Experiencia negativa: Everything seemed fine in the beginning — until I told Matt Sargent no. I was selling my home and had over $50,000 worth of commercial-grade equipment that Matt tried to lowball me on, offering just $5,000. When I refused, his entire demeanor changed. That’s when the gaslighting, disrespect, and shady tactics began. Matt promised me in writing (yes, I have the texts) that I would walk away with $200,000 net from the sale. He even said, “If we’re only $10K apart, I’ll split it with you.” That written statement is what made me feel secure enough to move forward with the sale. But when it came time to close, I was shorted over $13,000. When I questioned the missing money, instead of honoring his word, he threw blame, made excuses, and tried to pin the problem on me. He claimed I gave the wrong numbers — but it’s the realtor’s job to confirm financials with the escrow officer. Melissa, the escrow officer, kindly confirmed that even if I had paid my July mortgage, I still would have been shorted the $5,000 Matt promised. Worse? He became demeaning, dismissive, and rude — especially after I began holding him accountable. As a Black woman, I refuse to accept being talked down to or manipulated because someone assumes I won’t stand up for myself. Matt Sargent will say whatever he needs to get a deal done — even if it means misleading you, making promises he won’t keep, and then blaming you when the truth comes out. This was unethical, unprofessional, and deeply disappointing. I have full documentation of everything stated here — screenshots, settlement statements, and texts. I would absolutely share it with anyone who asks. Do not trust this agent with your sale. Protect your money, your peace, and your dignity — go with someone who respects you and values their word.
