The application process was easy, their team is responsive any time we need anything, they stay up to date with regular maintenance, they shovel and salt in a timely manner when it snows, and they have an easy-to-use online portal for paying rent, requesting maintenance and many other pertinent functions to renting. Overall a beyond satisfactory experience!

As you know with online ordering, sometimes addresses get saved on websites. Unknown to myself, I sent a higher value package to an address I lived at four years prior (an hour from my current address). I contacted the office, and Tom instantly began to remedy the situation. He took the time out of his day to personally drive over to the apartment and receive the package. In no way was he responsible For my screwup. I wasn’t Expecting to ever see the package again. While we lived there in Shadyside, we didn’t have one bad experience with John CR Kelly. They were always professional And extremely responsive To any situation that arose. The apartment was updated, clean and well maintained. I’m on my fifth apartment in 7 years and I can honestly say they are among the best. Thanks again Tom Loughran!

I feel very safe, the property is well taken care of, and the management team is top notch. All service tickets are responded to the same day or next, the staff is extremely friendly and communicative. This is one of those teams where you can tell they really care about the tenants and quality of life. The residents are friendly and respectful and the location is perfect for suburban living with easy city access. Barely any traffic from 279 to the city. Love it here and would recommend to anyone.

Experiencia negativa: Apart from providing a property that was filthy and not up to code, when my daughter's lease ended, they withheld $175 of her security deposit due to lawn care. Everything they instructed us to do was followed, and we provided pictures to prove it. We were told by 2 different "supervisors" that it was a misunderstanding and a full refund would be given. That never happened and we were basically told to stop calling. Can't get much more slimy than stealing money from students.

Experiencia negativa: They refused my co-signer because I have income , even though I am a student and they do accept co-signers for students with no income which makes no sense. I applied with a co signer and they didn’t run the application for the cosigner and never let me know that they weren’t. I had to ask why they never got a copy of their background check and only after they ran my application did they tell me that they weren’t running my co signers. As soon as I applied and viewed the apartment I wanted I hear no response for nearly a week. I had to constantly ask for an update and it took them 5 days just to run my application and deny me. Can’t say for sure but the entire toned changed once I met with them in person and they saw that I was black. From that point the line of communication pretty much went dead on their end and it was just me reaching out with late or no response. It was a very big inconvenience to my apartment searching process by applying here. My reps name was Sammy .

When my boyfriend called the owner threatened to evict us at the slightest wrong doing and said we can’t co-sign if we aren’t students. Terrible company to even try to do business with. Waste of my time and all of our money. Both of us paid the application fee and so did both co-signers. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND ENERGY.

My building has always been clean and well-kept, with no utility interruptions. The unit that I moved into was clean upon move-in. The unit is not perfect, but is exactly what I need to be comfortable and feel safe in a student apartment in a price point that I consider reasonable. Patrick and his maintenance team have always been very quick to respond to any personal service requests that I submit, which has been very convenient. I have had a great experience overall and have renewed my lease for the next year due to my positive experiences.

Patrick Kelly— the boss’s nephew—will tell you “Don’t FXXKing call me on Sunday or I’ll kick you out of the apartment”, nothing like when he was sending you the lease “Call me anytime when you need me”. Seems like Patrick has been working on his reviews recently, good for you Patrick, tired of being an grumpy trust fund baby and trying to grow up a little bit?

Had a fair rent which I thought was because it was rough around the edges but didn’t expect to get charged for pre existing damage when I moved out.

Experiencia fantástica: Bellwood Manor is clean, safe and quiet. Renee, the onsite property manager, coordinates with Patty and Don to keep property in outstanding condition. The units are large and have a lot of storage, and there is plenty of parking. The unit I occupy was spotless when I moved in, and rarely have I had a maintenance request. This is an ideal place for parents of school-age children or older, working adults. Tom in the main office is skilled at helping residents navigate the online portal. He and the onsite folks are terrific. If you are loud and want to party, this is not the place for you. I've been here for three years and it feels like a community.

I was renting an apartment in a building that had 3 other units and the tenant living in the unit below mine would slam doors and pound on the plumbing around midnight as a terrible joke to disturb me from my sleep. He made a few attempts on my cats life by beating on it. I was being harassed by this tenant and management would not give me any support. What they did was make it even harder on me by wanting in my apartment to do renovations while I was at work. I wouldn't agree to this but they insisted. I ended up breaking the lease and moving after 8 months into the yearly lease.

Today in particular, the deadbolt lock failed and i was locked out. I was told it would be over an hour wait. However, Patrick the head of facilities came out personally and took care of my issue. I never ever felt unsafe! Laundry room was always available and In working condition. Twice I had a maintenance request and they had someone out the next day! They take good care of the property and snow removal! I never had a problem with my neighbors, everyone I met were always super friendly! Very quiet setting, definitely felt like coming home every night! Nice parking space and gazebo to relax at night! Disorganized, let us tour a unit for a June move in date and the tenants did not move out until July, which made us push back our move in date. Should have never been listed if they were not sure of their move out date. That is just the beginning: do not recommend. When I contacted them about the HVAC issues numerous times, they seemed inconvenienced and cheap. They did not want to call a service man on a weekend. They also did the BARE minimum and were so lazy they never wanted to come and check out the problem. Always a phone call with directions for us to fix on our own. Was promised to be given a parking pass for a nearby street, never received it. When my proxy (who I told them his name and notified that he would be picking up keys) picked up my keys they did not have any keys and had the wrong name written down. Rent is way more expensive than what their properties are worth. No one at that office is professional. Absolutely do not recommend.

They are efficient, kind, and attentive to details and easy to get ahold of. I have lived in other apartments and none of them show the amount of support and commitment that this company does. The portal to pay rent, see documents (lease agreement and other documents), get maintenance, and add or see current renter’s insurance is very easy to use. I would highly recommended using their services to anyone looking.

Experiencia negativa: Nothing I submitted that was wrong with my apartment when I initially moved in has been addressed, this was 7 months ago. Management now ignores all my maintenance requests. My roof has been leaking every rainstorm. A huge chunk of it even fell from the ceiling, exploding across my floor. Luckily that was repaired. It has leaked every storm since then. Management insists they "just put on" a new roof. Well, it's still leaking so obviously it needs fixed again. It is really a shame because I love my apartment. They don't want to deal with you, even on the phone they just sound annoyed. They're slumlords who only care about your rent. Tom is a really nice guy tho. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Their prices and fair and affordable, and all of the properties that we can toured were in excellent condition. Everyone makes themselves extremely available whenever there is any problem whatsoever. Patrick will answer calls at any time in order to confirm that everything is okay, and has come down multiple times check things out whenever we have questions about anything. Experiencia negativa: How do you like not getting your deposit back? Please beware of renting any units related to this company. I once had rented a property where these guys had managed it. When I finished my lease they gave me less than 20 percent of my deposit back claiming they had to remove furniture that was not mine from my kitchen. The bad thing was the furniture was there when I first got there. They charged me a cleaning fee even though I had cleaned and vacuumed thoroughly for most of the day. When I tried to call for that issue no one answered. As well, yellow jackets were coming into the apartment and the problem persisted after they said it was corrected. They were absolutely awful.

If you decide your current place isn’t meeting your needs, they’ll prioritize you and show you units in your budget and area that will be up for lease after yours ends before they post it online to the general public to view. They are reasonably priced and the units are not dumpy! They really are great !

Experiencia negativa: I used to live in the apartments and i got charge $117 for carpet cleaning. Before i moved from that i cleaned whole house including carpet properly. I called there office and one of the staff person was so rude to me and didn't give me proper answer. The person name Tom was who was taking care of our property was so nice all the time to me but few people work over there are so disrespectful. I hope i will get a proper answer for my issue or get a refund.

Experiencia negativa: I have had 6 landlords in 3 different states and two different countries. To this day, this is still the least reputable and professional company. My favorite part was when we moved out and no one gave us any of our security deposit back and did not provide a written explanation as to why... which is technically ILLEGAL. "After termination the lease or upon surrender of the lease and acceptance by the landlord of the leasehold premises, a landlord must provide a tenant with a written list of any damages to the leasehold premises for which the landlord claims the tenant is liable. Delivery of the list shall be accompanied by payment of the difference between any sum deposited in escrow, including any unpaid interest thereon, for the payment of damages to the leasehold premises and the actual amount of damages to the leasehold premises caused by the tenant. See 68 P.S. §250.512." Don't do business with them. You deserve better.

We’ve had a few things come up over this time due to the age of the building, but everything was handled quickly (w/n 24hrs) and well by Kelly. The online portal for rent payment and maintenance requests has also been really helpful for us given work schedules. For low key and well priced apartments in Oakland I would recommend Kelly for sure.

When I had found this place and liked what I saw, paid the deposit and pet fee and all set to sign the lease, my daughter had asked me to move in and help with my grandchildren. I couldn't say "no" to help her out and be with my grand babies. So I called the Realty and told them I couldn't take it and they said they would refund my deposit. That made me so happy that I dealt with a great, caring company. If you need a good place, check them out, it's a great quiet place to live

Experiencia positiva: Been living at the 1860 Brett Street apartment building for a year now and really like it. Price is fair and the building seems pretty well taken care of. Also, pretty quiet building for the most part. Lastly, I like that it's easy to pay rent online via the tenant portal on the website, and everyone I met at the office - Bill, Molly, and Tom - has always been really nice and helpful. Update: Subtracting one star because I've had five (5) different packages stolen that were tracked as delivered but they refuse to install security cameras in entryway

Experiencia fantástica: Me and my boyfriend are moving into an apartment together for the first time and we were very happy with the responsiveness and helpfulness of Patrick! He kept us updated the whole time and made the process of applying very easy and the apartment buildings we saw were kept up nicely and clean!

Experiencia negativa: I really wanted to rent the house that Patrick Kelly showed me. It had everything that I wanted and it was in the right area and price range. We arranged to meet for a showing and he was late for the showing. He said it was due to traffic. I get it; I used to live in Swissvale and it was rush hour. I let that pass. After the showing, I completed my application and paid my application fee. I got another email asking me to complete another application - apparently, he had planned to show me two units, but didn’t because “the appointment ran long”. It didn’t. I was on time; Patrick was late. When I asked for an explanation, Patrick told me he would call me the next day. He didn’t. I followed up via phone and we spoke the following day. I was told that he would get back to me later on in the day on Thursday. I heard nothing. I followed up via email again. I received another email promising a telephone call on Friday to discuss my application. Friday came and went with no response. Saturday morning, I reached out again. I got an email at midnight thanking me for my patience and promising a follow up call the next day. Finally, on Sunday, I threatened to pull my application. Again, I received another late night email that promised a phone call that never came and I pulled my application. If this agency is this unresponsive with prospective tenants, I shudder to think what they would be like with an emergency or repairs as a tenant. Landlords are interviewing you, but you are also interviewing them. I don’t recommend Patrick Kelly. His professionalism is severely lacking.

Experiencia fantástica: I’m a current resident at Four seasons over in Plum under John C R Kelly Realty! I have a 1 BR apartment and have been here since August 2020. For what you get and the amenities, the price is fair. I’m very pleased with this neighborhood and landlord. If you have an issue, they come right away. They been great, patient, and awesome. No issues with other neighbors. Maintenance has been great too. Very respectful and helpful especially during a pandemic! I appreciate the help and the quality that maintenance and John C. R. Kelly has provided me! Laundry room is always clean and available. Everyone’s been friendly. I have enjoyed my time here and Tom was right that I would enjoy this apartment. I want to continue being a tenant under John C. R. Kelly with the apartment I have been in at the Four seasons! A few minutes away from Monroeville is convenient and I enjoy that it is its own neighborhood, there’s never any issues going on. Don’t hesitate to check John C. R. Kelly and try them out as a Landlord! Thank you again Tom for making this an awesome apartment and everyone at John C. R. Kelly for being great and caring!

Experiencia fantástica: My girlfriend and I arrived back at our apartment around 8:30PM after a two hour drive back to Pittsburgh. After getting out of the car, we both immediately realized that we had forgotten our keys to the apartment. We called the JCR Kelly office and we immediately got in contact with Robert Kelly who drove over to our apartment and unlocked the place for us, even supplying us with a spare key. I don't know what we would have done without his help.

Experiencia fantástica: I have lived in one of their apartments for 3 years now. I actually moved from a one bedroom to a two bedroom. I wanted to stay here because the price is right for what you get. My favorite part is that the heat is gas and is included in the rent, so I the only utility I have to pay is electricity. Also, I have never had an issue with the landlords.

Experiencia negativa: I’ve rent for three years from these people. Not once have I had a pleasant encounter with the property manger or landlord. I’ve only spoken to the landlord once was very rude and unprofessional. Didn’t want to hear why I’m moving and not staying another year. All he cares about is $$$$$$. The first year I moved in I have gotten an emotional support animal. I was told by the property manger we have these properties in Pittsburgh trying to get me to a different property which is illegal. Then I start getting calls your cat is in the window no one can see him thats also illegal l. I’ve had to contact fair housing so many times do to the treatment I was getting from having an emotional support animal. So if you have an emotional support or service animal don’t rent from these people you’ll just get rude conversations. On top of that I had black mold, they wouldn’t do anything so I had to bleach it. I was told by the property manger it’s cause I don’t move my furniture around enough which is not true. Then I had yellow jackets come into my apartment with two cats. I killed over 30 of them. No one cared about me or my animals. They just say it happens. I’ve asked 3 years ago for the windows to be sealed correctly. I was told they were fine. Clearly not since yellow jackets got into my apartment. The building isn’t well maintained. Bugs at the entrance of the doors. Scuff marks on the walls. The hand railings are lose. I’ve had fell on a drain in the laundry room where the tile had been missing for months. It took my fall for them to but title there to fix it. I was even told by the property manger they don’t own the washer and dryers they rent them. Every year rent goes up no matter what. And my last concern is I paid a full months of rent I’m moving out 13 days early refuse to do the right thing and give me some of the rent back how unprofessional. I was told by the property manger it was your choice to move. Update they will call you and want you to explain your review they don’t apologize or try to make things right. Just deny. Update 11/6 I moved out of my place two weeks ago. No one had contacted me about my security deposit. Shady and unprofessional. Update 12/27 I called the office and asked for a copy of the carpet cleaning receipt and what “ damages” were done by my ESAs I was told no problem over two weeks ago. They are with holding $100 without any reason. The property manger when she walked through said the apartment was in good condition and didn’t see any animal damages. They will lie to you to keep as much money as possible and will not provide receipts for anything or list the apparent damages. That I was told during the final walkthrough didn’t exist. Do not rent from these people they lie and no problem saying that you lie.

Experiencia positiva: Tom was very professional to deal with. Landlord was available when needed and apartment itself was great. Unfortunately the neighbors were awful but that isn't really the landlords fault. Very good value property on a beautiful road. Their online portal is amazing it makes rental payments, maintenance requests, and queries very very easy to deal with!

Experiencia fantástica: I've have been living in one of John C.R. Kelly's units for a little over a year now. Every time I put in a request they are always extremely polite and prompt to fix the issue. I have even had a number of the employees give me their personal numbers to ensure that the issues are fixed promptly. Patrick and Gloria were were friendly and prompt to fix and issue I was having in my kitchen this evening. Jim and Bob are always extremely nice and quick to fix any issues I call about. I was nervous to live in a building with so many units and tenants because I was worried my issues would be overlooked. However, this is not the case. For as long as I'm renting in Pittsburgh I'll be renting with John CR Kelly.

Experiencia negativa: !!!!!!Do Not Rent With JCR Kelly!!!!!! They are the definition of slum lords. I lived in a JCR Kelly owned house on Chesterfield for 2 years 2018-20. We had issues since day one. They did not clean the house prior to move in, though they said they would. There were multiple safety issues with the house, including the steep front steps that crumbled when you walked on them leading to at least one injury. JCR Kelly refused to fix the steps and other safety concerns until my roommates and I got the city housing authority involved. The house was so unsafe the city inspectors condemned the house. Even after the house was condemned JCR Kelly took three months to fix the multiple issues. However they still did not fix the dangerous front steps. When we moved out (after all the renovations they did) the house was infested with millipedes, the roof has multiple leaks, the basement flooded almost every time it rained, and the front steps were a pile of loose concrete. My roommates and I also discovered the water bill they were sending us (over $500 every 3 months) did not match the water meter number in our basement. When we called the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer authority they had no idea what was going on and told us JCR Kelly was not on the deed for the house or on the water bill. I know of many different JCR Kelly renters that have been f***ed over by them. Just ask around, you are bound to hear some crazy stories. JCR Kelly rents to low income students and workers knowing that they cannot afford the legal fees they would need to pay to sue them. They actively leach as much money from their tenants with high rents and utility bills while spending little to no money on maintenance and up keep

Experiencia fantástica: I moved into one of their Squirrel Hill apartments back in May and haven't had any problems since. Had an issue with some broken glass? Fixed. Sink was leaking? New P-drain. Stove smelled like gas? New stove. Tom, Patrick and Jim are several of the nicest rental/maintenance people I've dealt with in the past. Very happy with the price, management and location.

Rent has always been very affordable which helped make getting started much easier as well as possible to save for a rainy day. Any time repairs were needed, they were made immediately. Absolutely exploitative, took money from us at every turn, was extremely rude at every interaction, and for repairs would send folks to make 'temporary fixes' instead of replacing faulty units. The manager was so abrasive and aggressive in the discussion of renewing our lease, i have never been spoke to that way. After leaving the house completely clean, they refused to return the security deposit due to 'carpet damage'. Would absolutely recommend folks to look for any other leasing office over them, even though they have a near monopoly over property near campuses in Pittsburgh

Experiencia negativa: Very bad rental company. I have lived here for three years so believe me when I say, they just care about your money. The rent is too high for the quality they give you. Apartment is tiny and they don’t update. Office workers are rude as well. I had a few terrible experiences. It’s very hard to get out of a lease if you want to move as well. They try to lock you. Be Leary folks. Just start working on your credit to own your home! It’s not worth the hassle.

After leaving the house in great condition, they charged me almost 250 dollars to clean the carpet which is outrageous. Then they charged me 230 dollars for a water bill they said, "I didn't pay" but I paid. They stole 230 from my deposit, which is criminal. Let me say that again! They illegally took 230 dollars out of my deposit lying saying that we didn't pay a bill that we did. We have the records to prove this in courts... you pos!

Experiencia negativa: I live in one of their town houses. The office is completely rude and unprofessional. They don’t fix anything when you have a maintenance request, they just do a “quick fix” which will have you calling for the same reason within a few months. Then they get an attitude as if it’s your fault they didn’t fix it correctly. I am currently putting my rent into an escrow account. I do not recommend anyone to rent from them. When I asked the name of the man that was rude to me he was adamant on not telling me his name and then hung up on me.

They’re very hard to work with, because they’re such a large organization whose customers are the wealthy property owners and NOT their tenants. Nobody can edit the lease, in spite of several clauses that are against state and local laws. They never do maintenance, they’ll leave unabated mold and water issues in children’s bedrooms, and their workers show up without legal notice. They will do as little work as possible to make their properties the minimum acceptable product. They do not return their security deposits in a timely manner, another right under state law. They will ask people to leave positive google reviews in exchange for getting their full deposit back, or getting some lease concession, so you must take the five star reviews with a huge grain of salt.

They're always very prompt at fixing things on the rare event that I need them, and have always been very helpful when I contact them for assistance. Patrick in particular stands out, and has always gone above and beyond to help me, even on short notice. I really couldn't ask for a better realty company.

Tom L. in particular has helped me a great deal and is always responsive to any questions I have. When I first moved in, I mentioned that I had a friend who lived in the same apartment a few years ago, and had recommended it to me. He immediately remembered her name and when she rented with them. It is clear he is invested in the work he does, and goes above and beyond for his tenants. Would definitely recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: Rented from John CR Kelly for two years, going on my third. They have been helpful in accommodating to move in dates and to attending to any maintenance issue that arose during my time living in their property. Their yearly rent increase is fair.
