Experiencia negativa: I won't use The Odd Couple again. If you're looking for a killer agent who will hustle to make a great deal for you, this isn't the team. They're nice, just so, so nice! But in real estate you don't want nice. You want a shark. These folks are minnows. At closing I was sent the seller's checklist. Dearest reader, I was the buyer. The whole time I found myself being my own advocate in the deal, pointing out flaws and issues and asking them to do better. I was met with a mild, okay. Had I not raised the issues, they certainly would have been fine with me signing whatever was presented, with no push back. Aside from being sent seller's paperwork (which I still have), I sincerely felt like they were working for the seller, and not for me, the buyer. I found 3 home listings that I sent to my agent, and I bought the third house that I FOUND that was subsequently shown to me. I paid the (high) full commission without complaint. At closing, as in previous instances when I have purchased a home, The Odd Couple gave me NO CLOSING gift. Nothing. Way to fumble at the end by being cheap. At the very least I've been given generic mid-champagne ala Veuve, more thoughtfully I was given an envelope of gift cards to local businesses, and once a realtor gave me a Christmas ornament with the house I purchased hand painted on it by a local artist. I've ALWAYS gotten a closing gift. Not from The Odd Couple. Again, this team is "Minnesota nice." There was no hug. There was no hand shake at the end. I was given the keys, and that was it. Buying a house from them felt as significant as blowing my nose. So, when it comes time to sell the house that I found for myself, I won't be using them. As a frequent home buyer, I also in good conscience don't want other buyer's to think how The Odd Couple Team operates is how it's supposed to be, or feel. You should get a gift at the end. You should feel excited to have bought a home. Your agent should be excited for you. I've never written a Google Review before, but felt absolutely compelled. There are thankfully better realtors out there, I hope you find them instead. Update: Based on the reply from The Odd Couple Team themselves, sadly they've shown EXACTLY what they're like to do business with. Run! That is a company that does not comprehend accountability. Deflecting publicly in such a way is a failure at Business 101. Let's treat this as a teachable moment with how their response SHOULD have gone: We're so sorry we let you down. If there is anything we can do to make it right, or change your perspective on us, or our company, please reach out and let us know. We take full ownership of not handling things at a standard set by our betters in this field, and feel horribly about sending the incorrect paperwork (more than once), and not advocating for you. We're sorry we did absolutely nothing to make the purchase of a home feel significant. We said we prize integrity and genuine relationships but we did nothing to demonstrate that, or cultivate one with you, our client. We showed this lack of care in our unfortunate reply. We didn't guide you through the purchase of a home, and instead of owning our lack of acumen, we are being messy until the very last for all of Google to see. That's not how we should conduct ourselves, and we can and should reflect. We're used to representing people who might not know any better, and that's served us very well. Giving a gift during such a significant moment in someone's life is a great idea, we misspoke by qualifying sharing joy and marking a life milestone as flashy. Please reach out to us if you'd like to connect, again, we apologize. INSTEAD, as you can see with your own eyes, they can't accept feedback. Imagine doing a deal with them! They acknowledge you won't get a great advocate and that their style is lacking, but at least they get to cultivate faux relationships and be guides through storms? LOL. God help you if you end up having them represent you in a transaction. Once they discover hashtags #closinggift #realtorgift - it'll blow their minds.

Lisa Leitner was the perfect choice for our agent; she knew the market, she knew the neighborhood and she knew our family situation. The house needed some work but was basically sound. Should we sell to a flipper as-is? Should we go all out and make everything like new? Or should we take the middle path, and do just enough repairs to bring the house to market. We were returning from Germany back to MN and an overseas move was a headache enough with all the moving parts, but Nick made the purchase of our first home truly seamless!! When we were visiting during the summer before, he made appointments for endless showings, in a very short amount of time, so we could see every house that was available, that had our specifications. It seemed like we were never going to find one (as the market was SO hot in that moment) that fit in our price range and had our specific requirements. Nick was so accomodating with me messaging him at all hours of the day, asking a million questions, even dealing with us declining on a bidding war that made it down to "pennies" in the long run but just didn't feel right for us in the moment.
