheduled the visit. This company is a disgrace the way they treat tenants/customers.

Experiencia negativa: Awful management company. Our floorboards started to lift up and separate due to structural issues, and now it’s a safety concern. They have had people come to look at it, but no one has fixed it in over 2 months! Then they mark it as ‘complete’ in the portal which is false. Do not rent from Charlesgate.

Experiencia negativa: If I could leave 0 stars I would. Beware if you are looking to rent an apartment at Vine Street in Weymouth and overall with this supposed “company”. It should concern you that the “property manager” if you want to call her that, has never been to the property. How you can be a property manager without seeing or stepping foot at the property itself is beyond me. We signed a lease to move in at the beginning of August but the tenant still had a whole month left on their lease. They do not care about their tenants in the slightest as it takes days if not weeks of repeated emails calls texts until they answer you. When they do answer they will just keep pushing it off and not taking you seriously. Joke of a management company and they should be ashamed that they employ people to manage properties that they have no idea what goes on in the buildings.

Experiencia negativa: Horrible management, no one answers you no matter how you try to contact them (phone, voicemail, email). They messed up our lease, we signed it and the current tenant still had a month left. Then they moved us into a temp unit that was unlivable and disgusting and wanted us to pay the same. Finally it was sorted and we moved into the new unit and someone entered our unit unlawfully and management took a week to answer us even though we had filed a police report. You get the experience of government housing when renting with Charlesgate. Unfortunately we’re stuck in a new lease otherwise we would be running as far away from their properties as possible. Very few employees in this company that care about the tenants and on the rare chance they do answer they will sigh the whole conversation like you’re burdening them asking them to do their job.

Experiencia fantástica: When we came back in the afternoon, we found there was no hot water and heat. After reporting the issue, a technician arrived in less than ten minutes. It required repair by the original manufacturer, and the problem was fixed in about an hour. Hot water and heating are crucial in winter, so we really appreciate the property management’s quick response.

Experiencia negativa: Will gladly move you into an unlivable moldy apartment with exposed wires (pictures are just a small sliver of the issue). Not even having the health department involved puts any pep in their step to fix unlivable conditions. They just want to make money, Charlesgate does not care about their tenants. Still expecting clients to pay and live in moldy dirty apartments while they take their sweet time coming and going to “fix” things with no time line or communication all from a place that is not cheap to rent. Before they come and say “we can’t find you in our system”, I am not personally a tenant but my girlfriend has been for two years and since Charlesgate doesn’t advocate for or care about their own tenants someone has to. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I put maintenance order for parking and l talked with apartment manager because our neighbor buildings keep parking our parking lot he told me he will update and customize parking signs and he told me he needed couple weeks. First one 05/16/2025 and second one 07/16/2025 l requested maintenance order our manager instead of fixing problem he cancelled both request without any solution in addition than he stopped answered our phones and texts. Also our parking lot has big broken glass table around dumpster and full of trash around the backyard l sent another picture at 7/30/25 nobody came and cleaned also my girlfriend requested another maintenance order and closed the case without any solution. Again tonight l came home and l couldn’t find parking l parked very tiny place it was last one and there was a lot of new cars parked because we don’t have any clear sign like other buildings. Even people park fire lines because there is no parking anymore. I didn’t want to write here but l don’t have any other option me and my girlfriend tried everything with maintenance requests but now even nobody answer our phone calls.

Experiencia fantástica: I was recently inspected the woman actually failed me i have never failed an inspection in 30 years no fails she failed me because the cover on the bathroom vent was lifted up slightly the maintenance man was actually in the hallway waiting for me he fixed it he was quick quicker than anybody i ran the outside to stop the inspector she had just pulled out if the parking lot i can not say enough for this maintence man i have lived here for over 8 years if i ran quicker down the hall i would of been able ro have the same inspectior who failed me see it fixed all in the day unheard of charlesgate maintence in 8 years has the best maintence team apt 22 thanks you for your speedy fix to my unit unheard of fail an inspection and was able to pass it 3 minutes later thank you

Experiencia negativa: (Two weeks and counting...): Thank you for your response and for stating that the issue would be resolved "as quickly as possible." It’s now been two weeks, and unsurprisingly, the back door is still broken—just like it has been for the past three months. No updates, no progress. I guess in this case, “quickly” is a relative term. Hopefully at some point, words will turn into action. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It’s been over three months since our back door broke, and despite multiple maintenance requests, it still hasn’t been fixed. Other issues we’ve reported have also been ignored or met with empty promises. The management seems unresponsive and dismissive. It's really disappointing to see such a lack of accountability from a property company.

Experiencia negativa: If I could rate lower I would. This is the worst place I've ever lived. I’ve barely had a night of uninterrupted sleep since moving into this unit. Constant construction in the early morning and no sound proofing in the units so if my neighbors are awake so am I. Contractors have entered my apartment without notice, or with notice but disregarding my schedule. There's all sorts of pests in the building, rats, cockroaches, house centipedes, drain flies, other insects? On top of this, the rent is still so high, the same price as much better rentals. I wouldn't mind the high rent so much if I could actually sleep, but why am I paying this amount of money to be chronically exhausted? I don't usually write reviews and I imagine most people won't see this before signing a lease. But I hope if you happen to see this before moving in, you decide to live somewhere else.

Experiencia negativa: Literal trash. Awful management, still to this day dont know who my property manager is. Have reached out countless amount of times and get redirected until I eventually get sent to a voicemail box for someone who probably doesnt even work there anymore. Pipe burst above our apartment leading to major water damage, not once did we hear from the property manager. Instead contractors showed up and told us we had to leave. Weren't offered housing until 5 days later, minimal communication from them during the entire ordeal. Yet they were still insistent that rent had to be paid in a timely manner while we couldn’t even live there.

Experiencia negativa: If I could rate Charlesgate 0 stars I would. They are the most unresponsive company I’ve ever had the displeasure of working with. We hired them as a property manager for our condo building. They regularly never respond to emails, never put out of offices up when they’re out of office, and when we parted ways with them, there were still several issues that had been lingering for several months that they never assisted us with. This escalated so badly, that we had to start emailing the partners at the company and have a meeting with them. It seemed like things might have changed for the better after that, but then the lack of response returned. There would be charges on our ledger for services they couldn’t provide proof were even done like landscaping on our property where after following up for months about, we eventually got a refund for. One of our vendors canceled a contract with us, and we never found out until six months later when trying to contact them directly due to Charlesgate’s lack of follow up. Just overall a terrible experience. Their quality of work used to be regarded as one of the best in the Boston area, but it’s clear from our experience over the last year that this is no longer the case.

Experiencia fantástica: My family and I sold our first home last August with the help of Jack Vassiliadis. Jack was helpful and knowledgeable. During the selling process we were also buying a new home. This can be stressful but Jack sold our home within the time- frame we needed and helped make it a very smooth transition for all of us. Experiencia fantástica: We live in Thorndike Exchange in Lowell Massachusetts. Our property manager, Lynn Whalen, is simply excellent and responsive to every request! Earlier this week we had an issue with our garbage disposal, which was communicated to Lynn and was resolved by her very able assistance Steve within hours! Both did an incredible job. We are very fortunate to live here!

Experiencia negativa: Very disappointed in the handling of my complaint about smoking on property. The lease says no smoking on the property or in the units. Yes someone is smoking at early hours and late at night and it's coming into my unit and making me sick. They continue to insult me by saying I need to just shut my windows when it's not coming in the windows; if anything opening my windows helps air the place out. No one answers my phone calls; it's always the "answering service." Update: The property manager also lied about the heating being turned off. And we still don't have "No Smoking" smoking signs posted anywhere.

Experiencia negativa: I am having an incredibly frustrating experience with Charlesgate Real Estate. I have rented with them in the past but these last two years in this location have been absolute hell. Their responsiveness and professionalism are far below what I expect from a reputable agency. Despite reaching out multiple times via email and phone, I receive little to no communication. When I do manage to get in touch, responses are slow, vague, and often seem dismissive. The lack of follow-through on basic inquiries is astounding—it’s clear they don’t value their clients or the time of prospective renters/buyers. To make matters worse, I don’t have heat on the coldest days of the year, and they are completely unhelpful in addressing the issue. (The only one who has been trying to help is Danielle) For an agency that claims to be reputable, the unprofessionalism and lack of accountability are beyond disappointing. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you’re seeking a reliable, responsive real estate agency. Wish I could give no stars.

Experiencia negativa: I've been having a bathtub leak sense the end of September I let them know several times and here it is almost christmas and they still have not fixed it the property management that was running this property before them were La Machia Property and when ever I reported anything wrong in the house they were here the next day I would not recommend property owners to switch over to Charlesgate property stick with who you have now they do not do a great job at fixing things in the house but are quick to collect rent on time use at your own riskkkkk

Experiencia negativa: Unresponsive and disorganized. When we moved into our apartment there were several issues including two broken windows. Over 3 months later, neither window has been fixed and our last 3 emails to our property manager have gone unanswered. They have sent 3 people to”Quote” or “assess the repairs” but have yet to fix it.

Experiencia negativa: It was an awful experience. Not only were they bombarding me with tours during the last month of the lease, but I am still receiving utility bills for my apartment that I vacated three months ago. Before I left, I asked them to stop my water services on the last day of my lease (the apartment management had to interact with my water services). However, they did not. I followed up with them through email, yet there was no response. I am not sure how much more I have to pay for the usage period I was not even occupying the apartment.

Experiencia fantástica: A few weeks ago, we had new appliances installed in our unit, and the experience was fantastic, thanks to the exceptional support and assistance from Christian Mazraani and his colleague. Shortly after, we encountered another issue—a water leak under our bathtub. Once again, Christian provided outstanding support. He went above and beyond to ensure the repairs were handled efficiently and without delay. His prompt responses and invaluable advice turned what could have been a stressful situation into a smooth and manageable process. Thank you!

Experiencia negativa: Garbage. Move anywhere else. Paying thousands of dollars per month and management doesn’t even respond to emails. Whoever manages 282 Bremen is an absolute nightmare. The maintenance guys are great, so this isn’t an indication of them.

Experiencia negativa: The most unresponsive management I have ever dealt with. They took over our building a few weeks ago and since then there was a gas leak in the building. The fire department had to come and turn off gas lines. I have a 3 month old at home so this was very concerning. The next day we came home to several people going in and out of our unit without a single piece of notice. Maintenance told me at that time that they will need to come back on 11/5 for repairs. I reached out to management to see if they had more info regarding exactly what was happening for the health/safety of my family. As well if/when they will need access or unit so that I could make preparations around my home to keep my pets and family safe while they work. They still have given no information to tenants regarding the issue after almost two weeks. I have tried to contact different people in different ways and have gotten no response. Maintenance was supposed to come into our unit for repairs today, they showed up to the building, worked for maybe an hour and a half in the basement and left without saying anything. Do they still need to come into our unit? Couldn’t tell you. Haven’t been told anything. Ridiculous.

Experiencia negativa: Highly incompetent project management company. - they were engaged for an asbestos abatement program. Here is how things went: A) unannounced full day water shut offs and many water shutoffs with less than 24 hour notice B) complete inability to deliver on schedule, the project was supposed to be delivered by the summer and today (November) there is no end in sight C) they post memos in the elevator referencing what will happen next week but fail to date the memo making it difficult for residents to know what next week is (this is made worse by point B, you never know what their schedule is) These are three items that are top of mind, but in general this has been a very unpleasant ~6 months.

Experiencia negativa: Living in a Charlesgate property has been an absolute nightmare, and I can't express enough how disappointed and frustrated I am with the management. The building I live in is six floors high, not including the rooftop, and for the second time, the elevator is broken. That's right—twice. And what happened the first time it was fixed? The maintenance took a week to fix the one elevator in the building. A WEEK, you would think this would be considered an "emergency" to fix it. They expect residents to just climb 4, 5, or 6 flights of stairs every single day as if it's no big deal. To make matters worse, they’ve pretty much said, “Good luck” to those of us who physically can’t climb that many stairs. They’ve given out false dates for when the elevator and other various maintenance requests will be fixed, leaving us stranded without any real solution in sight. It's beyond unacceptable. On top of that, there’s an alarm in the lobby that goes off on a regular basis, and guess what? They don’t seem to care about that either! It's just another thing they brush aside as if it's not important. The management at Charlesgate doesn’t seem to care about the residents at all. Our concerns are consistently ignored—if we even manage to get through to management, as they rarely respond or address our issues—leaving us to fend for ourselves in a building that’s barely being maintained.It’s infuriating to see a business like this still running when they clearly do such a poor job of fulfilling their basic responsibilities. I honestly can’t believe how poorly they handle things, and I'm extremely disappointed with this entire experience. Avoid this place at all costs.

Experiencia negativa: Resident of a Charlesgate property and management is embarrassingly absent and doesn’t care. I would advise against renting from them! Management response rate is slow to none, lots of “I don’t know”, and false promises IF you’re able to get ahold of someone. I have an email chain that’s almost 2 months long - regularly I am asking for follow up and they have done exactly nothing to remedy the laundry list of issues with my apartment. Their latest response was to meet with someone and they canceled the appointment the day before. Keys were not available on move in day and no one would answer the phone. When I was let in by the leasing agent (not his job), they didn’t have keys so I had to leave my apartment unlocked for a few days. The building I’m in has known electrical problems - they don’t disclose this. My food spoiled and my apartment smelled like a dumpster because I was gone during one of the 5 power outages in 2 months. The way the circuit breaker pops is a safety issue. They don’t care. Apartment was dirty upon move in. They don’t care. Package was stolen. Despite having cameras and a locked community, they won’t even help fix the issue. No response to community issues - noise, building amenities, etc. Keep a paper trail of everything and contact a good lawyer! If you are in a Charlesgate property reading this and have issues, look up ways to report them and your property to the state/city.

Experiencia negativa: My previous property management company was sold to Charlesgate. It's been two months with Charlesgate and my property mangaer hasn't responded to any of my requests. I tried to call them to talk and no one's answering. Very disapppointed so far.

Experiencia fantástica: After moving into my apartment, there was an unfortunate accident that caused my apartment to flood. Katelynn from the management team has been exceptionally helpful and supportive throughout this challenging time. Her quick response and proactive assistance have made a difficult situation much easier to handle. I truly appreciate the outstanding service and care provided by the apartment management. If you’re looking for apartment in this area, my suggestion would be to consider this management as a first option!

Experiencia negativa: The quality of the property was quite low, the front door actively did not work for a majority of the lease, nor did the kitchen sink. When I asked to leave a matter of weeks early, there was no response from the property manager for almost a month. After some prodding, he responded saying he was not willing to let me leave until he was able to find another tenant.
