Fantastic experience: Been here since October of 2022 and I love the spaciousness of the apartment. The maintenance personnel are respectful, friendly, courteous and always helpful. The rental personnel are always willing to listen and understand what issues that need to be addressed and they handle it promptly. The apartment complex is convenient to the bus line, the cleaning personnel ensure that the apartment buildings are clean including the laundry room and a friendly and helpful. Transitioning from a house to an apartment wasn't easy for me but I am thankful that I am here and I always grateful for what I was blessed with.

Positive experience: They came out quickly but couldn't find the noise. problem. Honestly I couldn't hear it at that time either. Maybe the first guy moved something that made a difference. All I know is that it's back
Fantastic experience: They are effective with snow clearing, apartment updates (solicitors on site, utility company repairs, etc.) and efficient with maintenance requests. Highly satisfied with the complex as a whole.
Fantastic experience: Excellent affordable 1-bedroom apartments at 323 S Home Ave. Maintenance is extremely fast, efficient, and professional. Also, the app makes paying rent, issuing maintenance requests, and reviewing lease very straightforward. Rent application, lease signing, and move in are also made hassle-free. Apartments are kept clean and welcoming even in older apartment buildings. Building staff are very respectful of privacy and make advance announcements of any inspections/maintenance requiring apartment access. No complaints at all.
Fantastic experience: Very simple apartment to live in. The bare necessities are here for my needs and I don't need a whole lot. Everything works and there are no issues with my room. Every tenant I've come across has been very very kind.

Negative experience: Ok company as long as my boyfriend deals with them. The male staff members don't respect or listen to women at all. All the women I've dealt with have been helpful. Don't deal with them unless you're a man or like being ignored, belittled, and talked down to.

Negative experience: Dishonest realtors that don't care about their residents (not new, about 10 years). Not disability friendly and will ignore any concerns about neighbors impacting one's living. Poor communication and since COVID no one works in office and are all remote so can't easily reach anyone if you need it. At once point they changed my basement door lock and didnt even give me a key! They had to redo it in order to have one they were able to get keys to open! They were cited by the police for letting my front door wait to be fixed when it couldn't open and due to a medical emergency had to bust it down. (I'm expecting when I move out they'll try to make me pay for the damage as they just put the door busted back up instead of a new one.) Another they replaced the sink head that broke due to its being so old, and left it with a broken drain. When the shovel the stairs, they throw it onto my already shoveled driveway. Would suggest trying a different company.

Fantastic experience: I have been renting with Steiner for over a year now and I have had the best experience. The folks who work at the office and the maintenance crew are the sweetest and the most professional. They are always ready to help you out, and very quick to address all your queries. I would recommend everyone to rent with steiner for a hassle free experience!
Negative experience: Pretty shady business practices. Intentionally dragged their feet on a lease signing and muddied up the process so someone else (building owner's son) could swipe the unit, despite being in the process of editing the lease for signature for a unit I already lived in. Guess I have to move out now! Extremely poor communication, poor attention to detail, and will happily screw you over.

If he asks us to send lease renewals, we do so happily. If he asks us to revoke them, we must do so begrudgingly. I let him know I did not appreciate the position he put us in, nor do I think it is fair to treat you this way. I nevertheless am legally obligated to do as he asks. Our office had no idea that he wanted us to revoke the renewal offer until you called our office and told us the listing agent told you the same. We did not intentionally hold any renewal offers. We received a request to remove Rose from the lease on 3/26 and sent the tenant removal addendum that same day. On 3/27 you notified us that the listing agent told you your lease would not be extended. As soon as I was made aware of this, I reached out to the owner and he told me the same. At that point I had no choice but to revoke the renewal offer.
I have nothing more to say other than I’m sorry. I hope you see that the owner of the property is the one that created this situation and we are in the unfortunate position of having to be the deliverer of a message we do not agree with. If I could renew your lease without legal liability, I would have.

Negative experience: Does "minimal" maintenance and repairs. Not very well maintained.
Negative experience: I am disgusted by Steiner Realty for the treatment of my friend who has been renting an apartment with them. She gave advanced notice she would like to renew her lease and they took their time through the signing process and did not even have the decency to tell her themselves, and ultimately she found out from a relator that the new buyer of the building’s son wants to live in her specific unit. She has been a great and loyal tenant to them but they clearly aren’t interested in good tenants. Now she has only a very short amount of time to find a new apartment.. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed as to how I was treated as a loyal 3-year tenant. It’s actually appalling and just above the legal bare minimum what Steiner just did to me. Complete negligence and lack of communication to tenants regarding their stability and what seems like intentional deceit to make a sale. Revoking a lease offer (in the processing of resigning) after being told multiple times that their leases would be honored. Steiner revoked my lease renewal offer last minute (in the process of signing) because a new buyer of the buildings son wants to live in the unit that I currently live in. They were intentionally slow on the lease renewal process and I had to find this out through a real estate agent who informed me “oh no the buyer is under contract and plans to occupy the unit as soon as possible.” Basically I told them I had planned to renew well in advance and they intentionally were slow so that I wouldn’t have the legal protection of the lease because the sale was contingent on the buyer being able to use the unit I live in. The other two units have the protection of a signed lease. The unit (5926 Elwood St) was listed as “FULLY RENTED” online.

Positive experience: the area is good, the building is good, the apartments are good for such a price. But! my apartment is on the first floor and the windows overlook the back entrance/exit. And every morning in the warm season, the landlord's employees come, park their cars under the windows and start talking loudly, very loudly and laughing. And the specifics of my work are such that I work until late at night and in the morning I want to sleep. This is very annoying and I will look for other apartments. I really hope that in the same house, but on the other side of the building there will be an option for us. 323 S. Home Ave, Avalon PA

Positive experience: I really like Steiner, they are quick to respond and the portal they use for maintenance and rent is easy to use. Overall Steiner team gets a 5/5. The only reason I put 4 stars is due to the fact that my apartment has an older AC system (central air) and it gets hot in my apartment over the summer days and there isn’t really a way I can make it cool down. However in emergency situations like when the AC went out during one evening of the heat wave last summer Steiner got it back up in running the next morning.

Fantastic experience: I am very happy with Steiner Realty. Anytime we have a problem either maintenance or otherwise they are very quick to answer. A little bit ago we had no hot water and within a couple hours they had it fixed! And they personally came to each apartment in our complex to make sure it was fixed! Another great thing is they will email and/or text you with updates or issues within the building to make sure we are all aware and educated on things going on. They are a great reality company and I would recommend renting any property owned my Steiner Realty!

Fantastic experience: Kindly note a few ceiling tiles in my bathroom need replaced due to recent work in the apartment above me. I appreciate the hard work maintenance has done, and this is not an emergency. But the stained tiles are unsightly.

Negative experience: I have rented from Steiner for about 10 years now and DO NOT recommend them as a company. Steiner Realty and their properties have continued to go downhill in the recent years specifically after the expansion / separation of the properties on the East vs the West. Repairs and updates are rarely made and done with very cheap materials that do not last long or address the actual issue. It often looks worse than it did before. The air conditioning in my particular building is an issue for many of the residents I’ve encountered in the last few years - my current unit does not get below 79 degrees. I have raised this to Steiner’s attention who have told me, “it’s not like you pay $1500 dollars for rent. This is the best we can do” - hvac tech. To assist with this issue, I have requested a ceiling fan in my dining room / office but I was told by Steiner that I would need to pay for the materials and time / labor and that the ceiling fan must stay with the unit when I move. They nickel and dime you for everything including raising the rent but not making any (or poor) repairs / updates. This apartment was listed with central air and heat which is not true, even the common areas are extremely warm. I have now purchased my third standalone fan for this unit and consulting with a lawyer to break my lease. Absolutely do not recommend.

Fantastic experience: We’ve been renting with Steiner for close to 8 years now. We have never had any issues with maintenance or quality of the apartments. Some of the appliances and fixtures are dated, but it’s still a lovely place to live. Any maintenance request is attended to promptly. Steiner is possibly the best among the rental management companies in Pittsburgh!
Negative experience: I could quite honestly go on for days about how bad this company is. We lived at thorn run for 7 months. We found mold in our ducts and were told it was “dirt” even after paying for and sending out our own mold cultures. We had severe gas leaks in our furnace which gave us terrible headaches, anxiety, & depression. Most of which has improved since moving out. Our water heater was rusted out from the inside. After providing a treasure trove of evidence, and having multiple maintenance techs out to our unit, we were told there was nothing wrong and we would have to pay to have our vents cleaned. We asked for inspection reports for the property and the furnace and AC. They stated no such records exist. We contacted Moon Twp. who also stated no such records exist. We made it known that we had audio/visual recording security cameras in our home. The maintenance tech who entered our home while we were at work screamed profanities the entire time. He was very verbally abusive to the young man working with him. My dog who is crated during the day was cowering the the corner of his crate because of all the screaming. He insulted myself, my boyfriend, and the young man with him. The COO of the company, Zolan Cook, called us eventually. He acted like he gave a hoot in the beginning, but ultimately reverted back to being the scum bag they all are and said they’ve done everything they can and we just need to live with the mold and rusty water. Let me put it to you this way: Everyone knows how hard it can be to get out of a lease penalty free. This place let us out of our lease 5 months early with zero penalty and gave us our whole deposit back (except for a $75 cleaning fee since I just didn’t care to clean the kitchen when we left). They knew they were wrong. They knew we had a case. They knew they messed up. I don’t know what the heck needs to happen for these crooks to get their stuff together, but they better figure it out quick. DO NOT GIVE THESE IDIOTS A CENT.

Negative experience: Their Avalon apartments are cool but the ELEVATOR HAS BEEN BROKE FOR FOUR MONTHS. They claim they fixed it 3 weeks ago… LIES, it’s already stopped working 4 times (including this morning which is why I’m writing this) Ive been having to walk up and down 84 steps for 4 months, hard to do laundry, hard to grocery shop, and all they do is send an email saying “sorry for the inconvenience”. They also randomly turn the water off at least twice a month during the day for “maintenance” and give you a 2 minute notice… who cares if you’re taking a shower or doing dishes… Water is getting turned off because they say so. A little heads up would be nice but again they do what they want. Aside from those two major things I guess Steiner is ok. ACTUALLY FIX THE ELEVATOR PLEASE!!!! I’m tired of walking up 84 steps it’s ridiculous!!!
We are disappointed to hear that you have not been satisfied with your rental experience with us and we understand your frustrations. Unfortunately, mechanical issues can cause inconveniences for everyone. We try to respond to these as quickly as we can. The elevator issue started as a minor issue that grew into needing a new part that was on back order. Once the part was finally received (several weeks later than initially promised by the vendor doing the repairs), it took them several attempts to get the wiring to work and had to trouble shoot a shorted wire. This is an easy fix when you can find the short, but it took a senior engineer to finally resolve the issue. We believe we have resolved the issue and everything should be working properly going forward. Thank you for your patience.
We try to keep the water outages to a minimum and for as short a time as possible. Unfortunately when an issue is reported in another unit, we often have to shut the water off quickly to fix the issue. We do try and give as much notice as possible while balancing that with providing prompt maintenance in other units when they have issues. I would encourage you to call our maintenance team if it becomes excessive for any reason. Please understand that they are doing their jobs but they should be able to, at worst, provide you with an update and, at best, get the water back on for you.
Negative experience: The apartment is pretty nice but things tend to take a few tries to fix when repairs are needed (namely the roof leaks and carpeting coming loose on the stairs). Wouldn't mind as much if they didn't significantly raise the rent every year (have tried raising by 10-12% annually). No need to raise the rent every year just so their investors can continue to increase their gains. Especially since they are their own investors. Would be a lot better experience without the greedy rent raises that aren't truly justified.

Positive experience: i enjoy renting from Steiner.... every time i've had an issue ,they've helped me in a timely manner... rent is a decent price for the apartment size and location...all in all definitely better then most places that i've lived at before and id recommend Steiner to others and plan to be a tenant for the foreseeable future....
Fantastic experience: These guys are great - they actually try to improve their properties before they need to so that things aren't breaking down all the time. And they install insulation, new kitchens, low flush toilets and sound-dampening windows whenever they do upgrades, so the units are usually better than you expect for the neighborhood. I like them being a long-time local operator too. You always know where to find them.

Fantastic experience: I've been here since 2000 and I just love the place. There are Art Deco touches in the building which I think are great. (Raised strip of wood over the handrail.) Quick maintenance that I brag about. At the moment I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: Steiner Realty is well-organized and well-resourced enough to operate with the reliability of a large firm. More impressive is that a good number of the staff know me by name, and communicate with me as if I am one of a handful of tenants. I'm a self-employed family man, and my needs could frustrate a less capable company. With that in mind, I have been in the same complex for a number of years and experienced other companies. With Steiner, I have witnessed improvements to the property grounds and interiors. Response times to maintenance calls, complaints and inquires have improved. Lastly, there is a quiet orderliness to the place that I especially appreciate. I recommend Steiner Realty whole-heartedly.

Fantastic experience: This location at 1800 Fifth Avenue is very good as is the entire staff. I have been a resident for about three years and enjoy the spaciousness and sturdiness of this landmark building. The only minor drawback I have experienced are the periodic fire alarm drills, which are jarring but brief.

Fantastic experience: Steiner has been my landlord for many, many years. The rent is reasonably priced and the grounds are well maintained. The maintenance staff is prompt and courteous. I would definitely recommend a Steiner property to anyone looking for a new place.
Positive experience: Everyone has been super welcoming, easy to work with, and accommodating. The room is nice for what you pay, everything works, and the location is beautiful. My only complaint is the smell of the hallways, especially floor 6. Other than that it’s overall super solid
Fantastic experience: Steiner reality has been a shining light in the blackhole that is the current rental market. The move in process was streamline, the buidling and surrounding areas are clean and well maintained ( including leaf and snow removal ). The maintenance crew is amazing!! Issues resolved same day when neccessary and within 24hrs on less emergent calls. Everyone is wonderfully nice and respectful, they even somehow perfectly choose respectful tenants. I have no complaints with any of the people in my building. I have never had such a wonderful experience with a leasing company before. They even offer programs to help you become a homebuyer. Ive only been with steiner a year and I love them. The genuine nature of this company and the people that make it up are a very rare occurence. Dont sleep on steiner. Note: most of my neighbors are long term tenants. Ive never talked to anyone that hasnt been in the building for less than 7 years. A testament of quality.
Fantastic experience: Despite it's modest appearance, these apartments are wonderful. But, the landlords are great too! We had a plumbing issue and it was resolved immediately. They are attentive to the outside grounds, they are very communicative so tenants know what to expect (water interruption, work in common areas, etc.), and they seem to actually put the tenants first. This is new for me. I'd recommend this place, especially for animal lovers. Great price, great location, great landlords.

When it came time to renew her lease, we expected a night increase in rent… but there was only a $10 increase! We highly recommend the company and the service they provide — and look forward to another year with them.
Positive experience: I’ve rented with Steiner Realty, Inc., for almost 10 years. I’d also like to see updates for security system on the property. It would be nice to see modern updates to the cosmetics in the bathroom and within the kitchen specifically the fixtures. However, my time has been a good experience.

Parking is a bit iffy on days when there is street cleaning, but overall in a good location. Would recommend to people looking for apartments in Pittsburgh!

Fantastic experience: I’ve lived in my apartment with Steiner going on 10 years. Rent has been very reasonably stable (less than ~$20 per year on average), maintenance is surprisingly quick, and every employee I’ve had come inside has been kind, professional, and efficient. My dishwasher broke one night circa 2016 and I put in a request while I still had dirty dishes in it. Expecting a delay, I hadn’t emptied them all, and they installed a new one the next morning and transferred my dirty dishes for me. I’ve also had 3 friends as either roommates/neighbors in my complex enjoy their time here. Only issue was a bit of lack of communication on my roommate moving out mid-lease (all resolved). Bonus: my cats really love it here (cat tax provided).
Fantastic experience: I like Steiner Realty period..I'm into my second lease with them and I only have one hitch and that is I cant wash clothes anytime in a 24hr period because the Machines are to loud ..My complaint is get updated Machines that don't rattle to allow people to wash clothes at their available time, but other then that their great..My mother passed away in July and they waived my late fee for August so they have consideration for tenants..

Positive experience: My experience living in the one of Steiner realty buildings has been good. My only compliant is that my a/c in the summer is not worth turning on. I have a 625 sq ft. apartment and the temperature doesn't go below 78 degrees all summer with central air and multiple vents. Maintenance has been to my apartment multiple times throughout my years in the apartment and the only suggestion was for me to get dark curtains to keep the sun out, I have both blinds and curtains.
Fantastic experience: Living here has been great the past several months. This review is also specifically for Thorn Run Apartments. I hope it helps! Here are some pros and cons: Pros - • If you have debt (particularly school loans) that negatively affects your credit score, they're willing to work with you to an extent. • They have a partnership with Experian RentBureau and you can get a better credit score by making on-time rent payments. • The apartments are commercial complexes that are professionally managed. They have a responsive maintenance staff. • The size of the apartments are amazing (Thorn Run Apartments). • Many utilities are already covered. • Amenities are included (Thorn Run Apartments). • Pet fees are fairly reasonable compared to many places. • If you have any concerns about safety during the pandemic, they have the utmost respect for this and adhere to state and federal laws/guidelines. Cons - • While I think the rent is priced fairly, if you're looking to save, the associated costs tend to add up quickly. Laundry is particularly expensive. Overall, the costs are more expensive than what I've paid for similar places before, but it's also a larger apartment with a few more amenities. • While amenities are available, if you feel unsafe about using them during the pandemic, that's unfortunately something that is included in the rent that would be wasted. Just another thing to consider if you're looking to save.

Positive experience: As far as apartment buildings go, I'd have to say this is one of the better ones. Rates are decent and competitive for the area, apartment was in "move in" condition. The only negatives are that the laundry machines are in the basement, which is a pain when you have large bins of clothes to wash. Also, the lack of a dishwasher is a pain.

Positive experience: I feel that it’s almost kind of gone a little down from when I first moved in. Parking is almost always an issue for me in the complex at night and cars park illegally often. There are always cars in the lot that don’t have parking tags which makes it a little annoying for those of us that paid for the pass. It’s also hard to email anyone at the office anymore.

Negative experience: Negligent neighborhood wealth extractors. Their properties are littered and badly maintained and overpriced. Avoid. This is not a "random" review. The dead skunk they've left rotting on their property for the past week and the constant litter problems prompted this review, they are terrible neighbors. I have tried calling. The corpse is not hidden, it is directly next to their utility building. *Edit* They have removed the skunk after 12 days., after it had already "gone off".
I'm not sure why you have this poor opinion of us. We try especially hard to maintain all of our properties to an extremely high standard. If you have a specific complaint, please call us directly so that we can try to address it. Posting random negative online reviews doesn't help to solve anything. And it is unfair to us in the extreme.

Fantastic experience: I had nothing but good experiences with Steiner. I rented with them for a year, and they were attentive with every issue I had (furnace going out once, adding a piece of wood so my cat couldn't get under the counter, and a pressure regulator problem -- nothing major). They sent someone out either the day I placed the maintenance request or sent me an email that they'd have someone come the next workday. The rental portal was very convenient to use and the employees were very courteous and pleasant when showing my apartment to potential tenants. I always received a warning through email in advance that someone was coming to tour. Best experience I've had with any rental company so far.

Fantastic experience: Steiner Realty, Inc. was my landlord for 2+ years at the most beautiful 3rd floor East facing (for my succulents and plants, and morning coffees, sitting outside in the rain being covered on the balcony) with big windows and private covered brick balcony - the last apartment in a 6 unit building 2 blocks from the bus stops and facing/overlooking (but not too high like a highrise, only 3 floors this being the top one) the tree-filled Trenton Square parklet and sky with sunrise - the sunset streaming in through the back bedrooms. Steiner are the best landlords I've had. They are organized and established. The AppFolio Portal app the company uses is extremely easy and user friendly and makes payment very quick and convenient and you can see your legal documents as well as maintenance request progress in real time. Maintenance has long time people who become familiar and who come within the same day or when requested and who always fix any issue correctly without messing up. Also to note is that they gave me a wonderful incentive for having such a high credit score where I only had to pay 1/3 of the security deposit moving in late September 2020 - this established a sense of trust from the start - I don't know anyone that does this! The showing agent was extremely pleasant and she (same person) will email and text you days in advance to let you know when they're showing your space. The Central ac and heat are excellent and can be adjusted at any time with the heat being included in the rent. The far east end neighborhood of Regent Square is one I've been in for so many years and Trenton Avenue is both laid back and a walk away from the largest with trails park in the city - Frick Park and now houses 3 coffee shops/bakeries - 2 within 800 ft walking distance, but still far enough to be super quiet here. Walls are so insulated you never hear anything! And when I moved in, everything was freshly painted (soft cream is very nice and not stark white) and the tiled bathroom has a lovely charm. I'm only leaving this gorgeous spot and wonderful time I've had living here to find a new place, as planned, with my fiance. My experience is that Steiner Realty is the best and based on my experience with them on all fronts, I would highly recommend them!

Negative experience: The only thing they are good in is rising prices! I called them twice to rise the heat temperature but nothing done(their answer was : we dropped temperature because some residentswindows were opened!this answer made me crazy),everything was good with the previous management company till Steiner came.... so disappointed.

Negative experience: They have wide range options with a competitive price Initially. I was happy about everything and write a good review. but I feel, I need to update my review after I asked for the maintenance. 21 days of delays for fixing a issue concerning a radiator valve, and the response that I got is unfixable! If you opt to work with them be ready to not receive a proper response for the maintenance at least that is my personal experience, hope that happened only for me and not for anybody else!

Fantastic experience: My experience with Steiner Realty has been nothing but enjoyable. Moving from out-of-state and unable to see my future apartment in-person before signing was nerve-wracking, but Steiner worked with me to do a walk-through virtually, as well as answering any and all of my questions honestly. Communication regarding maintenance issues is timely and respectful, and they do a great job at communicating with tenants about annual maintenance and other happenings. The online portal is also convenient and easy to navigate!
