Experiencia negativa: I live in the Smoketree Subdivision under HRW management. I received a violation letter regarding straw on my roof during the fall. I was given 30 days to cleaned my roof. It was cleaned day 29. I received a second violation letter showing pictures of my roof day 27. I called numerous times to speak with HRW representative to no avail. Finally I get an email that reads” I have received your customer care ticket regarding your violation. The violation has been closed. I am not sure why you would have received two like that. Unfortunately, we do not control the mail and the rate in which it’s is received” (What does the mail have to do with them rechecking my house on the 27th day?) After checking with numerous neighbors who had straw on their roof and did not receive a violation letter dated as my letter, I felt that my rights were violated. The second letter was in violation of their own rules The HOA president does not comply with the rules and it targets some homeowners.

Experiencia negativa: Not a great experience. I sent a check to pay for HOA fees. Then I received a very delayed letter which stated my bank had refused the check. My bank has no records of this refusal. I contacted Associa and they opened a query. Which was good but then sent me a quick email 5 days later saying the check was not accepted and then closed the query without giving me a chance to ask any questions. It may not be anyone’s fault at Associa, this has yet to be determined as I have not fully got to the bottom of this, but the lack of clarity and communication is disappointing.

Experiencia negativa: Applied for an addition to my home, it was approved, this issue was the lack of communication or understanding. The customer service was cold and ignored concerns. Instead of explaining anything, sent a PDF of the bylaws, completely blowing me off. This happened two more times during the process. Not only that, but they had us paying a lawn company that didn't do landscaping work for two years. If the company isn't managing the neighborhood, why pay a company to do nothing?

Experiencia negativa: Caveat Emptor — Buyer Beware If you looked up the meaning of this phrase, it should say: Associa, Associa HRW, and CAMS — which, by the way, are all the same company. Associa’s motto is: “Delivering unsurpassed management and lifestyle services to communities worldwide.” The only truth in that statement is that Associa, the parent company of HRW and CAMS is located in Canada. Let me caution you: if you're considering them for HOA management, do not believe anything they say. They excel at selling their company and services, but the actual service is the worst I’ve ever experienced as a board member. The level of community manager ineptitude is truly mind-blowing — so egregious that it’s hard to find the words to fully describe it. The company boasts a dedicated financial department, yet monthly financial reports were always 30 days late, inaccurate, and the company showed no effort to collect on delinquent accounts. I have no idea what the community manager’s responsibilities actually were, because not a single project was coordinated by them. The board had to do all the heavy lifting, and even then, the manager couldn't handle basic follow-up tasks. The manager regularly fumbled through papers during board meetings, couldn’t answer questions, made excuse after excuse, always deflecting and — when confronted — had the audacity to blame the board for their failures. Their compliance department is a joke. I don’t believe the community manager or the compliance officer ever read the covenants or rules and regulations, because blatant violations were never addressed. When the board identified these violations, there was still no follow-up. Even after escalating our concerns all the way up to the president of Associa in Canada, we were met with nothing but more excuses. In the end, we had no choice but to hire an attorney to escape this nightmare. One star doesn’t do these companies justice. They deserve a -10.

Experiencia negativa: I have lived in several communities that were run by HOA / Property Management companies and HRW has been the absolute worst one. We have had so many issues and miscommunications with these people. I have been to the office a couple of times, and last week I went to the office to ask a simple question and was told by the receptionist that our community is not serviced by this company, she couldn’t find our community on the list, and she looks so confused that I just ended up leaving. I just had a simple question to ask and I was out running errands and figured I’d stop by..but that was a big mistake. Also, I was in email communication with one of the employees there regarding use of the clubhouse and I needed to have a voice to voice conversation with her. So I called the number listed on her email and asked for the extension and was told that they have some type of system that wouldn’t allow her to transfer my call to this lady. Instead, she had to send an email to the lady to have her call me. I will say that this particular employee, Debbie Summers, was very quick to respond to me and very helpful. Finally, as I stated earlier, I have lived in several HOA run communities and understand the rules that apply. The grass that was planted when some of these homes were built is just “bad grass”. Other homes have a better grade of grass. However. this community is so anal about weeds that every week someone rides around and takes pictures of people‘s gras. It could be half an inch of a weed and you get a letter. Most of the people in this community work Monday through Friday, So if you don’t have it done by Friday night, you’re going to get a letter. This has happened to so many of my neighbors and it’s so ridiculous. All of us are very proud of our homes and keep our lawns up and it’s just ridiculousness! To sum it up, this is the most unprofessional, poorly run community management company I’ve ever had to deal with. I’m glad other reviewers have not had these issues.

I gave an overall score of 4 STARS because I'm the type of gal that does everything online. HRW could greatly improve their customer experience by adding a few small features to the app and website, like the ability to access statements, the ability to submit, view, and modify architecture requests, the ability to access the HOA contract, etc. Very simple things that can make a huge difference.

Experiencia negativa: As a homeowner in a community managed by this HOA, I’ve experienced repeated delays and resistance when requesting access to basic financial records like bank statements. While they’ve provided some general documents required by law, they’ve refused to share actual transaction-level details without charging high hourly fees, despite these records being directly tied to how our dues are being spent. Transparency and communication are critical in an HOA, and unfortunately, both have been lacking here. I hope they begin prioritizing homeowner rights and accountability moving forward.

Experiencia negativa: HRW is a complete failure as an HOA management company for Braxton Village in Hope Mills, NC. Requests from homeowners for information are ignored. The community amenities are not maintained and when homeowners complain, petty citations for ridiculous infractions are sent out from HRW to homeowners. The capital and reserve accounts in the budget are not accounted for and questions about this financial discrepancy are ignored.

Experiencia negativa: This company runs the HOA for my neighborhood. Ashley Jackson from this company mailed me an empty pool key twice (I got flat envelopes twice and took a video for evidence second time) and still charged me for both.Now is refusing to mail a third and says I have to go to Raleigh to pick it up in person. I asked if they could remail it and just take a video or picture of them actually putting it into the envelope as proof or just come personally drop it off in my mailbox since it’s negligence on their end but they continue to ignore me and deny accountability. Not sure why someone would be trying to steal a pool key but additionally I haven’t been given any explanation as to what happened to the other keys as they were still activated although I never received them. Contacted support regarding this which they never followed back up on either. I tried contacting the support line to escalate the situation further but they simply say a manager will call you back but they never do. It is now halfway through the pool season and I still do not have a pool key despite going back and forth with this company for weeks, paying monthly HOA fees which only continue to rise despite nothing being improved, and being charged for multiple keys that I never got. Avoid this company at all costs they are a nightmare to work with and lack any sort of integrity or accountability for their actions.

Experiencia fantástica: Our Summit Holly Glen Community has been waiting for our Gutters to be cleaned and a Schedule for Termite Control Inspection, and Mulch put down. The weather has been filling our gutters with Fall Leaves,, Pine Needles, Pollen parts of the surrounding trees. The gutters are so full the rain is pouring over the top and coming out of the seams of the gutters. WE have had no communication with our elected HOA Board since last December.
