Experiencia negativa: Indigo Winter Park by McKinley has been the worst and most shocking rental experience I have ever had. We were forced to leave our home due to unsafe conditions, including animal activity inside the walls, and management still insist that we provide a 60‑day notice and pay an additional two months of rent to leave early. The level of greed is unbelievable — especially when Florida law clearly states that rent must be abated for the days a unit is uninhabitable, they have not acknowledge that at any given time. Instead of taking responsibility, they continued to demand full payment while we are displaced and unable to live for the place that we pay for! Would you have your family live in these conditions? Lack of accountability on pest control issues, deteriorating furnitures, having animals scratching through our bedroom wall, they claim it’s a new manager and they can’t access past work orders, this is absolute BS as we have provided them screenshots of work orders put into their system! We put a work order in July 20th, 2025 regarding pest control, they are claiming March 9th is the first they were made aware this is absolute BS! The lack of accountability is insane. Let’s even talk about their community manager! I swear the worst they treat residents and the cheapest fix they make, has to be the more they get paid for the level of greed this place has demonstrated! Absolutely disgusting behavior! Communication from management has been dismissive, inconsistent, and at times completely unprofessional. There is zero consideration for residents’ safety, well‑being, or legal rights. This community is mismanaged from top to bottom, and the lack of accountability is alarming. I would never recommend this property to anyone.
Experiencia negativa: Ann Arbor's favorite SLUM LORD monopoly. Tenants have the right to safe living spaces but McKinley doesn't agree. They aren't around to agree. Strategic skeletal staffing and repeated firings allow them to rake in the exorbitant rent $$$ and literally ignore any problems at their properties, like ceilings collapsing and injuring tenants (in my building, a minor, and they didn't fix the massive hole in my neighbor's apartment for over a month). Police involved every single day b/c company doesn't do anything to mitigate issues. Good luck living at any spot run by this joke of a company. Report any tenant issues to the new A2 rental commission thru city council to hold this unethical juggernaut accountable!

Experiencia negativa: I have made several complaints to management about neighbors feeding squirrels peanuts, the squirrels pooping on my windowsill, in my air conditioner, on my porch, and leaving peanuts shella there for me to clean up on a daily basis. I have made several complaints about people feeding cats. I love potentially getting diseased from animals tracking in pee, vomit, and poop everyday smelling it while I'm chilling in my living room. They literally leave out trays of food and water for the cats and management does nothing. These cats throw up on your porch, poop on your porch, and spray pee everywhere. Management does not care all they simply have to do is call animal services and have these pests removed and they refuse to. They complain no one says anything about infestation but a cat infestation is something serious but okay. They make over $22,000 a unit you think they put any of that money into them lmao. Give them your money and find out for yourself. Don't put in a work order it'll be canceled and never fulfilled lmao.

Experiencia negativa: This is the absolute worst place I have ever lived due to management. They don’t seem to care about their residents in the slightest. I’ve been dealing with a safety concern due to other residents for months and they are unresponsive. I’ve had to call 911 on other residents because they are fighting and threatening to shoot & stab people. Management said they can’t tell me anything about how they’re handling it because of privacy concerns… I’m sorry but I don’t really care about their privacy when I had a man 6 ft outside my window threatening to shoot everyone. I don’t think Brittany would want to live in those conditions either. It takes weeks to get a response, if you ever get one. One time there was a lady who was screaming outside for an extended period of time and then she pulled her pants down and pissed on the sidewalk in broad daylight and I never heard anything back from management when I reported it. If you lived in building 1832 in September 2025, you probably unknowingly stepped in a big puddle of piss and tracked it into your apartment. When I first moved in, the keys they gave me didn’t work on my apartment door. After talking to the community manager at the time, I found out they never changed the locks before I moved in and they told me to wait until Monday because it wasn’t an emergency (I moved in on a Friday). I had to call and beg them to send someone to change my lock so I could lock my new apartment full of all of my belongings. They begrudgingly agreed to send someone on Saturday morning, so I couldn’t lock my door on the first night. A few weeks before I moved in, they told me the 1-bedroom apartment I had reserved was no longer available and my only option was to take a 2-bedroom. I still had to pay rent for the 2-bedroom with only a few weeks notice even though it was their mistake that they had promised me an apartment that didn’t exist. These are only a few examples of the many issues I’ve had here. It feels like I’m never at peace here because I’m always dealing with some ridiculous issue that management refuses to address. They never answer the phones. They are never in the office. Maintenance is rude and unhelpful. I wouldn’t live in this complex again if they paid ME.
Experiencia negativa: The commons senior building in Taylor management socks shows favoritism the secretary gossips with residents Jeremiah Webster talks down on some female residents. Richard the janitor was caught going in someone's apartment than claimed it was a mistake yeah right. The care more about the way the lobby and outside of building looks. This building used too be nice, it's gone down every 2 or three years there's a new manager, wonder way. The City of Talor should hire someone who cares about ALL residents needs ,not a select few. The staff so busy in people's business thing to manage tenants lives, when their hired to manage the business not the human beings that's seniors. If you smile in faces and not speak up for yourself I suppose it's for you.
Experiencia negativa: This company is a terrible. Rent is over priced. They take their sweet time making repairs…..months. They charge ridicules late fees if your rent is one day late (yes that ridicules) they don’t give the five day grace period like most rental properties. They want their rent money in time but yet my bathroom sink hasn’t worked since April… we’re in August and I just reported again after maintenance said they would send a plumber out in early July. Let’s not get on the roaches and mice. They move anybody up in here because some of the apartments are subsidized. And the people be nasty with roaches and the roaches and mice just run from apartment to apartment. They have some janky pest control come out who spray one are of a room where you say you saw something at then leave. Don’t spray the whole house. Don’t patch up wholes. They just hand you a bunch of traps to put down yourself then u have to be worried about finding dead mice and picking them up yourself so if you have a toddler good luck to you. The mice were only coming during the winter months now they come during summer months too. Eat and chew up and ruin all of your clothing because they keep making new wholes through out the damn house. They make up all type of excuses for having mice and say oh it’s normal yet I’ve lived in other places and never ever had mice because those land lords actually take care of their properties. I would rate this company zero stars if I could

Experiencia negativa: Rundown, everything is broken, overpriced with roaches The management will tell you anything to get you in here and get your money. They look good on the outside but that’s about it. When I got here my apartment was dirty, wasn’t painted, everything is old and falling apart but they said it was upgraded and charged me extra for it. Then management is snotty. I’m the one who got scammed…Geez!

Experiencia fantástica: I live in Traver Heights, and I would like to compliment Mark, who helped me with replacing a broken bulb and repairing a CO detector. He arrived very promptly, even though it was late on a Friday afternoon, and resolved both issues efficiently. Mark was not only professional and skilled, but also incredibly friendly, talkative, and interesting to chat with. I really appreciated his help and attitude—excellent service!

Experiencia negativa: The management is the worst. I currently live at Traver Courts on the north side of Ann Arbor, but I know for a fact the management doesn't improve no matter what location you're at. If you want management to actually care about you and listen to what you have to say, live anywhere else. McKinley continues to top itself time and again with how poorly they treat their tenants. Thanks McKinley and Traver Courts specifically for a terrible 2 years of housing at an extremely high rate ($1800/mo for a kitchen that's falling apart, bathroom problem, appliances that continually break, etc.) All this to say: AVOID MCKINLEY PROPERTIES.

Experiencia negativa: Put the topper from my truck on the ground for one day because I needed to haul a ladder and the management team at evergreen apartments took it to the scrap yard, they lied to me and said they threw it in the dumpster, after a couple hours emptying it, I did not find it. After 2 weeks fighting with the manager (Joe) finally talked to his supervisor who told me they couldn’t do anything. Hoping I have a case in small claims court, will not be renewing my lease

Experiencia negativa: A terrible company. I have been receiving texts from McKinley on a daily basis. I would block and report spam their number, but would receive more texts from different numbers. Probably some robots. I am on the do-not-contact registry. McKinley needs to stop harassing people with unwanted texts. They are truly despicable.

Experiencia negativa: This company has terrible management. You can't get through to anyone at corporate office because there is a robot that directs and you're only allowed to leave a voice message, and you'll never hear or talk to someone from the corporate office. Its almost like they KNOW they have poor management and resorted to not bothering to talk to tenants at all. So don't waste your time calling. I've been dealing with a health violation everyday for the past four months because of a disruptive and unsanitary neighbor. The neighbor has a habit that he thinks is quite funny to let his dog out onto his balcony to pee and poop and it comes down to my balcony and I've been complaining to the office for months now, the dog breed isn't even allowed on property and I do believe, JASON the COMMUNITY MANAGER DOES NOT CARE. If you have any issues with McKinley I'd suggest you reach out to a third party that can further assist you with your issue with McKinley. McKinley give the bare minimum(even less) to tenants they rent to, and expect you to solve any issues on your own. Along with being ignored by McKinley properties, it seems that multiple of their properties have roach infestation they have no idea how to handle, tenant requests are never a priority so it will not be solved, safety hazards in buildings from EXIT signs being broken and wires banging EXPOSE, to homeless people sleeping in the hallways,storing their things throughout the hallways such as clothes,shopping carts and food. Moral to story, this company clearly has no morals and hire unprofessional people such as Jason from the Villas and Linda who is also at the Villas.

Experiencia negativa: Get out while you can!!! Run far away from McKinley. They are literally the worst. We got the same run around from one of their properties days became weeks and their reasoning became incredibly crazy-a homeless man had been let in by the previous owner and McKinley couldn’t get him out after the tenant had left. Then we got into another of their properties and should’ve heeded the clear warning about them because weeks after we moved in we got bedbugs. Spent thousand of dollars on hotels due to their complete incompetence in dealing with the problem. Went to court and judge sided with them even though we had direct evidence that the previous tenants wrote, on a public McKinley forum, that they had same exact issue in the unit (with the unit number listed) and still ended up being ruled against and had to pay them money. I spent $15,000 on safe accommodations for my family. The amount of pain and suffering we experienced was immeasurable. Get out even if you’ve signed. Just get out.

I have sent 6 emails over the last 22 days about a resident leaving their loose trash out and rodents getting into it, dragging it into the breezeway. I got one response saying they were forwarding it to the property manager. They have still not done anything and have not replied to my last 3 emails. I sent a message to the corporate office as well with no follow up. As much as I pay in rent, I should not have to walk over trash because the office staff can’t do their job!!!’

I'm a disabled veteran on a fixed income, they are evicting over a $150 fee that one I think is garbage and 2 could be paid one day after their deadline! Absolutely shameful! The accountant just responds "it's a business" they taught caring on website, but it's all about the money! I've reached out to corporate and they don't even respond! Figures!! I served with honor! They can't say the same!

Experiencia positiva: I can't recommend or endorse McKinley as a company, but I can say that their on-call maintenance techs, Eddie and Mark, deserve 5 stars as human beings. They were absolute rockstars tonight responding to an emergency call about a stuck raccoon and saved this animal's life. The only reason this review is not 5 stars is because of McKinley as a company being problematic, but on-call maintenance techs Eddie and Mark deserve all of the possible stars.

Experiencia negativa: I just don’t understand how outdated everything is in Evergreen apartments the hallways are all filthy. The carpets need to be pulled up and replace outlets in some of the hallways are broken. Is German cockroaches in the apartments? I pay too much money to be living like this you guys need to do something ASAP sending out an exterminator is just not always the answer to this you need to come and inspect these apartments. I have a ton of cockroaches behind my oven behind & behind my refrigerator. They’re literally coming from the outside of my apartment. I don’t even like having company come over, because the simple fact that, it’s cockroaches even in the hallways and I know I’m not the only person who have reached out who has talk to McKinley regarding this issue.

I live at the courtyards in taylor and i have been having multiple concerns and i feel like i get fast talked and nobody really cares about my issues. You guys are not understanding at all with people not being able to always pay their rent on the first and the added late fees after a few days are not helpful. Experiencia negativa: I have complained, called the police, sent emails about my unruly neighbors and they did absolutely nothing. My only other option is to contact my lawyer...Again! They had the nerve to go up on rent but they do absolutely nothing. My children and I can't sleep or rest. My neighbors have been taunting me by making noise in the middle of the night to wake me up. They have broke multiple laws in their lease but they're still able to live here. So disappointing.

Experiencia negativa: These people are leeches on society. They are the worst management company possibly in the entire state. They will threaten you with eviction over mere technicalities and instill fear in your heart for no reason. Just know it is extremely hard to evict and we have strong renter protections in Michigan and don’t let them take advantage of you. They maintain properties to the bare minimum and if you like living in a slum where they treat you like serfs, they are the perfect landlord for you.

Experiencia negativa: Complained multiple times about the severely creaky and noisy ceiling in my upstairs apartment in Evergreen. They did not pay any heed to the noise complaints but checked the floors upstairs and promised to change the carpeting at least. But of course they never followed up nor did they answer my several emails. Meanwhile my upstairs tenants are rampantly making creaky noises in the middle of every single night and I haven’t had a good sleep for months. Terrible service.

Experiencia negativa: I’m a Senior Citizen living in the Commons apts. Recently there was a flood and I’m experiencing the fumes coming through my vents that has me with a dry cough and headaches. I’m not able to use my heat because of the fumes. I did report this to the manager Thomas on 12/31/22 he said he would be sending a contractor out to my apartment on Tuesday 1/2/23, today. No one came out to fix the problem, and Thomas never gave me a Courtesy call to let me know someone was coming at a later date. It seem to me that Thomas doesn’t have any Compassion or Consideration for the Senior Citizens. He’s not listening to anything they have to say. He’s unprofessional. He knew whenever there’s a flood there will be fumes, Mildew, Mole and water in the walls, so he could have rectified the problem before the fumes start coming into my vents. He’s been in my apt and knows that I’m on a Oxygen machine. That’s why I can say Thomas do not care about Senior Citizens. I had too take extra breathing treatments and use more Oxygen because of the fumes. If I open the vents and turn on the heat I’m constantly coughing. I have to boil a pot of water on top of my stove and put on layers of clothes just to keep warm. I did reach out to our prior manager that works at another property by the name of Kam. I explained my situation hoping she could help me, but it’s really nothing she could do. I mentioned to her on top of all this I just got discharge from the hosp. on the 21 of Dec. The offices always have friendly faces that will stop their day-day tasks to support you, the grounds are spotless, and the wide range of amenities really amplify the living experience. McKinley wasn't unique in encountering the pandemic, but they stayed ahead of the curb with proactive policy shifts that no doubt kept residents and employees as safe as humanly possible. They also managed to do so without losing a human touch which speaks volumes!

Experiencia fantástica: There are so many reasons to love McKinley and their properties. One of my favorite things about McKinley are the teams in the offices. My personal experience at the property I lived at was wonderful. The front office staff always was attentive if I had anything I needed assistance with, the maintenance team was always timely and completed my work orders fully. All teams were professional, kind and helpful. The community and grounds were cleanly, landscaped nicely and the amenities were always kept up and available for use. I enjoyed my experience there and am happy to have called it my home for the time I was there.

The laundy room is flooded, water is leaking to the 1st floor, carpet is ruined, a light fixture is trashed. Maintenance has not responded as of now. You have been warned! Never EVER rent from McKinley. We live in Roundtree...dirty, filthy hallways and laundry room. Front steps are crumbling. Front door lock is broken. MANAGEMENT IS UNRESPONSIVE & DOES NOT CARE.

Experiencia negativa: Update: To the suprise of no one, "managment" has not contacted me to deal with this as their response says they would. ROUNDTREE RENTER BEWARE: If your belongings go missing, don’t rule out your property manager or maintenance as the primary suspect. On 9/5 I found my in-building storage unit to have the lock cut and all my belongings missing. To be clear, it was only my things gone, the bikes and nonlocked items were not removed (this is important later). I filed a police report and followed up with the leasing office the next day. I was told that my items were in the wrong storage unit so they had removed them, but they were in the maintenance storage area, and they would call me when the maintenance person could unlock that building. My items were in the correctly labeled storage space. An hour later I had not heard anything, so I went back to the office and was told that they had a maintenance request for the items to be moved but they had no info as to where the items were. I called the police back to come talk to them since they would not say anything other than “We are looking into it”. They told the police they had no information and they had not touched my things or removed anything from the building. With the help of the police my items were later recovered in a mechanical room on the property. The property manager still maintains that they had nothing to do with it and that it must have been a neighbor or a random person off the street. When I told her that explanation is nonsensical she told me that life doesnt have to make sense and offered to end my lease because finding a new apartment and moving with a pregnant wife is such a quick and cheap process. I am pursuing legal remedy to this situation.

Experiencia negativa: I’ve lived in this community since 2016 and have never received as poor of an experience as the one I just had switching my lease from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom. After weeks of basically needing to hound the office about the terms of my new lease And being reassured MULTIPLE times that I would have from July the 1st to the 10th to move my things and it wasn’t until 2 DAYS Before my move in date that I was able to speak to a manager in the leasing office who told me that once ai sign a lease for a new apartment there that the terms of the old lease suddenly dissolve which would mean that not only would I not have until the 10th but I would o to have 3 days, all of which I’m supposed to be working (and I’m a chef I work 12 hour days minimum) to move my home. And when I requested to be given the keys a half a day early so that I could start moving I was informed that not only could I not get the keys early, but I wouldn’t have them until the afternoon of the 1st, basically leaving me a half day to move my things, and leaving my roommate essentially homeless for 2 weeks because he doesn’t get the keys to his new apartment until July 10th. And for all of this, no apology, no nothing. Like I said I’ve lived here since 2016 and I was excited to move here back then, and now I can only say I regret having renewed my lease here.

Experiencia negativa: Mckinley properties… live in them for over 8 years. Had good experience the first years in Manchester Flats & Evergreen apartments. Went back to Manchester flats in June 2021 and have had not the best experience maintenance issues. Front and back door not very safe with locks and are off and on fixed or patched up. I currently have 100 or more flies swarming our hallway which is a great feel of welcoming after a long day at work for the passed 3 days. Memorial Day weekend we were in pitch black (no lights in hallways) for 4 days. Currently the second floor still don’t have lights working). I have neighbors that I have to call the police on becomes the boyfriend of a mother with a baby comes over (who isn’t part of the lease) and starts yelling and throwing things. Let me ask any of you…would you want to live here??? I’m not a Karen…I’m a person that just need a home that is a comfortable place to live near the city of Ann Arbor.

Experiencia negativa: Absolutely horrible, unethical company. They have residents over a barrel, and they use that fact to be absolute SLUMLORDS. You know it's bad when their own maintenance men openly complain they aren't allowed to do proper repairs because it "costs too much." Then when your lease is up for renewal, they jack up the rent, and mock you when you point out how unethical it is. Huge rent increases, despite residents complaining of conditions, knowing people have limited options because this terrible company owns a huge percent of apartments. HORRIBLE

Experiencia negativa: Pathetic service. Our dishwasher(at Glencoe hills) is not working since two months. First they told that some part of machine has been ordered to replace with the previous one. But the part never came . After 15 days of continuous calls they brought the part from sister apartment.(they can do this earlier). After two days again machine failed to operate. Since then they are telling us that they have ordered a new dishwasher for us...it's been more than a month now. They are not even giving us the details.. We have a super active toddler in house. Its very difficult to do manage all things. We called at local stores for dishwasher they said within two days they can deliver. Very frustrating sevice.

Experiencia negativa: I live in Evergreen Apartments and it’s the Pitts it looks great from the outside once you move in it’s the Pitts something every day is falling apart y oh yes you get patch work no replacements me ceiling looks like it might fall within a matter of time my refrigerator sings all night my stove won’t come clean the floors are the so uneven that in each room especially the kitchen the door are always falling off and none of the doors are attractive because their uneven missing hardware dented up knobs and the bath tub have some type of grit at the bottom of it no matter how you clean it the stove well it won’t clean no matter what the bedroom window have a leak I can go on on if I could I would crown McKinley King Queen of SLUM LANDLORD
Experiencia fantástica: I have lived at one of the Mckinley apartment communities for a year and have nothing but wonderful things to say about the community and the management. Maintenance is prompt with all requests and makes sure any issues are taken care of. The grounds are well maintained in all seasons, and the management (shout-out to Gemma who is the BEST community manager I have ever rented from!) stays in communication constantly regarding all community needs. They have even been super generous during the current pandemic, offering all tenants different options to help ease the financial burden that many are experiencing, such as rent discounts with timely payments, eliminating fees for credit card payments, etc. If you are looking for a well-maintained, comfortable place to live, look no further!

HUD tells you to call corporate for complaints, yet the voicemail of the corporate office is full! Between mice coming through the vents leaving dropping’s everywhere or ants coming through tiny holes in the walls,crawling on the floor and kitchen counters,this is a very uncomfortable living situation. I have a curious one-year-old crawling around and putting things in his mouth and I’m scared he will consume the wrong thing one of these days. I have been more than patient with management about these reoccurring issues and it’s becoming very frustrating. I refuse to keep paying rent at a place with substandard living conditions. HUD should be more diligent and start investigating McKinley’s properties.

Experiencia negativa: My experience of McKinley is that it is really clear from the corporate level that the communities are not to spend any money for upgrades, appropriate snow removal services, or staff training. I cannot fault the staff. It's really obvious that the McKinley system is based on the philosophy "We don't spend money." I can't imagine that the employees are very happy. It doesn't appear that the managers have authority to do what really needs to be done. The rents are expensive and in a town like Ann Arbor, MI where housing is always tight, I guess they can keep the buildings full. But is this really the reputation that one of the Regents of the University of Michigan wants for the company he founded? In the same town where Zingerman's provides such excellent customer service and the staff could go through Zing Training? Sadly, all the customer service training in the world won't do much if corporate doesn't give each property what it needs to provide top-notch service. I like my apartment and its location. My neighbors are nice. This could be an outstanding property given the resources it requires for staff and upgrades.

Its sad that a company that makes 500 million average a year can't afford to put salt buckets where they make sense. I have 3 elderly lady's on my(1st) floor. I don't know what happened but the quality here is trash. Snow plow, May as well be a mythical creature. I do more shoveling then I see there maintenance do. Is it our issue the complex stupidly fired there maintenance crew before snow season I think not. Used to love living here now I cant wait for my lease to be over. We pay for services they struggle to pprovide do your parents and grandparents favors don't entrust there well being to a McKinley operated complex. I also love how they fight with elderly residents because they don't want to fall and be hurt on the ramp and handicap parking areas they provide. The last two snow seasons this complex has gone dreadfully down the wrong path. Not like anyone reading the reviews will do anything besides laugh and probably shrug it off. Key to success is your consumers.

I recently had issues on my ledger where I paid a $500 dollar deposit that was never applied to the system as a deposit. In addition to that I paid a holding fee of $100 dollars that was never applied to my rent however sat on my account in the system as a application fee when they waived my $40 dollar application fee Tried speaking with them about this matter they continued to avoid me and only speak with me VIA email and the day i do try to speak with the manger he is rude and tried to force me out of my lease why is it that Mckinley is still in business and no one has got a lawsuit against them. They do not need to be in business they are all about money and not about the community they should not be allowed they have horrible reviews in every city. I wish I did my research before moving in The Courts they stole money from me not once but twice and is trying to force me to clean up there mess. I even reached out to there headquarters and they only ignore me the whole time and act as if they do not see me calling them.

Lady above me has like 8 or 9 people in a 2 bedroom. Lady across from her has 2kids and 6 pets ( 4 cats 2 dogs) and spraying one apartment in building isnt helping. For some reason carpet in 2nd (my kids room) bedroom is wet. So mildew and mold is growing in there. We're leaving if problem isn't fixed today. My kids are 1and 2 and im currently 7 months pregnant we cant breathe that stuff in. Its dangerous. Also can't have pests crawling on my children. Rent money will be in escrow account till everything is fixed. We pay 850 plus that bill that comes with the rent which is almost 920 most months. We pay too much for the problems we are having. Im calling around to see what i can do legally. My kids get sick, you guys will have to deal with a very pissed of mother of 2 and a half children and it wont be pretty wether its legally or verbally to get these things fixed. Ill go above corporate and call bbb. You only have till 5 to fix problem or im calling in the morning.

My partner and I have lived in The Villas just under 5 months and the main door to our apartment building has been broken at least once a month. Maintenance takes over a week to get to your problems and even then doesn't reach out to you to see how they did or even give you a call to let you know when they will be out to fix items. Honestly avoid McKinley if at all possible. They are just trying to get every penny out of you that they can.

Experiencia negativa: I live in Savannah apartments in Gainesville, Fl. I have been trying to reach the corporate office for days now without success. I have only lived in Savannah for 6 months and had my vehicle broken into twice as well as watched numerous times as cops have arrived after a motorcycle was stolen or other car was broken into. This community is not safe and they do not care about their residents. The corporation is unethical and are not willing to even go as far as to follow their own lease agreement of which I found someone to take over my apartment as part of my lease and the leasing agent offered them a better special and took them right out from under me. I have a disability and do not feel safe in the community. Do not move into a McKinley property! You will not have access to call or contact them if you need help! They will not answer. The front office where I live refused to disclose information to me at all about the corporate office as if they were hiding something from their residents.
Experiencia negativa: This is a horrible company, I signed a new lease with the contingency of a whole lot of repairs and then they never did any repairs and refused to do them. I agreed to move out instead of suing and then they put a $2500 collection on me so I am going to litigate.
Experiencia fantástica: I have lived at three McKinley properties and found he attentiveness of the staff, maintenance and management to be worlds ahead of other non-mckinley properties that I have lived at in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. When I was 8 months pregnant and our AC went out they sent someone out on a Saturday evening and treated it like an emergency. All of our maintenance issues were addressed same day. Contrary to what other reviews are saying, I honestly love living with McKinley. In fact, I loved it so much I decided to work for them and can honestly say that when I decided to go back to work after my son was born I chose to work for them because they exemplify the values that I strive for in my own life, and the things that are important to me. My entire experience of the was overwhelmingly positive as a resident and so far as an employee as well. Our residents are the reason we even have a job and we take it seriously. To address some of the complaints that I read below: Rental rates do change without notice during the busy season (this is not a lie) when you move in you don't pay your water/trash sewer bill for two months, so you have a balance when you move out. If you don't provide a forwarding address it makes it hard to get any refund checks or mail you a bill. I have even heard this in my own work with McKinley and I makes me crazy, the person who can help you get your deposit is a real human being who takes lunches and gets sick; and even has to talk on the phone or in person with other people who view their issue just as important as yours. We do not avoid anyone that I have seen and respond to all phone calls and emails in the order they are received to be fair. And there are sometimes issues that cannot be immediately resolved and require a fair amount of research. If you moved out two years ago and you're trying to figure out what your past due amount is or why you can't get a landlord reference or whatever the case maybe it does require quite a bit of research for somebody on our end, and unfortunately if court proceedings were filed for an eviction for nonpayment of rent no matter how much you would like us to make it go away we can't make it go away. It's a public record at that point. There are always going to be limitations in customer service delivery, but I genuinely feel that McKinley does care about its residents and at no point in my training have I ever been told by any manager or coworker to ignore the needs of my residents. I have been trained to go above and beyond to take care of my residents and to do everything reasonably within my power to make sure they know that we are invested in them.

I was told in an email to had to sign a promise to pay for an amount I didn't have on my NWP bill, mine said $156, they said "sorry, it's actually $850" They told me if I signed something I wouldn't be taken to court. I refused to sign so they added $173 in court fees for filing against me. Blackmail? Yeah I've been a tenant for 3 1/2 years. I'm leaving after this lease is up. Wonder when a good lawyer will investigate this.
Experiencia negativa: BEWARE! These folks state one rental price then increase it without any notice before you have the opportunity to sign the paperwork. We were quoted a monthly rental rate and NEVER told it was for a limited time. Two days later when we had made a decision it was increased. As an explanation, the sales associate actually said they never know when the rates will increase. As a salesperson, I know this cannot be the case. This is outrageous and I can't believe they get away with it. Unacceptable and poor business model.
