Fantastic experience: Courtney Owens is very professional. He takes his time to explain a situation and presents all options. He makes sure the his work is quality and checks to make sure that my husband and I are satisfied with the work and the solution. We couldn't have gotten a more professional, kind and diligent person. 06/2024 Had an issue with a ceiling fan. It took the company a month to get this fixed. They scheduled and rescheduled me to the point of frustration. The one good thing out of the experience was Karl. He was very polite, patient, and professional. He understood my frustration and did everything he could to get the job promptly scheduled and completed. His professionalism was outstanding.

Negative experience: In our lease agreement it states we make monthly payment for water bill then Main Street pays water company. They did not pay one month and my water got shut off. I had to pay out of pocket to have water turned back on. When I called Main Street to collect reimbursement they said they don’t reimburse those types of “concessions.” Rent some where else, I can’t wait to go to court for this.

Negative experience: Update : January 7, 2026 6 months here, just about as many issues. We discovered a water leak in our Master bathroom last night. This bathroom shares the wall with the Master bedroom. The bedroom wall is wet and warm to the touch. The floor is soaked with water. It was too late to call, so we filed a report and called this morning, at 8 a.m., but husband followed up by 1 p.m., after hearing nothing. He spoke to a supervisor and she assured us that the situation was considered urgent and would be handled. I sent an email around the same time. As usual, we've received no call backs or emails, as of 6:00 p.m. I took a video, but unfortunately cannot post it here. I'll share a couple of pics in hopes, that someone will care enough to reach out. We are at our wits end. AND the septic tank is still not completely fixed. Update: November 25, 2025 No reply via email, I've now sent 2 as requeated below. Our yard has been destroyed since Thursday, by a company hired my Mainstreet to fix our septic issues. It is now Tuesday, 2 days before Thanksgiving, when we have family coming over, and still no resolution, while apparently the septic company is waiting on a response from Mainstreet. We had to call to have them come back and put up caution tape. There was just this gaping hole, with no warning for others. We can't go off our back porch, allow our dogs outside, or use the side yard at all. The blows keep coming. Yet, were still expected to pay $1700 a month!! Update: As of Novemeber 11, 2025, and messaging the below provided email, I've had no reply back. Update as of November 7, 2025 We paid out of pocket last weekend to have our heat fixed. Had we not done so, we would be in quite a predicament as the weather was in the 40s last week and is supposed to be in the teens this upcoming week. We couldn't risk staying in a cold house with two children. Oddly enough, both of my children were sick last week as well. The company is aware, but no reimbursement has been offered. The door was fixed today. The customer service, or lack thereof, was appalling. I took off work to accommodate the repairman, who would only work around his schedule and not ours. Even though I scheduled a meeting specifically around him, and my husband asked him to come later, he STILL came in close to my meeting time. He arrived first, yesterday, but couldn't complete the job. He maybe spoke one sentence to my husband. He came back today. He never spoke a single word to me, even when I greeted him. There ended up being a total of three technicians. Even though I took off and was home, they didn't acknowledge me, but instead communicated with my husband, via text. We now have a leak under our house. The horrible nightmare saga continues.... We have lived in our rental since July. Upon our initial move in, we were without hot water for several days due to a faulty hot water heater. Thankfully, that issue was resolved quickly. We now have a front door that can only be locked from indoors(when someone is there) and no heat. We sent in a repair request 1 week ago. After hearing nothing back, my husband reached out, only to be told that there was no repairman available and that they would let us know when someone could come out. Unhappy with this resolution, he was then told to just break our lease, which is obviously not feasible or an appropriate response. This is what we understood anyway, as getting to speak with a representative who actually speaks proficient English, is next to impossible. We have 2 children at home, who walk into a house everyday where someone could be waiting to prey on them and who go to sleep cold nightly. We pay entirely too much to not be treated with respect, appreciated, and taken care of in an appropriate amount of time and matter.

Negative experience: Honestly the worse rental agency I have had experience with. Phone system is basically a run around. Trying to get maintenance to do anything in a semi timely manner is near impossible. Have had work order in since October and tech canceled 3x only for the rep to tell me it must have been a "glitch " as he was only assigned once yet I have three cancelation texts. They try to go up on rent after our first year lease was ending. After we called to notify them of our intent to now renew, they came back and offered rent at the same price were currently paying. They're not part of the BBB which is understandable. Communication, operations, and overall experience is wel below par.

They are one of the most unreliable companies I have ever been associated with and good look if you have an emergency, like busted pipes or worse, lets just say a week or more is there response time....if you are lucky. Positive experience: I have been a tenant of MSR for a little over a year. It started out rocky. I lived about an hour away from the rental. I went to the house and loved it so I completed an app. I noticed there was no fridge or stove. When I spoke with the local leasing agent over the phone to complete my lease agreement she assured me the appliances would be installed before I moved in which was a few weeks later. I called a week before my move in date to be sure the appliances had been installed. I was transferred overseas and I could tell the guy wasn't fully understanding what I was asking. After a long hold he came back and said the appliances had been installed so I was all set. I called a few days later just to confiirm again and was told the same thing. When the moving company and I showed up with all of my stuff ready to unload, I could not get the Rently lock to unlock and the only key I was given didn't fit any of the doors. This was on a Saturday so the offices were closed. Luckily I was able to unlock it with the app. The stove had been installed but no fridge. I had about $1000 worth of refrigerated/frozen food in my car. I put as much as I could in coolers with ice but had to throw most of the frozen stuff away. Had I known I would be without a fridge for a few days I could have planned accordingly. I finally received the fridge a few days later (shout out to Jason for prioritizing and getting my fridge out the day after he was informed of the issue). The garage door also didn't work which was basically the only way I could get in and out without leaving a door unlocked since the front lock is impossible to get in/out of and my only key didn't work with any of the locks. This has since been fixed. This was the bad part of my experience so far. Now for the good. A good maintenance team is hard to find but this maintenance team is wonderful! The guys are awesome and they are quick to get out and fix my issue. No surprise that I have to give an extra shout out to Courtney. He is one of the nicest humans on the planet. So respectful and helpful and you just can't help but feel happy when he's around. All of the guys are phenomenal though. They are all always so kind, respectful and friendly. They are the reason for the 4 stars and my decision to renew my lease. I would have given 5 stars if the over the phone customer service was able to match the maintenance customer service. I totally get using overseas companies and am not at all against it, but at least make sure they can understand and process your request accurately.

Fantastic experience: Courtney was awesome and went above and beyond for me. He escalated the issue with the kitchen outlets not working as well as the grass being overgrown upon move in. The 5 star review is for Courtney. Outside of that, I wish the issues with the house were addressed before I moved in especially if someone completed a “Move In Assessment” as shown on the resident portal. The overgrown grass was plain as day, I’m no electrician but so could tell the kitchen outlets were not working, and the water seeping up through the tile cracks in the master bathroom when you step on it seemed pretty clear as well.

Negative experience: Main Street Renewal is careless and unprofessional. They put homes under contract sight-unseen, skip proper inspections, then terminate and waste everyone’s time. Important details like the roof age and disclosed repairs were ignored. This company has a pattern of this — be cautious accepting offers from them and review thoroughly. They claim they don’t see inspections - inspector didn’t even inspect the house.

Negative experience: I signed my lease on July 21st. I haven’t been able to live here because they lied and said the house was total electric. I have been communicating with them and all their response is the house is total electric. Even when I have sent pictures. Things that should have been fixed prior to moving in wasn’t. They left the sign in the yard and sent someone to pick it up. When today they came early outside of the appointment and I’m thinking they are sending someone out to see that in fact this is a gas house that the water and stove is operating by gas. I called the maintenance guy back and he said he had to contact his boss to see if he could come back. He called back and said the boss said I would need to get the gas on in order for them to see that the house is gas. Which makes no since. He also said the house if it was cleared for someone to move the sign would not have been left and that someone dropped the ball. He wanted to help but could not due to his bosses response: I’m angry because no one has taken the time to look into the lie that they said prior and during my lease.. I haven’t been able to sleep here in almost a month because I don’t have hot water or gas to cook and this company hasn’t sent anyone or called to fixed this problem. Each communication via text is we are showing the house is total electric. This is awful customer service and misleading information they gave. No one has tried to help rectify this situation

Negative experience: They have a history of renting to people who then trash the house and violate the HOA and when the house is abandoned and trash and furniture are left out, they are slow with responding to complaints and have received numerous fines.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars I would. Main Street has been so difficult to work with. The communication is pretty much nonexistent. It’s like pulling teeth to even speak with a representative. We’ve been trying to work through a concession for the past few months. We’ve submitted at least ten documents, which is exactly what they asked for, and the concession keeps getting closed out with no explanation. This last time we finally got the bare minimum and was told they closed it for which now is the third time due to "insufficient documentation". Which they refuse to actually explain or communicate. There was no email, no call or anything, we only found out by checking the app and seeing the concession was removed. Our water heater went out and it took them forever to actually fix the issue. Kept giving us the run around. The only person who has actually been a pleasure to work with is who I believe to be one of the maintenance guys, Courtney. Other than that terrible experience with the company overall. They also gave us the house with the grass at least 5ft tall.

Negative experience: I can not express this enough: DO NOT RENT THROUGH MAIN STREET RENEWAL! Our experience has been a nightmare. Our house was falsely advertised; It was far from move in ready. The house was very dirty upon move it date. The pictures had to have been years outdated. We’ve had to put in 20+ maintenance requests in less than a year with them being handled incredibly lazily, hence the repeated requests. Our first issue was a squirrel living in our attic coming and going whenever. That lasted several months before the root issue (the actual hole it was coming in) was resolved. Then plumbing issues that needed repaired to now our AC for almost the entirety of the summer has been not working properly and they’ve sent the same shitty company out at least 7 times now with no progress being made. A nearly $400 electric bill every month just for 80+ degrees. All this for them to refuse a break in our lease. Don’t do it. Rent through literally anyone else.

Negative experience: These people have no idea how to respond to the multiple requests to view properties I've sent in the last 2 weeks. I pretty much know I really want this 1 house but, I need to see it first. I don't understand why I've gone through different portals and sites to get nothing back. Don't you want my money? To add to this: I Tried touring a home. They have 2 different prices, 2 different zip codes, everything on multiple sites. I went to the address as pinned on google and even their online map picture is mispinned. The 2 different zip codes represent locations 30 minutes away! The address pinned does not technically exist. When I called main street's number, apparently a bunch of people in India make these listings. So shady. The fact I had to pay Rently to tour nothing and waste my time will ensure I'll never do business with them.

Negative experience: Customer Service is terrible. It’s a struggle to make maintenance requests. They don’t work with your schedule. If you do get a maintenance request through. They don’t show up on time or some times don’t even show up. The maintenance that gets done is half assed or again don’t even show up.

Fantastic experience: Well were hit hard by some storms that came through a few weeks ago and a tree fell on our home. We lost power to the home for a whole week. Mainstreet sent out vendors immediately to help get the situation rectified. We were back in our house and had power within the week. Our AC also went out during this time and a maintenance man by the name of Courtney Owens made us his first priority and had air restored the same day he came to look at the air unit. Courtney also set up a new mailbox at our property because our original one was destroyed by debris in the storm. We are very grateful for Courtney and his thoughtfulness and also for Mainstreet being prompt on handling all of this madness that happened to us. Negative experience: This is the worse experience I have had renting a home firstly they omitted the fact that the house was a well Water home I have been in the house in McCalla Al for 3 months I have done numerous complaints about the quality of the water the water is extremely smelly any time I try to wash clothes takes bath or anything with the water black filth comes out where it has now made the sink’s faucets tubs and even my washer extremely dirty although I keep complaining I’ve gotten no results instead of fixing the problem they pour chemicals in the water claiming it fixes the problem but it doesn’t it’s like putting a bandage on the problem and telling me to deal with it the company that owns the well water filtration system says the house has been sitting for 5 years and that the filtration system odd old and needed to be replaced but they still haven’t replaced the system for the 3rd time they came out to tested the water but done no work to the home I’ve asked to be moved into another property they stated that they don’t allow that I pay almost 1700 monthly in rent there is no reason I shouldn’t have fresh water in my home

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. This has been a HELL of an experience and not in a good way. I am not sure how this company continues to function with such little regard for its tenants. I moved in Jan 4 and have been having problems from the beginning. The house WAS NOT ready. Appliances weren’t installed, toilets still wrapped (one had URINE IN it), dirty floors, walls hadn’t been painted, and I’ve even found a broken window nestled into the ground, literally at the base of the stairs I’m supposed to walk up. There was not a real lock on one of the exterior doors,actual holes in the wall, water heater was broken, a literal makeshift banister, AND MORE. It’s absolutely INSANE they allowed this home to be rented and I am considering perusing legal action because of it. I would highly advise renting w another company. This one is not one that cares for their homes or their tenants.

Negative experience: 12/16/24 Once again another issue while under contract with this rental. Our refrigerator has gone out and needs replaced which they have agreed to replace. Note: We have been without a refrigerator now for a week. They advised us today they will replace it but it may take up to 3 weeks. This is unacceptable considering we have a child in home that requires cold milk, medicines to be chilled. Family was coming for Christmas Day, no way all this can be done without a refrigerator. The least they should do at this point is provide a rental or reimburse us for getting one until new one arrives. Once again their answering service and/or agents have no clue, can't provide any real updates and refused to reimburse if we do. Typical rental agency these days. Update: it’s now been 8 days as of 4/23/24, no one has still contacted us in any way. This is so sad on many levels. Recent rental customers currently renting thru Mainstreet. Service is absolute worse. Unable to get air conditioning serviced after living here since February 2024. Keyed a service ticket 4 days ago and haven’t heard from anyone. You can only speak to a call center or key request online, no other options. They are heartless, we have a 2 year old child and this AC is no concern for them.

Negative experience: My children and I have been without power for a total of four days. This residential company was made aware of how having no electricity has impacted my family and I negatively. We have been without food, cold water, and all of our basic daily necessities due to the negligence of this home.I was informed that they received my maintenance request associated with the AC unit, which was wrong. My complaint was regarding no electricity! I was instructed to contact my renter’s insurance company to file a claim associated with all of the spoiled food and hotel expenses. They didn’t give a damn whether my kids and were safe. Please do not ever rental from this residential company!

Negative experience: I've had 2 occurrences so far where repair appointments were scheduled, and the repair person never showed up. I received no notice they weren't coming at all. I've only been renting here a month. On top if that, if I were to miss the appointment I'd be charged $100 for it. So, each time I have an appointment, I take that time off of work to make sure I'm here. You'd think for paying almost $2200/month for a nicer home I'd receive better service than this. When you call the company to talk about it, it goes to some foreign cal center where you just get generic responses and no real solution. They just say "we will contact the local management and get back to you" which ends up with me having to call back again a week later.

Fantastic experience: I had a maintenance issue and Karl fixed it. He was nice and efficient. Had the same issue due to the design of the gutters and the lock MSL uses and a new maintenance person came (different from Karl) but they were still friendly and fixed the issue.
