Experiencia negativa: Update as of 5-29-24: DO NOT RENT OR BUY FROM PROLIFIC!!! Keep in mind they filter out the bad comments on their Facebook page. Many community programs, such as Goodwill, refuse to work with Prolific because they are so incompetent. please! Reach out to me if you have questions and I will show you just how poorly they treat their tenants and how dispicable and made up their website is. I have many many pictures of how dirty the apartment was upon move in. Prolific scheduled a tour while the previous occupant was still living there so I didn't see it in a "ready to rent" state until prolific handed me the key 2 weeks later but made me pay for the whole month. They spent the 1st 2 weeks of the month doing "maintence". Needless to say, plenty of maintance was needed upon a new tenants (my) move in. One photo is my move out deposit explanation and a prime example of how they will rip you off. Update 1-23-24. After reporting to prolific that my pipes freeze up (even though they will deny it) this year, my pipes froze and broke. I was very upset. I had to pull tooth and nail to even get Prolific to pay for me to stay at the motel for a night since their was water flooding my floors (again, I have plenty of photos for anyone who wants to see). A few months later, they evicted me. That is how they take care of "their tenants". They are the worst people I have ever rented from. They DO NOT CARE about YOU!!! or the buildings their renters are living in. All they care about is the money that is coming in every month and doing what they need to for their residents to get by. When I first moved in I was told that the apartment was professionally cleaned. It WASNT. There were staines all over the ceilings, the toilet seat didn't fit the toilet, the carpets that were suppose to be professionally cleaned posed me to empty my vacuum cleaned at least twice for every room I was in. The apartment was so disgusting, my boyfriend and I went to buy a carpet cleaner ourselves and have since "professionally" cleaned the carpets 4 times since moving in last october. The amount of filth we picked up the first time was indescribable. Nonetheless, the apartment looks better now than it did when we moved in. I have been waiting since last summer for their maintance people to put a screen and rail on my basement window apartment after they messed up the measurment the first time and failed to fix another window that was out of its seal. It has been almost 7 months and I still haven't got a screen for my window yet and the storm window that maintance "fixed" broke back to the way it was the 2nd time I closed it, ECT. I send my rent in via mail to avoid the $12 service fee on their website. I mailed it on the 1st of march. They contact me via email on the TWELTH!!!! OF MARCH! saying they still haven't gotten it. Mind this has happened before where they fine me with late fees even though the check is in their mail box. After leaving 3 different voicemails on their machine, within 2 days and not hearing anything back, I called them again today and finally got in touch. First they sent a letter in the mail on the 10th (that I opened this morning) saying my rent hasn't come tacked on with $100 worth the late fees. Today I'm sitting at home and a cop serves me court papers. I will NEVER rent again nor will I advise any friends or family to rent with this company. I am usually never one to be late on my payments. I payed my car loan off 1 year early. With covid, things have been difficult and money has sometimes been tight, but these people will not work with you. I was fortunate enough to get my rent due date extended out to the 5th of the month when covid was really bad. They are the most selfish, ruthless incompitent people I have ever rented from and one of my biggest mistakes. Please save yourself the trouble! Update: 5 years later. Only still living here due to inflation and not being able to find a house. absolutely would not recommend renting to anyone. They are a big company surviving in college towns seeking to take advantage of peoples $

Experiencia negativa: When my daughter received keys for her apartment, I went to go walk through the unit with her. She was informed that a walk through was completed and documented. Upon my inspection of the unit, it was not "move-in ready". After 10 years in property management and understanding what is "move in ready", my expectations include a clean unit. I found 3 propel drink packets in the cupboard and forever stamps in another cupboard which indicates that it was not cleaned. I also seen a large amount of orange/yellow mildew buildup in the shower. The caulking looked as if a small child got a hold of the caulk gun. It was horrible. I have a 17 minute video on my phone, along with a detailed move in inspection documented after reviewing the video for over an hour of documentation. It also included a request for a rent concession toward her rent. My daughter also submitted a maintenance request to have a few items repaired that I felt were a hazard (transition strip with nails sticking up is just one example). From my understanding, her camera has not witnessed anyone entering to remedy her request. Upon move out, I will be performing her cleaning to ensure security deposit and interest (within 30 days post marked - ND law) is returned to her. Again, my knowledge of ND housing laws will protect her from her hard earned money being taken from her Upon moving out.

Experiencia negativa: I flew into a bit of a panic when our first apartment application elsewhere didnt work out but i called prolific and two days later we signed a lease. The staff is so friendly and quick even though their leasing agent was out at the time stacy stepped in and was a dream to work with! June 2024 update- DO NOT MOVE HERE IF YOU HAVE A BULLY BREED DOG EVEN IF YOU HAVE A LEGITIMATE ESA LETTER!!!!!!! I provided my esa letter to adopt a pit bull from a friend as the property management has breed restrictions and i was told it is not sufficient until they speak directly with my doctor that wrote it. First they tried to request that my doctor call them- which get a lesson in patient privacy laws. And now they have dragged their feet so bad trying to “authenticate” the letter that my dog has had to be rehomed and i am unable to get him back. Not to mention that they took my husband’s esa letter for his dog, that is not a restricted breed, without a second thought. Seriously disappointed.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give this place a negative zero I would when I moved out they charged me for made up charges like $30 for 8H of electricity. When my monthly Electrical bill wasn't even $25 a month. The walls of the apartment were paper thin. My nahybor had 6 dogs in his apartment unit and couldn't sleep some nights and I work 60H plus a week. But the worst one was one of there property management people walk into my unit while I was taking a #2 and I live alone so I had my door open, yes that bad. And lots of time they wanted to go into my unit to work on it but that should of been done before I moved in. And they said if I could be there they will just have to go in. So yea my privacy was being invaded.

Experiencia negativa: I would advise not to rent from this company. After leaving my apartment in good shape and taking out every bit of furniture, they sure tacked on the fees. Explain to me how it takes 4.5 hours to clean a 500 square foot apartment. Excluding carpet cleaning! Give me 50 dollars and I would have that place spotless in an hour. Also how can you justify charging $400 for paint! There was three small spots that needed touch up paint and somehow they decided that it is costing them $400! They also blamed me for bending one of the electric burners on the stove that was bent since the day I moved in. I moved here for the sole reason that they are close to the college campus, but if I knew that they were gonna be greedy as soon as I stepped out that door, I would have never rented here in the first place.

Experiencia negativa: Auto payment turned off in my son’s lease— Lexi in the office led him to believe he was renewing auto payment— it was a NEW lease. How do you have someone sign a new lease when they are asking for help with their payment. CROOKED!! We told you when it happened in April (immediately) it was an error and they were moving out in May. Yet … Prolific goes on business as usual .. and ignores us stating it was a mistake.. that is how they get rent over the summer in a college town! CROOKED!!

When you move out they will charge you up the wall for anything and everything, don't expect your security deposit back. You're not getting it.

Experiencia negativa: My son signed a 90 day lease with these guys with me as a cosigner because he was moving to Wahpeton ND for the summer for an internship with Comdell. He moved in June 1st and told them he would be out by September 1st. He notified Lexi the property manager around August 15th asking where to leave the keys because he was moving back home for the school year. She said that since he did not give a 30 day notice that he was moving out he owed September rent. We argued that we signed a 90 day lease and that they had a 90 day notice of when he was moving out. He was only there in the evenings during the week to sleep and not there on the weekends. We reviewed the lease and it is in there that you must give a written 30 day notice before moving out. Now we have been asking them for a final bill to settle the matter and they do not answer the phone and still have not provided us with a final bill. It is now October 27th and I just got the final bill with late fees on it. They just keep adding late fees and not answering the phone. This company is shady and do shady business. They are crooks and I will never do business with them again. I was ready to hire a lawyer to get a final bill and it just showed up today. I have never been reported late on my credit report in my life and i would be very angry if this shady company ruins my perfect credit score. DONT TO BUSINESS WITH THEM. THEY ARE SHADY AND CROOKED! We just got the final bill in the mail today, we understand it says giving a 30 day notice in the lease but they have the audacity to add over $100 late fees for a bill we have been asking for, for 2 months!!! They also raised the rent when they found out he was there for the summer and he was working for Comdell. I hope Comdell doesn't recommend them anymore if this is how prolific property management is going to treat their interns.

Experiencia negativa: What an absolute joke of a company. We moved our family here from the east coast so choosing this company online seemed to be great. Our first day we arrived to a dog feces covered grass area(which they did get the dog stations to try and help, I’ll give them that.) Once entering our new apartment, I immediately knew I needed to deep clean everything. We had to take down our blinds due to them being yellow and covered in dirt from previous renters. I had to scrub the walls/ceilings in our bathrooms because of previous renters smoking. We trusted the nice woman who did our walk through as she signed off saying everything was good, when clearly it was not. However we let it go, cleaned ourselves and made the best out of our new apartment. Come winter time there is no assigned parking, so you have cars parking in multiple spots, leaving not enough parking spots for paying tenants to use. Due to the no assigned parking everytime it snows you are required to shovel your own car out, but then once you come back need to shovel a new spot because the previous shoveled spot has been taken. Our cars have gotten stuck multiple times in the parking lots because of their plow company not coming to plow them when needed. We did have a few maintenance issues that were resolved quickly. Now we are being sent a bill of almost $500 for “11.5” hours of cleaning, but when we did our final walk through we were told “this is the cleanest apartment we have had.” We are being charged for removing a single child lock on 1 cabinet door. We had forgotten a single bath towel and we’re charged $29 to remove said towel, just pathetic. Literally charged for any tiny thing they were able to. We had received complaints about our puppy barking(which is understandable.) Meanwhile, all of our neighbors were awake and partying until 3-4am waking up our son multiple times, but nothing was said to them. I have found drugs in the common hallways that my toddler was easily able to get to, but yet we were such a problem because of our barking dog. We loved living Wahpeton, but do yourself the biggest favor and never rent from Prolific! There are multiple apartment complexes in the town that are far better!

Experiencia negativa: I would have rated 3 stars due to the company not up keeping common area. And not holding everyone accountable for complaints but do so to others. But after giving them back an apartment in good condition, and having their employee tell us that this is one of the easiest final checks, they still nickel and dimed us for stuff that was in poor condition when we received it. Also, was noted on the move in. But unfortunately, even tho they were able to re rent the apartment less than 40 days after move out, I still have to pay them more money because it would cost more to fight it. This is a crooked company that doesn’t care about the people who give them so much money. There are much better apartments in the area, and I highly suggest you shop around before settling for anything from prolific.

They don't take care of reoccurring issues repeatedly called about at Apts. They make promises to take care of issues and never show. They hire incompetent repairmen to try and fix issues. Basically worthless.

Experiencia fantástica: When my wife and I were looking for a place to live, we started by looking online. Being 77 miles away, looking at places online is the best way to get started. Prolific’s website had the best photos and descriptions of what was available. We looked at one in person right after Christmas and that appointment was delayed twice due to winter storms. I was afraid to call them and reschedule again but they were so understanding and was willing to work with us on it. We decided not to take the place because we didn’t want to move in January, but the very positive experience we had with Prolific, we knew we wanted to deal with them. Another place opened up a couple months later and we looked at it and jumped on it right away. The process of moving is always hard, but the best and most positive part was working with the staff at Prolific. They were so helpful, kind and pleasant to work with. They made you feel welcomed. They advertise putting people first and they really do. I am thankful to the staff at Prolific for being so kind, professional and helpful and for making us feel right at home in our new apartment. I’ve rented in the past from other property managements and I can honestly say they could take lessons from Prolific!!! They are certainly the best! Thank you!!!

Experiencia negativa: I wish I could give these slamlords zero stars, they are a rip off and will charge you a ton of money when you do move out it doesn’t matter how much you clean the apartment yet they will send you a big statement. I wish I had taken pictures of the apartment after cleaning so I could take them to court. They will try to get cash out of you in every way they can. Stay away from this company!

Experiencia fantástica: Prolific has been an absolute dream to work with. They’ve made contact with me and helped me get everything done online and have provided me with all my instructions and documents needed either by text, call, or email. I’m 18 hours away and this has been the easiest thing I've had to do to provide me with a comfortable place to live. Jez, Lexi, & Britta have been wonderful.

Experiencia negativa: Updated 11/15 I did not list any incorrect information above. You are gouging the kids. You may feel better about yourself, my opinion remains the same. Do not rent from this entity. Do not rent from this place. Charge 84.00 for 2 supposed light bulbs out and shower plunger that was not there when moved in. Says door knows broken and worked fine when moved out. Charged 120.00 for key replacement but was denied access to apartment that we paid rent for. Treated our military boys badly.

Experiencia negativa: Not worth your money! Cons: -They have raised my rent $100 over the course of time I’ve lived here. The apartments are not at all worth what they charge for them. They’re in an unsafe part of town, there is no garage, no dishwasher, and the stairs are always breaking. The laundry “room” is a long, dark hallway with exposed pipes and plywood walls that you can barely fit through if you’re taller than 5’10. They are generous and give you an assigned parking space but if it’s close to the recycling like mine, people just throw their trash in your spot. All in all, it’s a mess. -I’m currently renting through here. Rent is always due on the 1st of each month. I waited to pay my rent ONE day late as it was my pay day. I was charged a $60 late fee. All the other places I have rented from have given a 5 day window before they charge a late fee. I was not made aware of the late fee. -The building itself also seems like it wasn’t made to be apartments. Bathroom is very small. No dishwasher, and very little counter space. The laundry room is convenient but it’s not a place that you want to sit in if you want to wait for your laundry, which you have to, otherwise things will get stolen. pros: -The building is very charming and having lots of windows is nice. -maintenance seems to be speedy and get the job done when requests are put in. The building has potential to be nice but it’s not put to use. I feel like I am overcharged for what I receive. The price of the apartment does not match the quality of the building or of the services received.
