Experiencia positiva: I've been in the new Halsey House in Brooklyn for 2 days now and have already submitted 2 helpdesk tickets: One for the showers and one for outlets that don't work (some do work but there are outlets that don't work all over the house). I suggest people don't move into Halsey House until Common does a run through of the building to make sure it is move-in ready. To their credit, they have been very responsive in emails, but we'll see how quickly the issues can be resolved. Edit: Potential residents should also be aware that cleanings of some houses, including Halsey are biweekly (not weekly as was printed on the website when I signed my lease...), and that restocking of common supplies occurs anywhere from monthly to tri-monthly. Running out before restock day means paying out of pocket.

Experiencia negativa: I am a current tenant in one of their properties known as the Brooklyn in OAK, CA that was taken over by a different management company. The Common keeps sending me notices that I am behind on rent when they are not even entitled to the rent because they no longer manage the property. They even threatened to go after my credit score if I do not pay them rent that is not owed to them because they no longer service the address I live in. I have tried to get a hold of them for several months via phone calls and email with 0 response. DO NOT use any of their properties. I am in the middle of filing a lawsuit against them based on this.

Experiencia fantástica: Update: overall if you are looking for a room to rent this is a very nice location. It’s one block or one half block from Bart and bus lines are right outside. There are eateries around the area and Chinatown is across the street as a matter of fact I think the building is in Chinatown! I’ve been living here since 2023 and I walk to work sometimes or take bus or Bart! The cost is a little high for room rental but we live in Cali!!!! So far it’s a nice place to live. Update: they are a work in progress. I decided to renew my lease instead of doing research and seeking another place to live. This company has made good progress since I’ve moved in last year and they have taken control of the building. In my previous comment, it was centered around their getting situated; and I didn’t realize at the time people needed to be hired, and that takes time. They are still working out the bugs, but I have decided to give them a real chance as my place of residence. It took over three (3) weeks to complete this request of a clogged sink, with weekly update email apologies concerning how long it is taking. This really is not acceptable although it has to be accepted by the tenants.

Experiencia negativa: My experience with Common has been extremely frustrating, particularly regarding the return of my security deposit. I moved out weeks ago and have been repeatedly following up on the status of my deposit, only to be met with silence. Despite multiple emails and inquiries, Nilson, the Team Lead Manager, has failed to provide any clear communication or update on when I can expect my deposit to be returned. The lack of responsiveness and transparency is completely unacceptable. It's clear that once you're no longer a tenant, Common loses any interest in providing basic customer service. I would strongly advise against renting from Common if you value timely and fair handling of your security deposit.

Experiencia negativa: If this was a year ago I would've given this company 4 stars however they have continued to disappoint me. I have had no AC for weeks now and I can't even get a person on the phone. They deleted my account so I can't submit a ticket for repairment and they don't respond to my emails. They started out great but definitely are inconsistent. Glad my building is switching management company. Do not recommend.

Experiencia negativa: Current tenant (Using a different user name): (this is an update) Over 48 hours without power at Common Brower in Brooklyn! Multiple tickets submitted, no response, and all my food is spoiled. The emergency line is useless ("no one available") after 10 calls after calling for multiple days. Can't even use the microwave or even cook because the stove is electric and there's no power. Can't charge my phone or laptop. The AC is off so it's extremely hot because it's summer. Unbearable conditions. Uncollected trash outside the building for over a week (emails with pictures sent, ignored). This is unacceptable and a health hazard. Company filed for bankruptcy. Google it! Rent here at your own risk.

Experiencia negativa: My girlfriend lives here and the company doesn't pay its utility bills for months apparently, EVEN THOUGH THEY CHARGE THEM FOR IT, because the hot water and gas has been off for 2 days and there is ZERO way of getting in contact with anyone, not just now, but EVER. This is absolutely ridiculous and ILLEGAL. They haven't sent and email or anything , nothing (like always), to assure tenants it's being taken care of. FIX IT.

Experiencia fantástica: I just moved in this apartment and I’m really satisfied with their services and mostly the room, very clean and comfortable.it's worth for the price. The glass counter top in the bathroom was already broken so had to reach out to them. They reply most of the message in a day and they came to fix it pretty quickly! Thank you

Experiencia negativa: Not worth it. Constant theft and Common refuses to view cameras without police involved. Closet broken upon move in, reception dirty for weeks with multiple cleaning requests in, balcony is a hazard and hasn't been addressed since LAST YEAR. This company has to be going under because you cant even speak to a person, property managers don't respond for days (ILLEGAL), the "emergency" hotline does not ring, bed bugs, rats, and they haven't responded to my formal request via BBB for WEEKS (as required by BBB), 311 called WEEKLY due to negligence. Locked out of the apartment for a week with no solution or compensation or way in (ILLEGAL), building have 20+ open litigation cases due to negligence. Services taken away at will and rent was to be raised by ?? $500 ?? when there leaky AC, mold, rats. The worst customer service of your life and crusty greedy property owners who hike up prices for no reason! rooms sit empty due to rates so you know bankruptcy is nye. Employees have no idea whats going on and laugh when you mention that laws are being broken.Save your money and go to any of the other competitors! Check FB groups literally anything is better than this. Days without hot water, broken sinks, broken entry doors that don't lock, theft and in building crime and trust me they will not do anything about it. Broken wood floors will give you splinters and the mild will make you sick!!!! sink over flowed AND the roof leaked, BOTH MULTIPLE TIMES, and FECES were all over the kitchen and they refused to send someone to property sanitize the BIOHAZARD and it for days without solution affecting the wood and entire apartments air quality. Working on a class action at the moment so feel free to reach out if you live at common and we can add you to the list!!!

Experiencia negativa: Update 4/17/24 It’s been more than 60 days since move out! They haven’t returned the deposit yet. Now let’s talk about legality, Common Coliving! The NYC law says the deposit must be returned within 14 days. Anyone else facing the same issue wants to join forces suing? Old review - Thiefs in suits! If you want to live here, be prepared to let go your entire deposit and get slammed with additional charges out of thin air. The best part, the entire business is illegal by the NYC law and yet they have audacity to steal from you. I mean yeah you can't expect the people running an illegal business to be upfront with your money lol. Their emails demanding the fraudulant charges will literally gave some people I know anxity attacks. Let's see how soon a class action law suite is opened!

Experiencia positiva: This is a high value for the cost apartment complex. Their units are usually located a short walking distance from major transit stations. The interiors are efficiently organized with storage due to the very small square footage. The components are mostly IKEA level quality. It works great for those comfortable with shared kitchen spaces. There are some frustration points with the cleanliness of other tenants and occasionally the washers and dryers are out of order causing difficulties with getting laundry done, especially if you want for the weekend. Sadly, they recently have revived some adventures like the nitro cold brew coffee and the monthly events for tenants that were a lot of fun to attend. You will have a good time here, if this aligns with your expectations.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience being assisted by Jessil. I had a tricky situation involving a security problem. It involved really trying to work with the IT people at Common as well. Overall, I was very happy with how everything turned out and recommend Common to others as well, because the organization does a great job listening to its residents and helping them sort through whatever they need! Experiencia negativa: I moved out last week. When I reached out to Common asking when to expect my deposit to be returned, they played dumb and pretended that I never paid a deposit. Mind you, my deposit was almost $2,000 so this wasn't a small amount of money. They have refused to acknowledge that I gave them deposit money and I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Experiencia negativa: I moved out from Alta since 8/21/2023, til now (11/27/2023) still not receive my security deposit back. Tried to contact their member support from 9/24/2023. They've asked about my account number twice but never process to send it back and neither a notice for what reason being hold. Totally make no sense it requires over 3 months to process it... am preparing to move it to a legal case

Experiencia negativa: Edit: After living here for two years it’s only gotten worse, the Assistant General Manager for Common, Latavia Gales is extremely rude and unprofessional. I was contacted by a different member regarding my lease renewal and she responded with “Lol, he has no reason to contact anyone here”, meanwhile Christian had literally contacted me earlier today. The communication between management is abysmal, they buy 20% of the building, take the studios, cut it in half and force you to pay 1700$ for it, and then on top of that they can’t even be bothered to pretend to have any customer service. BEWARE COMMON AND BEWARE ALTA LIC ESPECIALLY UNDER THE NEW DERMOT MANAGEMENT Absolutely abysmal service, Beware of Nicole Flynn specifically; she will arbitrarily cancel your appointments to look at apartments for no real apparent reason. This has left such an awful taste in my mouth and I had just gotten a lucrative high paying job in Manhattan and wanted a furnished apartment to live in. Please please consider looking elsewhere. I’ve tried reaching out to these people by phone, email, text and their site directly. Nothing.

Experiencia negativa: Common will ignore and minimize every complaint from small issues all the way up to emergencies. Here is the key to being treated like a human being and getting your voice heard: flood the system. I sent tens of emails daily through their support email line and left daily messages on their emergency call line. That is the only way they will listen to you. That said, they will still drag their feet and play games with you. But if you even want a shot in hell of Common addressing your concerns, be the loudest squeaky wheel possible and flood the system so they can’t ignore you anymore. Should be self-evident but you can avoid all this trouble by not renting with Common, which I would recommend.

Experiencia negativa: This is truly a nightmare. I booked a suite and I have signed a lease, and I was contacted the day before moving in, that Common made an error, as the unit I rented was not available. They urge me to look on other listings and although they stated that were available immediately, every time I chose an alternative rental, they would reply that it was not available. At the end of the day, few hours prior to my schedule move, they found a suite that was more expensive, but I could have it temporarily until a suite more suitable to my original request would become available on October 26. Nevertheless, today, they wrote that the possibility of transferring yo another unit is not guaranteed. Naturally, I have contacted my attorney. Given their inadequate response to my inquiry, it looks we are headed to court. Do yourself a favor, and don’t fall prey to the unethical practices of this company.

Experiencia negativa: I cannot believe how absolutely maddening this renewal process is. I am a student expected to graduate this May, and now Common and the renewal manager they have assigned to me is not letting me renew the lease I negotiated for and waited til the last minute to start this back and forth insanity--I feel like I am trapped because of all of this. I'd let the entirely screenshot conversation speak for itself (I am only not posting it because of privacy concerns), but I agreed to a 7% increase for 6 months. I explicitly said I wanted to renew for 6 months, and they countered my 5% with 7%. I agreed to that. Then, they waited for almost a month to send me the lease for me to see it was 12 months, not 6. The person they assigned to me insists their offer was only valid for 12 despite all of the screenshots and phone calls I have to the contrary--they were the same person who saw my original email saying 6 months! They never once said their offer was for 12 months when I agreed to it, and I have proof of that! Additionally, despite me negotiating in September, I had to be the one to email them again to make them finally start this process in October--less than a month before my lease expires and making it impossible to find somewhere else to go. I am stuck in this city until May and feel completely and utterly helpless because of Common and the person they assigned to me. Phone calls haven't helped either. Truly a miserable experience. Find a better living situation that is far more professional. I am incredibly unhappy living here in fear of not being given a basic 6 month less I asked for and was agreed with in time and becoming homeless.

Experiencia fantástica: I moved in today and found the door to my room was locked. I called for help and Lenie immediately provided a quick trick to get it open. She also helped me quickly set up my wifi and others stuff. The move-in process is all-by-yourself style with no on-site management. I was a bit concerned about it. However, Lenie's help has made my move-in process such a smooth and simple experience.

Experiencia negativa: Terrible company with terrible customer service. Be wary of leasing with them because they will not keep their promises and then string you along until you give in. I’ve only been living here 2 months and I’m already looking forward to moving out in 10 months. They never clean the suite or deliver home goods as promised. Terrible experience. Edit 9/18 I was very disappointed to read the milquetoast response Common offered here in response to my trials and tribulations. My issue is not yet resolved and they know it. I will be going to their Manhattan office today (335 Madison Ave, Suite 6A) to advocate for the customer support I was denied through all other channels. I hate to say this but unless you kick and scream and “give ‘em hell!” (as one saintly Common support person told me last night) Common will ignore all of your inquiries and rarely follows through on what they promise. I’ll update this again later tonight after I go to the office. Someone is also supposed to call me tonight. Will they? I doubt it. I cancelled plans last night because I was promised a call between 6:30-7:30. No one called… Common is a delinquent and untrustworthy organization.

Experiencia positiva: Apartment building and amenities were very nice but all communication with Common was awful. I was promised a studio apartment that would be fully furnished with kitchen supplies. I arrived and the kitchen was completely empty. My parking spot application was filled out incorrectly by management so on move in day I had no idea what spot I was allowed to park in. I submitted a maintenance request and did not receive a phone call from maintenance until a few weeks later. Every single interaction I had with the common team was negative and I would never lease a property from them short term again.

Experiencia negativa: Membership Services is Slow to respond to email requests. I have to send numerous emails for statuses over the year since I've lived here. I have many requests that have gotten resolved, but only with extreme effort on my part. Now, another outstanding issue that I've been given the run around regarding the Latch APP at Fountains in Los Angeles. I'm completely being ignored intentionally; in regards to my safety and security. The biggest problem at the Fountains is the Property Service Team, cleaning, security etc. I have to BEG and plead to get resolution. I do have a record of hundreds of emails during my stay at this facility. Pick any one. But the latest request regarding the software on the privacy and security App for Latch is pending. Your property services manager Michael approach me and said my request regarding this issue isn't important, and that anytime he get the ticket because they all come to him, nothing would get done. So I've been emailing now with Kaitlin and waiting on some kind of response regarding this issue. It's now been a week, since she last reached out. But, the original requests is over 3 weeks old. Latch told me over 3 weeks ago that it's the responsibility of Common to correct this issue and noted in the email wait needs to happen. But, I guess your property manager Michael is just sitting on it because it's not important to him. If you really want to fix simple requests the bottleneck lies with your property services team. I won't write here what some of the bigger issues there are, but would like for a Senior Manager to contact me regarding my experience. I deserve it. I've signed a second lease for a year. I know exactly what is going on here. It's an easy fix.

Experiencia negativa: The customer service with this company is HORRIBLE. The leasing agent, Chandice,(whom I didn’t request) will disappear and turn off her phone if she does not want to assist you. My move in process has been horrible. I’ve only been here 3 days. I moved in days late, causing me to have to spend on hotel stays because Chandice stopped contacting me after I sent application fee. This caused me to have to go downtown NY to their main office to get my issue resolved. After finally moving in, I realized I was in the wrong apartment and informed Chandice. Two days after moving in, the app that unlocks the doors changed my apartment from the wrong one to the one I was supposed to receive originally. I was not informed of this change and arrived home after a LONG day at work to find out I can’t get into the apartment that has my belongings. I contacted Chandice to see what was going on and her response was “oh yea we changed it because it was my mistake and you have to move to the other apartment”. I told her no, not today because I was not prepared to move AGAIN especially for a mistake that wasn’t mine and agreed to move another day. She then offered for me to just reside in the apartment I’m in since it was their mistake. I agreed. 4hrs later my key STILL hasn’t been corrected, so I am unable to leave the apartment to run errands because I will not be able to get back in when I return! When I called Chandice to check the status of this matter, she completely ignored me and waited until 7p (the time she is off) to turn off her phone. This is after 3hrs of waiting for the key to be switched back. My issue was NEVER resolved! Common living just wants to disappear after taking your money. Yes, the apartments are “nice”, but i would’ve rather stayed in an Airbnb at this point for my short time here in NY instead of dealing with this headache that I am paying for. My suggestion is find another leasing company to work with because this one is completely unprofessional.

Experiencia positiva: I'm currently living at The Reserve, a new building that has everything. Elevator, concierge, coworker room, wellness room, fitness room, rooftop. It's great! And the Common team is very supportive and helpful, any issue or doubt they solved quickly. I'm enjoying my stay.

Experiencia fantástica: Although the customer service communication methods can benefit from a few updates, Common definitely cares about tenants and goes the extra mile to resolve issues. Upon first moving into an apartment, I had a problem with a former roommate and needed an urgent transfer. Common made me feel completely supported every step of the way. Throughout the transfer process, I regularly called the support team for updates and next steps, and not only did they send me follow-up emails with summary notes about each call, but they also coordinated amongst themselves to provide me with new housing options with immediate move-in dates that fit my budget. One support specialist in particular, Blake, was especially helpful as he answered my calls immediately, stayed on the phone with me for long periods of time to get all information at once, and personally emailed me every day to ensure that my case was progressing. All in all, highly recommend Common as a landlord, especially for people moving to the big city for the first time.

Experiencia fantástica: This is the second time we have worked with Common. Each time they found our daughter a wonderful and safe apartment to live in. Our daughter had an internship in the DC area. The app common uses is easy to navigate, you can pay your rent through the app, and they are fast to respond to emails. Before they lease the apartments you have to send in all your info. It can take time, but it's good to know they treat everyone the same and the interns living through common are young working people. You have to make a three month commitment, but that's as long as the internships usually last. We highly recommend common, but start looking for places as soon as you know where you'll be living as the apartments rent out pretty fast.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been here for about 2.5 months now and it’s been great! I have 2 support dogs staying with me while my partner gets a lung transplant at NWM and mostly everyone is very accepting and kind to our animals. Everyone has been so great and supportive. Keegan, the support coordinator, seems like he works around the clock and is always so nice and helpful! And Michael, on the maintenance team, is always friendly and so quick to help!! So happy with our decision to stay here!

Experiencia negativa: A perfect way the describe the ethics of this organization. I lived in a “luxury apartment” with a severe on going rat problem. 3 months before my lease ends they share that they would be increasing rent $150 and getting rid of the weekly cleaning of shared spaces + delivery of cleaning supplies that was provided in my rent. Yet the apartment was still filled with rats. Why would I resign? Are they joking? Only worth it for short term stays ig. However it was not all terrible. My room was beautiful and was in a great location. Some apartments are cared for better than others is what I learned.

Experiencia negativa: See my original review below, updating this after 3 years. Common has tanked and I would no longer recommend it. Such a shame, I reallly loved the concept - they don't vet people, the simplest thing you could do. not a community or community oriented, just revenue extracting landlords by a different name - part of the appeal was being able to transfer from one location to another, you could be nomadic and it seemed like a great concept to support that. It isn't, the the transfer process is such a damn headache, their internal processes as a business are brutally inefficient since they had a big round of layoffs and moved their support team abroad - the all-inclusivity of pricing has been severely deprecated. cleaning went from weekly to monthly, shared supplies went from being included to not, zero heads up and no adjustment on monthly price — huge red flag This is a company on it's way out. founder is no longer in seat, glass cliff for the next ceo. what a shame! original review below ~~~~~~~~~~~ Common Kingston was my home for a year and it was wonderful, having moved to NYC with pretty sparse belongings I loved being able to have a place totally set up. the space is beautiful, appliances are fantastic and everything you could think of is included. Everyone on their support team was super friendly and responsive whenever there was an issue; truly the future of renting in my opinion I had a great experience from when I reached out through to when I moved out

Experiencia negativa: Great apartment, great member support, great all the way. Also, but if you are in a situation it will be a nightmare to communicate with Common Living. They literally don't have a single phone number to contact and the only way is to communicate via email. It can take days sometimes to communicate. There is no way to contact the management team, the leasing team, etc. It is probably the worst thing I have ever seen with any realtor. You only talk to a person virtually when finalising the lease and then there is no one you can talk to from the management. It has been a nightmare for me. So just a heads up.

Experiencia negativa: My fire alarm has been going off from last night and they won't be fixing it till monday. So two days from now. This is the second time this has happened where I cannot sleep in my own apartment. The previous time was because they turned off the heater late in December. This is a terrible company and please try to find a different company to work with. NOTE: The artificially inflate their ratings by asking people to review the tour - and not the stay in the apartment EDIT - This was resolved pretty quickly and changing the review! Thank you @Anthony EDIT - The same issue started happening a month later - This is a terribly managed property. EDIT - If you call them for emergency support - they outsource it to a different company and the support has no clue whats happening and you end being running in circles.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a wonderful move-in experience to my new apartment and David Namery, the building manager from Common, was incredibly helpful during this whole process! Not only was he there to open the door with my when trouble with the door code and keys became an issue, but he also helped me move some boxes up to my new apartment. All of my questions were answered, the Wi-Fi was set up, and I had a smooth and easy move-in! 5 out of 5 stars!

Experiencia negativa: Common use to be 10/10 very attentive, anything we needed was provided to us within the span of one to two days. We had a House Leader who would give us updates on stuff that’s happening within the building. So I moved to the Robinson location in Harlem because I liked common so much, they are HORRIBLE! things that were promised to us per our lease are not promise. We are constantly out of hot water, within the span from May to June We have been out of hot water approximately five times. The property service management comes out whenever he pleases there’s no sense of urgency. We are constantly out of supplies such as tissue, paper towels, laundry detergent we are having to COME OUT OF POCKET for supplies that’s are promised to us per our lease. When they say we’re going to get supplies, they’re always late! There’s never enough supplies, there is five people in my building two of the people aren’t even here as often and we are always out of supplies. I pay close to 2,000 dollars in rent and my lease isn’t even abided by. My rent is always paid on time yet they aren’t doing there side of what was promised.FIX THIS

Experiencia fantástica: I was looking to move somewhere that when I got home I would feel comfortable almost as if I were on vacation. I kept looking for that perfect apartment and with all the scams I was running into, never thought I would find it. I finally came across Common Co-living at The Agnes in Jersey City NJ. I’ve never been to Jersey City in my life. I didn’t know what to expect. I remember looking at the pictures of the apartment online and thought this looks really nice, it’s probably too good to be true. However, I was given a tour by the gentleman by the name of Maxsis and he showed me that it was all that I could dream of plus more! When you walk into the lobby it seems as if you are in a resort hotel of some sort. It has seating areas and lounges everywhere! There is spaces to get work done in private if working from home is your thing. Then they have cozy places to relax and socialize with friends. The Amenities at Agnes are off the chain. I canceled my gym membership because they have an awesome gym with all the equipment and machines you need. The pool! They have a pool with a courtyard to lay in the sun. A favorite spot of mine is the grill patio which has 4 huge stainless steel grills with counter space and outdoor sinks. A game room and TV room are accessible whenever needed. The staff is very friendly and seem to love their job. The apartments themselves are immaculate and impressive. Everything is brand new and well taken care of. They offer cleaning biweekly and supply essential toiletries! I also don’t want to leave out the Gourmet cafe they have through the lobby that is simply delicious to say the least. I love the fact that when I get home from work or actuality have a day off it feels like I really am on vacation.

Experiencia negativa: We were lied to our faces about the apartment. We paid $350 for an application then found out everything we were told was lies and the rent would increase over $2,000 for the year. I was verbally promised a refund due to their mistake and now claiming it was never said. Brandon constantly argued with me on the phone like a child, rather than having a respectful adult conversation. This is all a scam. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS MONEY HUNGRY HORRIBLE COMPANY.

I spoke with Jayne who was my saving Grace, because she was able to get me through to the technician and she checked up on me repeatedly and made me being locked out not so bad! Experiencia positiva: Toured Mily on green. The building is new and has good common spaces and multiple floorplan options but no gym. Shaquila, the leasing agent, was in touch ahead of my appointment. Patiently showed me around all the various options available in the building and worked with me on options available in my budget. Did not have some answers as she was new to the building but followed up with responses to all my questions. The website is unclear on units currently available and the exact prices. This should be improved

Experiencia negativa: I am not surprised that you “don’t have any record of me living on your property” because you guys are a very negligent management company. The beginning phase of staying in Common living WAS pleasant, yet there is No on site supervision (no landlord no superintendent ! They don’t even like to provide a name on the lease agreement! ) nor is there an emergency line for anything other than lockouts and fire emergencies. But let’s give you a rundown of some of the many basic problems 1- the walls and floors are extremely hollow. ( you can hear almost every footstep. I can even hear the conversations clearly from my neighbors next-door so there’s absolutely no privacy.) 2-There are not enough cameras to protect the tenants of the building and our property. ( I have had packages to paper mail stolen and let’s not forget the 65 inch TV that was stolen from our common area that was never replaced !) 3- the cleaning team is not efficient and they lack basic communication skills. We are not provided names of the cleaning personnel that enter our home, there have been times where we have random people in our home with the cleaning personnel, dress, and regular clothing( I have it on video) . 4- They offer moving options if you’re unhappy with the space that was chosen Yet, when I was harassed by another tenant, they refused to help me move to a safer location within my budget until they receive their back money from the tenant that was a danger to herself, as well as everyone else. 5- They do not properly document information when it comes to renters insurance and other important information . I also have proof of this. 6- the worst part of this is they respond quicker on google than in their customer support department to bad feedback. My advice is just don’t do it. For the prices they are charging for these tiny rooms you would be better off just getting a studio or one bedroom with a friend or loved one and split the bill because $1700 for a ROM. The size of a walk-in closet is extremely sad. Common management team Has to do better !!

Experiencia fantástica: Common is a great place to live in if you are moving out of town or state. Its a fresh start with separate independent rooms yet common area such as dining and living room shared spaces. You can meet new people hangout or stay private its up to you. I have meet some good people here! Most of them are furnished and utilities are included. Also comes with fully equipped kitchen appliances. Ready to move in today!

Experiencia fantástica: Had a great experience from start to finish from Patrick. He communicated with us promptly, listened to our needs, and then helped us all the way to signing and beyond. After signing, Patrick even took measurements of the apartment and sent them to us in order to aid in our planning. In regards to the apartment, the common rooms are cozy yet spacious and the rooftop provides an amazing view of the city!

Experiencia negativa: I booked a remote tour online and then called to confirm. Waited on hold for over 30 minutes, then was told that I was double booked for the tour and they were canceling one of the tours. I called the day before my tour to confirm. Waited twenty minutes and then the person accidentally hung up on me. Called again and waited for an hour (while working). The number of people ahead of me went up and down (first three, then two, then five(!)) but in that hour I never reached a person. Fifteen minutes before my tour today I got a text that my tour was canceled. Horrible customer service!!! If this is how they treat potential tenants, how do they treat people when they're already locked into a lease!

Experiencia negativa: Common Leasing is a horrible organization! They move tenants in and bombard them with committing to living in horrible living conditions and gaslighting their tenants as if the issues don’t exist. They move tenants into rat infested buildings and people from out of town are just stuck. They have contracts with certain buildings even though they are rat infested. The people here are hard to contact, communicate with and they will lie in which you must document EVERYTHING. I live in the Clifton D.C and upon move in I saw RATS in my building! Since they are in New York they could care less about to safety of their tenants. These are the solutions they provide knowing their behavior is unethical. Again, this their Washington D.C Building the Clifton! Inspect your apartment and talk to tenants before you live in to avoid lies and drama.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a quick job offer out of state and I needed a place to move into quickly. Common was the ideal choice for my needs. The process was simple, fast, and accurate with great communication from the leasing team! This experience took away a lot of moving stress for me. Upon move in there was one maintenance issue that was resolved in less than 24 hours! I made the right choice.

Experiencia fantástica: So right off the bat, I just moved into my home and when I say I AM HAPPY!!!! This place is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! And Ann was a great help over the phone in regards to helping me with the latch key system and making sure I get into my apartment without issue. I was a little skeptical at first doing a virtual visit, but this place is even more beautiful in person. It’s exactly as advertised and I just adore the turnout! Having my furniture delivered today! Experiencia negativa: It took 19 days to fix our hot water in the middle of winter. After having no effective constant communication with the property services team, I requested to speak to a manager since most representatives work remotely and aren’t fully aware of ongoing issues (which I do not at all fault them for, but it leads to a lot of confusion and lack of communication). I was only contacted by a manager once the issue was resolved despite asking over the phone to speak to a manager for over a week. Following this whole ordeal, I was then requested to leave a positive review of the assistance I received, which was inconsistent and usually unhelpful.

Kaye, a Member Support Specialist, handled signing up for parking and helped us find our mailbox key right away. That is wonderful that someone can help solve things as soon as possible. Experiencia negativa: WHATEVER YOU DO - DO NOT RENT WITH COMMON Common is simply the WORST. As an international student, I fell for their scam. I tried to terminate the lease, and called them for at least 5-7 times everyday and with no response. Finally after 20 days someone reached out and asked for an exorbitant termination fees which is unacceptable. I then requested for a lease transfer and they have not responded. Their customer service and management is the WORST POSSIBLE ONE on the universe. I have tried to get in touch with them for weeks now and with no avail. They never call you back or answer to your emails. They never let you speak with a supervisor or with anyone who can actually do anything - they just mention they will escalate the matter and they never do. So if you are thinking of leasing with them - run as fast as you can.

Experiencia fantástica: The best part about my moving in experience was Shaquilla! I was in a predicament and heard about Common being good with a quick turn around time from signing to move in from a friend that lived here. She was patient with my situation and so professional and friendly. She made me feel very confident that she would follow through and follow up on things I had questions on and delivered on her promises. It’s nice to see a friendly, familiar face on site and to feel great knowing that I’m in good hands. I honestly thought she ran the place at first because of how streamlined she was. As far as the building, there’s some kinks that they actively address when made aware, but no place is perfect. They maintain the shared spaces very well and the staff at the front desk and the facilities management team is super friendly. This location is perfect for my lifestyle and I thank Shaquilla for making it happen!

Experiencia negativa: I moved out of Common Marcy at the end of February 2022 and 4 months later haven't received my security deposit back. I sent them multiple forms of documentation including receipts and screenshots from my bank statements showing that I paid my security deposit (and a prepayment on my 1st month's rent) which they never applied to my account, but they continue to gaslight me. I never write reviews but given how much money they owe me here, felt the need to write this publically in the hope they address my situation and as a warning to others. EDIT - After writing this review, Common reached out to me and we were able to resolve this situation.

Experiencia fantástica: Common provides me with a comfortable space to live in with a great deal of flexibility. My favorite things about this place are the communal energy and how efficient everything is. A highlight for me has been the responsiveness and assistance provided by the Member Support team. Experiencia fantástica: Love living here. Great community. Responsive maintenance and management is generally kind and empathetic. My only complaint would be getting on site management via phone, but common has a back up line that ensures that our needs are taken care of which is a good substitute. Experiencia negativa: Common is the WORST. I've been living with Common for a little under two years now and I truly regret ever signing the lease in the first place. The rooms are cramped and overpriced, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. From faulty electronic lock systems, in which Common charges a hefty $75 lockout fee, to maintenance issues being ignored, such as leaky pipes going unfixed, mold being painted over, washing machines being broken for weeks at a time, Common truly fails at their promise of luxurious coliving. Dirty, stained, and broken furniture, in which Common promises to replace but ever actually does, are a staple of each apartment, bedrooms are never cleaned between old tenants moving out and new tenants moving in, there are several missing items and furniture that are supposed to be "included" that, again, Common promises to replace, but never actually does, and so much more. One of the worst things about Common is that no matter how important the issue is (like when I filed a police report after a robbery occurred in our building but was unable to obtain the surveillance footage OR the time Common sold the building I had been living in and illegally evicted me, as well as every other tenant in that building), there is absolutely no way of getting into contact with anyone that has answers or authority to help you with your concern. I have lost all faith that Common cares about their tenants. I cannot wait to move out.

Experiencia negativa: I would not recommend using their services at all! First of all, I pay 2300$ for a small unfurnished room and shared bathroom, which is quiet frankly unacceptable for this price. Besides, the customer service is terrible, we have some technical issues at home with the dryer since a month and they haven't still sent someone to fix it! I also had issues with one of my flatemate because he is very dirty and noisy and they refuse to terminate the contract unless I pay 3 month of lease! Don't waste your time with them and choose another company.

Experiencia negativa: My mental health drastically improved after I left common. The company is so hard to get in touch with once you move in. The transfer to other common properties bit is a lie. The subleasing part of your lease is a lie. By the time I left common Monroe that had gone from a cleaning team to one single man doing an entire building. Our packages were constantly stolen. There were two squatters in the building. My floor was so dirty my socks turned jet black. Don’t do common find a group house in DC on Facebook. They have more background checks for people living there.

Experiencia fantástica: I had seen place after place for months on the westside in search for the right one with all the right vibes, amenities, features, price point, and none were meeting the mark and I was starting to lose hope until I came across Common Centinela! I am so glad I decided to go through with the in person tour because Cedric Gordon was an absolute breath of fresh air. He was warm, patient, kind, and thorough. He went above and beyond to ensure the room and unit I was looking for had everything I wanted and needed. Experiencia negativa: Proceed with caution with Common. While they do a great job of supplying everything they say they will supply (wifi, in unit laundry, toiletries, etc.) there’s a lot they DO NOT do. First, upon arriving in my room in March, the room was quite disgusting. Hairs of the previous tenant, a giant stain on the mattress cover, and dusty, dirty floors. Absolutely disgusting seeing someone else’s DNA in NYC during a pandemic. It’s obvious they didn’t even attempt to clean it. I asked them to fix it and they gave me a $25 visa gift card. Then I go to use my key fob. That isn’t working, so luckily we had the phone app but that took another week to get working. Then towards the end I had asked them if I could forgo the first 8 Days of September and end my lease in August. While they reiterated my lease would still end at the original date, they said it was fine for me to leave early with my payments ending in August so I was under the impression I would not have to pay extra. On that same day, they gave me a cleaning fee, a fee which I pay to get my room cleaned for the next tenant. THE IRONY. I reluctantly agreed to pay this since I was happy they let me off with the first 8 days in September. Fast forward to now, they hit me with the charges for September and the cleaning fee. After trying to contact them for two days and begging to speak to someone, they didn’t answer until late in the second day. Never answered my complaints and only answered the questions that supported themselves. Moral of the story is they are terrible at communication and do not care about their tenants. They avoid phone calls at all costs and keep their emails short and have no empathy for your needs as their tenant. I still have request tickets unanswered. Why should I pay a cleaning fee when my room was filthy? However, I left the room spotless out of principle because I want the next person to enjoy their move in. A horrible, horrible company. Only do short term with them before finding an actual place that will treat you like a person. When you sign that lease they just want your money. This is for NYC so not sure how other cities do, but proceed with caution in NYC. Still hoping to be reimbursed for my room being filthy but they’ll definitely just ignore me until my lease runs out.

Experiencia positiva: My virtual tour was done by Paola Ramirez. She was great but, you know, I already did the virtual tour on the website by myself, and I don’t know why I was expecting more from the tour she was going to give me but I really was if I’m being honest. I really thought she was going to be physically showing me the place since the virtual tour aspect is already available on the website. In the past I had have experiences where you see something different on the Internet than when you see it in person, so I really thought she would ease my mind about my move across continents but it is what it is and the reason I’ll give a 4 star review. She answered all the questions I had straight to the point. It’s really a beautiful place as shown on the website. Amenities are great and ultimately take the huge stress out of moving because it’s fully furnished in all aspects. I guess the virtual appointment was mainly to talk about pricing and fees. I believe this is a really nice place. But I’ll give an even better review when I’m there in person.

Like others have mentioned there have been a few maintenance issues in the building, but overall I really enjoy living here. Experiencia positiva: I didn’t give them a one star like everyone because I think there are a handful of employees in their headquarters in New York that genuinely tried to help. Management is horrible because it doesn’t exist. Everyone who had posted are accurate: parking drama, cleaning is a joke, response team (some of them) isn’t able to give the details or explain why things aren’t going smoothly for new tenants or current tenants. Overall their advertisement for this particular Common (Common Paramount) is inaccurate. People who are seriously considering moving in to the Common Paramount should talk to the current tenants and read the reviews before signing the lease. I’ve made this mistake and regret it deeply. Update from first post. Today: July 16, 2022 I've changed my rating from a two stars to a four stars and here's why: I've lived at Common for six months and can see that their service has improved. I've realized that they maybe taking their tenants more seriously and actually listen and act on the issues. I think the problematic folks who they allowed to move in are mostly gone. Most of the issues are caused by the tenants, the irresponsible ones. These issues will continue because Common business model is to attract the young adults who do not yet know how to clean after themselves, respect privacy, and be considerate about noise levels or the daily smell of someone smoking Marijuana in the building. Common is essential a college dormitory environment. On the positive side, if the above is considered horrendous for you, Common provide unlimited toilet paper and paper towels supplies (not great quality but free of charge). On top of that water, electricity, wifi, AC/Heat, Kitchen appliance and cookware, Smart TV, dining and living essentials, and trash/recycling bins, and bi-weekly cleaning in the common-shared areas are provided. Each person in the apartment have their own bathrooms. Although the rent price is bit on the expensive side, but everything you need to live comfortably are included. If you choose to sign the lease with Common, I wish you the best and that your roommates are respectful people. As long as you've done your research ahead of time, Common will assist as best as possible. Remember: if you have a car, make sure to check with Common whether there is a parking space for you before you sign the lease. There are too many people who were not communicated with about parking. I blame the tour guide for not disclosing that information -- they are young people like you and I and they don't think ahead. So make sure you ASK before SIGNING. Good luck!

Experiencia negativa: The weekly cleaning is great and the space is beautiful. Would not recommend Common to survivors of SA. There is no way for you to request that you do not receive male roommates in your unit, for example. I did not encounter any horror stories during my time with Common (one year), but did attempt to request that new roommates not be male, and was denied. Building security at Common Robinson is dismal and the company will do nothing to improve it. I had a package and a hand truck stolen out of the lobby while I lived there. Began sending my packages to a friend's apartment during my lease. Often the front and inner doors would not fully close or lock. Reported issues to Common customer service and they handled it in their customary way - by sending a building wide email and then doing absolutely nothing. The building renovation at Common Robinson is superficially very beautiful, but has removed all of the sound dampening insulation. I could hear my upstairs neighbor's business calls, which he took from 7:30 in the morning until after 10 at night. Could also hear the activity in my roommate's rooms, and could relate the plot of a movie being watched in the living room unless it was played at incredibly low volume. Emailed customer service to ask about quiet hours and guess what? A building wide email! Don't live here if you would like occasional quiet where you live and sleep. Did not receive a mail key when I moved in, foolishly neglected to take a photo. I was charged for this when I moved out - I let them know that I never received the key, but at this point it was too late. This is on me. However, the charge was immediately forwarded to collections three days after the initial notification. I now have to mail the payment, even though I assume Common still has my payment information on file. Y'all. When I moved in, I considered the rent reasonable considering the weekly cleaning, the paper goods, and the included utilities and internet. However, by the end of my lease, the rent felt exorbitant due to lack of privacy, hot water that frequently stopped working for days at a time, and endlessly frustrating and fruitless interactions with Common customer service. Common might be good for you if you need an address sight unseen for visa reasons, or if you want to know where you're landing for your first three months in a new city. Otherwise, go literally anywhere else.

Experiencia negativa: I rented and (paid 3 months of rent to Common) for one of Common's buildings in San Francisco (Common City Garden). However, they sold the building without any communications or refund. One week before my move-in date, I emailed them asking for move-in instructions, only to be told that they are unable to provide any information on my current situation. They were not able to guarantee that I will have a place to move into or that I would be provided a refund. After getting in touch with the new owners, they told me that Common still has my information and are waiting for Common to give it to them. As of now, I have nowhere to move into and I'm out almost $4000. As of now, nobody has reached out.

Cedric Gordon could not have done a better job at helping me find the perfect room at the best price. He was always available to answer questions by email, call, or text whenever I needed him. Experiencia fantástica: The tour was nice with a great guide and a comfortable viewing of the place (even allowing me to find a parking spot). Unfortunately, the place was not for me. I'd be willing to pay more for less as long as I had my own bathroom and kitchen (which the unit didn't have). In the end, I'm honestly looking for a real estate group that can continue searching for a place. Every group I've been in touch with has immediately dropped me as a client the moment I failed to show interest in THAT apartment (or if they find a buyer in the process) despite expressing interest in purchasing an apartment. It's been an exhausting experience, one that leaves a bitter taste for me about those that control the units.

Experiencia positiva: I’ve lived at The Wayland in St. Pete for the last two years. Overall it’s been a positive experience. It’s an older building and has some issues; could still use some thorough cleaning, window washing (hasn’t been done since I’ve lived here and are inaccessible to residents), and a healthy dose of interior paint throughout the building. But this new management company does seem to be genuinely improving the property. Nicole and Grace in the office are both great, and definitely bring a positive energy to any issues that arise. The events that they organize bring a little more life to the community, and I hope Common continues to manage the property and make improvements into the future.

Experiencia negativa: I have been with common for 3 months and it was good AT THE BEGINNING. About a month and a half ago a leasing agent brought someone into our unit with no warning. 3 weeks ago another leasing agent brought someone to our unit with no warning; she re-entered the same day with no warning. Upon her 2nd entry she saw me naked. I have tried every day since ti get out of my lease but have not received a single phone call. Today I received and email saying I would hav ego pay $5,900 to get out of my lease. Although Common violated the lease, I am obligated to pay. A literal scam. Also, the Roomate situation is outrageous. Would not recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: Contacted Common support twice about my bathroom door being locked from the inside.. The first time, They created a ticket. After waiting a few hours, I followed up with them and the team member Kaye helped tremendously. She made sure to call me back through the process and letting me know that she was with me to get to the bottom of the issue. I also notified her about my key card issues and she fixed the problem while on the phone and made sure to be thorough on if it worked on my door and front gate. The maintenance guy came and opened the door. Everything is perfect now. I greatly appreciate the help and getting both items fixed in a timely manner. Thank you Kaye

Experiencia positiva: **update** I waited several weeks to give an update because I wanted to see how things would play out at my new location. I really wanted to give 4 stars, especially after my conversation with Jena, a Member Support Manager . I appreciate the way the situation was handled, not because I got what I wanted but because she showed a genuine interest in helping me unlike the the leasing agent who dismissed my concerns. As someone who travels a lot, I do love the concept of common living, however there is a lot that they need to improve on, mainly communication at the company level. There are way too many people that you need to deal with to get things done which gives room for errors and I should not have had to post a review to get in contact with someone from the management team. The good news is they do have community managers at several locations and any issues I've had on property have been handled within 24 hours. I would also rate the facilities 5 stars, both locations I've been at have been top tier. **** They (Michael Canfarotta) misinformed me about the amenities of the property prior to signing my lease then decided to charge me a $300 fee to transfer to a property that could meet my needs. Talk about horrible customer service. It's also very difficult to speak with anyone and they reply to emails it seems like once per day. The property (The Agnes Jersey City) itself is wonderful including the front desk staff and community manger, all very friendly and helpful, however I would recommend speaking with property management directly before signing your lease.

Experiencia negativa: Unacceptable. I arrived to a room on my move in date. There was no mattress. I called the help line (which is the only opportunity you'll have to speak to a real human, no one will ever call you from a "contact form" that you file) and they said they would take care of it ASAP. There was no mattress my first night, my roommates were kind enough to let me sleep on the couch in the common area. I call again the next morning. No mattress until MONDAY. TWO DAYS AFTER I MOVE IN. Honestly this place is a horror show. My roommates all have their own awful story with Common. Idk how they have so many positive reviews they MUST be fake. These places are poorly run and managed, they can't even get a mattress in the right room at the right time. Guess I'll be making the best with the couch again tonight.

Experiencia positiva: I had 2 weeks to find and secure a place in LA. They work very fast and are very helpful with any questions you have. There was one lady who could improve her customer service, but most everyone there is very polite and helpful. If this is your first time being on your own or you want the most for money, I definitely suggest going with common. When I move back home I'll likely be moving into another common location.

Experiencia fantástica: Earlier this month I toured several Common properties within Los Angeles. Most of the the tours were standard; however, one tour truly stood out from the rest. I was fortunate to book a tour with Kelly Alvarado at the Centinela Property. When I met her outside the apartment complex, she was punctual, upbeat, and very knowledgeable of the neighborhood. At the end of the tour I had more questions, which in turn lead to more questions (yea, I'm that guy). Kelly was reassuring of the co-living process and was determined to answer every single one of my questions. She even helped me schedule a few more tours for other locations later in the week to make sure I found the right neighborhood in LA for me. Due to my work schedule, my moving date changed. However, Kelly made a huge impression, and I look forward to reaching out and moving into a property later in the year.

Experiencia fantástica: Melissa is a leasing agent and she’s fantastic. I was moving from Texas to Philly for a job promotion and needed an apartment quickly. She was friendly and took a lot of the stress of apartment hunting out of the process. She told me honestly about the space and answered all of the questions I had. She suggested a guarantor after hearing about my situation and let me know how to get one. Well, turns out I didn’t need one and that my application was approved. Took less than 24 hours after I toured virtually with her to get a lease. Thank you so much for being great Melissa!!

Experiencia fantástica: Kelly Alavardo was our initial point of contact and she couldn’t have been more helpful. We found that the whole process went smoothly because of Kelly’s excellent communication with us. She responded to all our emails and texts messages straight away and was able to answer all our questions. We weren’t familiar with the Common Living concept and Kelly was brilliant and explaining all the details for us in a professional and knowledgeable way. She even met a friend of ours who lived locally to do an in-person viewing which reassured us that the virtual tour matched the actual building and the area in Los Angeles that we wanted. We are very appreciative to Kelly and my son is looking forward to moving into his great new apartment.

Experiencia fantástica: I recently worked with Samantha to assist with my lease takeover due to an earlier than expected move out date. She was so helpful throughout the process and tentative to all of my questions and concerns. Experiencia fantástica: Jessil was so helpful and acted very fast to help me get off the roof. I was able to have the super save me in 30 min. I have never had better service with common then that phone call. She called me multiple times to check with different solutions and once when I got into the building.

Experiencia positiva: I recently set up a tour for one of the Co-living spaces at Havemeyer and thought the process was well managed! I met Leah Hight from the company there and she was really informative and helpful - and spent more than the allocated appointment time with me to answer my questions and show me around! Once she also had an idea of my budget and what I was looking for, she even made the time on the same day to show me a different building nearby so that I could get a sense of what my options were. Afterwards she was really responsive on email - sending me room layouts and room options as well as setting up an additional time for me to go and view rooms which was really helpful. Whilst I didn't go ahead with one of the co-living rooms in the end, Leah genuinely made the process really stress-free and easy to see what the options were as well as being available to help and provide me with all the information I needed so thank you!

Experiencia positiva: I'm staying at union market temporarily before returning to work. The staff is pretty accommodating. I've asked them for assistance several time and they've come through well. Danielle was my representative with my online portal and she was very timely with responding. It's a nice building with plenty of amenities. Several common areas to do work, a common kitchen, & plentiful outside areas. The rooms are spacious and accommodating. Large closet space, bathroom, and kitchen area. Consumables and washer/dryer are provided, which is a nice touch. There is no window in the kitchen for my unit, so it can get a little enclosed after a while. The age group of most tenants is early twenties. It's not the best place for remote workers. The tenants and employees talk loudly in the common areas and they don't seem to prioritize a quiet working environment.

Experiencia negativa: This company simply does not communicate they love to ghost you and never solve your problem I've had a problem for a month now because of a screw up they made I paid the first months rent yet for some reason they charged me again for my first months rent. Basically they want me to pay 3 months rent for 2 and again the worst part is that you can talk to no body no body answers and no body helps you solve your problem simply nothing. my 6 years old son knows how to communicate better.

Experiencia negativa: I'm sorry for trashing this company online but I cannot express enough how disappointed I've been with their services. - The communication with property management has been a complete nightmare. If you have a question, you will never be able to ask someone on the phone. You will eventually get an email full of typos from someone you've never spoken with before. - The HEAT DID NOT WORK IN MY BEDROOM IN DECEMBER, and I heard from another tenant that they had received a space heater from Common so I requested one, only to be told that there was nothing that could be done about this. Completely unforgivable, I'm sorry. - You are nothing more than a money-maker for Common. There are mysterious, nonsensical charges on your account every month. I have had to inquire about "flex fees" of $150 monthly and "cleaning fees" after no cleaning occurred of $100. And nobody will ever give you a phone number with someone to call.

Experiencia fantástica: This is a great upscale building that is always a pleasure to.come home to. I love my 11' vaulted ceilings and the whole vibe here, classy and quiet. My move in was easy, Sherley in the office was extra accommodating and helpful. I still have questions for her now and then , it's great to have a friendly go to person in the office. If she isn't available right when I call or text, she gets back to me no later than 5 minutes afterwards. I love the architecture of this building. Most.of the people seem friendly. So far , so good !

Experiencia negativa: I repeatedly ask them to fix our heater and they never do. I put a thermometer in the living room and it was 55 degrees. That is illegal. There have been times when the temperature is in the 40s. They have also overcharged me when I first moved. It was a pain to get my money credited it back. The windows were not installed correctly, they were actually backwards and it took them months before they finally addressed the issue. We also have roaches and it took them months before anyone came by to spray for roaches. The loose front door allows cigarette smoke from the neighbors to enter our ENTIRE apartment. This has by far been the worst apartment building I have ever dealt with.

Experiencia negativa: Honestly Common is one of the worst companies ever. For the first few months, they will be responsive and after a while they completely forget about you. At the moment I’ve been trying to get into contact with their leasing team but all they do is gaslight me. Horrible service, and honestly just avoid them altogether. They prey on young professionals and students. Wouldn’t recommend them whatsoever. I might actually make a TikTok video recounting my experience with their neglectful behavior. Not to mention that they left my building halfway through our lease, and left us in the abyss.
