Negative experience: If I could give negative stars I would. Ive been a resident in a home of theirs since August 2025. And this home is complete health and saftey hazard. When we first moved in we found a asbestos in our vents. There's mice that come in and out if our home and leave their feces everywhere. There's no restroom fan or window so the poor ventilation im sure causes mold, this rental company also rejected doing a mildew test on the house. And the worse of it all is there's OLD ancient dog feces covering the floor of the crawl space in our laundry room!!!!!! This rental company has DISGUSTING housing. I will never be renting from them after this again. Filth! And inhabitable to live in. Tell me why I went my whole life without any health problems and after living in this bio hazardous home now I have high blood pressure and liver problems. Do not rent from them. Absolutely disgusting people.

Negative experience: 0 stars. My family was tricked into renting a house infested with mold. We moved out and hoped they would fix it and it's now listed again in the same condition. They will use every tactic they have to try to scare you and intimidate you so you won't pursue action against them.

Negative experience: Such a trash company that does not hold themselves accountable for anything at all. All they want to do is collect your money and move on about their day. They won't come in and remove the massive squirrels nest in your attic or take care of the tree out front that is falling on vehicles and causing hundreds of dollars in damage. STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. Our town home we have been renting (since Aug. 1st 2024) is filled with mold . We were warned about a possible mold issue by a previous tenant who we ran into which prompted us to do some at home mold test. Shockingly (no one was shocked) all of the mold test we did had mold growth. Around this time my partner and I started getting physically sick as well as the fact that our cat would eventually pass away even though the vets said physically he was fine. When the issue was first addressed it took 2 months to get the issue completely “resolved” but resolving it involved re popcorning the bathroom ceiling and sending in some dad and son team (no hate to them) to “clean out” the air ducts. Thinking about it after the fact that is definitely not how you get rid of mold but we were told that the issue was fixed. We went on from there and at this point it was winter humidity and we were feeling a tad bit better but when spring came around so did the feeling of being sick again as well as our cats health rapidly declining. He declined so quickly we unfortunately had to make the decision to put down our best friend. While trying to find answers to his mystery illness we came across the possibility of toxic mold exposure which again prompted us to do more mold test which came back with even more mold growth most of it black. As of now we have put in a high urgency maintenance request on 6/10 and have reached out to the renters portal on 6/12 to inform them we will be moving out of the property until something happens (there is a LOT that has to happen) Sadly this is only one problem amongst others that has happened while renting here which has been a big disappointment.

Negative experience: DO NOT RENT FROM THESE SCAMMERS!!! If I could give them negative stars I would... Paid deposit + first AND last months rent, had to break lease early and manager refused to give my last months rent back which is REQUIRED BY LAW in the state of Missouri (unit was in Missouri, therefore subject to Missouri law) This company is a bunch of scamming crooks. Do NOT rent from PMI they will take advantage of everything and everyone they can!

Negative experience: I cannot give no Stars or there would be none. Our family has been actively searching for a more affordable house to live in. We thought we found the perfect place with PMI. Wrong!! The moment this home was available to view we scheduled to view that day. Liked the home, went home started the apps. We had them completed by the next morning. I reached out to the company via phone, through Zillow and lastly through text to inquire how their process worked because I saw there was an application in progress already No answer to that question in any form. I did receive a text that said to have the other 2 family members hurry up and complete their apps then one that said that we would now process the app. No response for a day then a this home has been rented you have 30 days to move application to another home. No response ever to if I would waste my $150 applying for the home I wanted because there was an application for it pending. No where on website did it state we process in order received, no communication to state there was already an application in progress. They didn't have another home I wanted. 2 weeks later, I try to reach out to "settle" for one other property they had that would work, but really was not that interested in. I reached out again 2x via phone and text. I was told I would be contacted 2 different times, No Response from anyone! I originally requested a refund off of my $150 submission because I never got a response in the first place about the process, only a solicitation for the other 2 applications to be submitted. Is every company out there really this money hungry that they have to treat hard working families looking for a home this way?

Negative experience: They are absolutely horrible at communication, I am extremely glad we ended up with a company who meets you in person, responds to any of your inquiries, and has the manpower to actually respond to those questions. I applied for one of PMI's properties and it took them over a month to get back to me with any information regarding it. Either they are an unprofessional group or an extremely lazy group of individuals. I wonder how long it takes to get maintenance on site as a tenant if something needed taken care of. Glad we found a different house with a property management company that actually interacts with their tenants. I'd stay away from this group. P.S. - After posting this, I went to look at other reviews from tenants, and exactly what i was worried about with this group is occurring.

Negative experience: We were wanting to sell our current home and rent while we build in the next few years. PMI had a property listed that was in the area we wanted to build that was perfect. Submitted a request to view. No response. Called no answer. Left voicemails. No response. Even our realtor reached out about the property no response to her. It’s so unprofessional it’s astounding I can’t imagine what renting from them is like if they don’t respond to a potential renter.

Positive experience: My brother and I love this little house. It's nice, quite, safe neighborhood and close to our work. Only down fall is, there is some water pipe leaks. They did get a pipe contractor over today and fixed one leak but there is another major leak, in the main drainage line. I'm sure, it'll get fixed soon tho. So far so good

Negative experience: Pmi destination property’s is one of the worst rental companies I’ve ever dealt with it took driving from Missouri to Overland Park Kansas just to be able to ask questions about the home. We submitted applications knowing that we qualified very much for the home but where told we didn’t then when we asked after we where told that we did qualify my partner emailed him asking what went wrong and where told that we need to be professional and where selected for the way we acted how is going up to the rental office to ask concerning questions about the house and things renters should know before moving into the house? Maybe they should take there own word of advice why have a company if you can’t even respond to an email or have a actual number that connects you to the office if you can’t handle answering the phone then maybe don’t be in business this is a rental company for crying out loud. Complete waist of money, no wonder that home has been on the market since august of 2024.

Negative experience: Came across an ad on hot pads for a home for rent and sent my inquiry. Was told to apply on the site for PMI properties so I did and pay the $50 and was told I’d hear back in a week or so but still yet to hear anything back. Now the properties of market still no response and not $50. I’d say the negative reviews are worth paying attention to save your time and money.

Negative experience: Please do not give these people your money or lease from them. It is a serious waste of money and a risk to your health and safety. They are incredibly unprofessional and unresponsive, and lock up their office during business hours without notice so that tenants cannot have any way of contacting them when there is an issue. We drove 40 minutes up to the office today to speak with our “property manager” about the issues in our house because she has completely ignored our messages for the past week, and the building was locked with no sign or notice of being closed (online or otherwise). We were only able to get in because someone from IT who doesn’t even work there opened the door for us. The property managers were hiding in the back “having a meeting”. If you call them, regardless of the extension or if you are currently leasing from them, your call will immediately go to voice mail and will never be returned. They’ll tell you to message them through the resident portal to get in touch with them or submit maintenance requests, but they never respond or even read the messages through the portal either, and selectively ignore your maintenance requests. They refuse to give you a direct line to contact them. They are incredibly rude, unprofessional, and dismissive when you are able to finally speak to them by going up to their office, and take no responsibility for fulfilling their duties and obligations that are outlined in the lease. Our lease stipulates that we are renting a washer/dryer from them, but we have been in the home for 2 weeks and still haven’t been given a washer/dryer or even provided with a date when one will be made available to us. Despite the fact that we are paying to rent one. Our home has live raccoons in the attic, which we notified the property managers of this past Monday. It has been 5 days and they still have not sent pest control out to remove the animals, and have not responded to us at all when we attempt to contact them about it or get a more urgent response. When we spoke to them in person about the live raccoons scurrying around in our attic, they told us that - yes, we pay for pest control - but pest control “doesn’t cover raccoons”. So we have to live with a colony of live raccoons for over a week until they have a contractor come “assess” the issue? It is unsafe for us and our animals and they do not care at all and can’t be bothered to act with any sense of urgency. What is the point of having property managers who refuse to interact with or serve their renters? The home was in total disrepair and was filthy when we moved in, with a plethora of environmental health and safety issues, and the images on the property listing were not accurate or up to date. The kitchen was completely littered with mouse droppings, mouse nesting, and garbage (pictured here). The amount of mouse droppings in the kitchen and cabinets is completely unsafe and not okay. Rusty old nails poking up through the cabinets, doors chipping and falling apart, the chimney doesn’t close and they haven’t repaired that either. The home is literally falling apart. The property managers ignore the tenants completely and have no professional standards. They are set on violating all of your renters rights and pretending like it’s no big deal. Please live somewhere else, please give your money to someone else. We will never be renewing a lease with these people and regret ever signing it. Update: we have been in this rental for a month now and they still have not gotten us the washer/dryer (which is included in the amenities we pay for in our lease) and haven’t fixed the hole in the roof or the chimney that doesn’t close. Haven’t even provided us with a date when those things will be completed. Please stay far away

Negative experience: I started the renting process with PMI properties June 2023. The application process was smooth. I was able to get in contact and communicate with the company throughout the whole process. The issue came after I signed the lease. They told me that the house had been cleaned, but yet, it was really bad stains all on the carpet in the living room and they gave me pushback on replacing the carpet saying that it had been clean and sanitized so I politely advise that if that was the outcome after being clean and sanitized then the carpet needed to be replaced so we went back-and-forth about that then they decided to change the carpet. I had to paint the walls, fix baseboards, door trimmings paint and fix the front door because there was a hole there and get the remaining carpets clean in all of the bedrooms and hallways and replace and fix light fixtures because I had already signed the lease I was obligated to move in or lose my money so basically I had to spend more money to get it livable for me. As I’m writing this review today I don’t have any hot water for a week now some one came out but the issue was not resolved and now the only advice I received was to put in another work order because they change their systems but never completed the original work order . These people do not care about the comfort of their tenants as long as they are getting their rent money which I’ve never been late on so I will follow back up and let you know how this goes and if I get hot water by the end of the week. I would never advise or recommend anyone to rent from PMI destination properties. If you do be ready to make your own repairs and be ready to basically renovate the home before you move in.

Negative experience: My husband and I called and emailed PMI for a week trying to ask some questions and never got a single response. My husband decided to go ahead and apply for a rental and we got an email back the next day that they do not accept 6 month rentals. We paid $100 in rental applications for them to answer one simple question.

Negative experience: UPDATE: After living in a property for three years with constant issues in the basement, there is no way I could give this property management company a positive review. Currently renting from PMI and they have been awesome to rent with. The application and approval process was a bit off at the beginning due to the lack of response, but we eventually got Brooklyn to help us out! We have been renting from PMI for two years now and they are very timely if anything messes up or needs maintenance. Anytime that we have needed something fixed or replaced they have always done it. Mike from maintenance has always been awesome, I get to talk to him personally when he is fixing something at the house and is always respectful about your house and belongings. I can’t forget Corey, he always sends out helpful emails and keeps everyone up to date on outages or updates with the payment portal. Hope to keep renting from them in the long run!

Negative experience: Update: this place is Destination Properties better known as WE BUY UGLY HOUSES . Be very careful with them I lived there for 9 years and they will tell you that they will fix something and the maintenance man will try but replacement is what’s needed I moved cause they went up 700 dollars out of no where on my rent and said they would think about repairs like my gutters were all rusted out the deck had holes and they carpet was deteriorating and the doors were always broken the front door was never right I had to rig it . So I moved and the had to do a full remodel but what they didn’t do is change those rusted out gutters so the new people will be getting water down stairs also it’s a shame that they don’t take better care of there properties. But when you have so much money and your living very well all they want is more of the blue collar workers money so they can live big and oh those commercials look closer they are not live those are back grounds they don’t even live in the states. Be careful with these people don’t get to comfortable cause they may do the same thing to you. //////// They have gotten a whole lot better now that Mike has come to be the new maintenance guy. The other guy just did bandaid work on the properties inwhich caused him to have to keep coming out cause the job was never done right. The lady's in the iffice are nice but there is one that is aways on the defence. She just needs to remember that we are the customer. But Ive been renting from them for 3 years now its a nice company all and all. May god bless the company I do believe that they mean well and try to do the right thing. They charge a 65 dollar fee or so for coming out for repairs that are not preexisting from or reoccuring. I hope this helps

Negative experience: I was excited about a reasonably priced house in KC that checked a lot of the boxes for a place I was looking for. Although I was not able to talk to anyone directly - everything was automated and my questions were left unanswered before viewing the space. Upon entry the living room seemed fine and then we got to the kitchen where the cabinets were dirty at first glance and then we noticed there were cockroaches all over the floor and the REFRIGERATOR was FULL of cockroaches. Disgusting. I didn’t even look at the rest of the house. I’m guessing this company didn’t even inspect the property following the exit of the previous tenants. That’s enough for me to understand how they operate as a business. Renter BEWARE.

Negative experience: I toured the house June 12 liked the house and put in the application on June 15, then on June 19 got an email saying my application incompleted so I filled out another application which is cost me another $50. Total cost me $100 and my husband $50 for the application fee. No answer at all after 2 weeks, then I called the office someone name brand said he will send me an email in 2 days, but now it’s been almost a month still didn’t get an answer if our application approved or not. I think this company trying to get your application fee and do nothing. Terrible Terrible.

Negative experience: Scam artists at their finest. Applied for one of their properties, paid the fee, and never got any feedback on the results of the application. No inquiries were reported on my credit report several weeks later. Took my money for the application fee and did nothing afterwards. If you're looking for a place to rent, I highly suggest you avoid these scammers at all costs.

Negative experience: Went and view a house they had listed in independence today. The outside looked decent but as soon I opened the front door I was hit with the most awful smell. I took 2 steps in then had to walk out immediately. I ended up getting sick because the house smelled that bad. Absolutely unacceptable that this house is available to look at given the state of it.

Fantastic experience: Let me first start off by saying I can’t imagine a better experience a person can have with a property management company. Not only are the people there pros and extremely adept at what they do, they’re low-key lovely and kind. Their customer service skills are unparalleled. Cory was very easy to deal with regarding financial matters and put me instantly at ease. However, I can’t say enough great things about my host, Veronica. Not only was she supremely easy to deal with from before I even toured the property but she managed to help me get settled in the middle of a crazy blizzard! She was responsive and courteous and always had time to answer a text from me about, well, anything. I had to leave early because of a death in the family and Veronica was graceful and very kind to me. The space itself was odd but actually fantastic once you got used to it. The kitchen was the whole reason I took the place. I cooked every day in it! If you added up all the amenities for the place (including rent, furnishings, and utilities) that fabulous place would have cost much more. My only advice to anyone who stays there (or to PMI) is to add a detailed description about where the apartment is for delivery drivers because having an apartment on the backside of a duplex can be surprisingly confusing to those delivery people. I would recommend PMI (and especially Veronica) every day of the week to anyone coming to Kansas City. The location was absolutely perfect - I was no more than 15 minutes from any place I needed to be. Kudos to them!

Fantastic experience: We've been renting a house from PMI Destination Properties for almost a year now. Everything has been going smoothly with only minor issues that my husband took care of. The company is professional and takes emergency situations seriously. We had a drain issue, and they were able to fix it within 24 hours, although, as stated in the lease, they have 48 hours. We are very happy with our rental property and PMI Destination Properties.

Negative experience: Got approved for a home. Paid almost 3000 to get into the home. Got the keys, didn't even move in yet. Did some cleaning beforehand. Found that the house was mouse infested. Brought the stove out because there was an dog smell found dog feces behind the stove. Contacted the property management & wasn't taken serious. Asked for them to clean the home up professionally but was denied. Ended up breaking the lease due to having a small child. Did not receive any money back. Was a terrible experience.

Negative experience: BEWARE: This company is in the practice of taking applications/fees for properties that already have approved applicants. My son and daughter-in-law, were approved for a property, were told literally 45 minutes before ANOTHER family made it to the office to pay the deposit, that they needed to get the deposit to them, "first come, first serve." When asked why they would approve a family and not give that family at least 24 hours to get a deposit in before approving another family...crickets....nothing. Sounds to me like they collect all the application fees and do not care who they are hurting in the long run. LITERALLY, my son was approved first and was not given an opportunity to even get the certified check to them in a timely manner...45 minutes notice that another family was on the way, and we live 45 minutes from the office... but rest assured his application can be transferred to another property.

Hello Cristil, Applications are taken for a home until a deposit is put down. We only take deposits from approved applicants. Once approved, it is first come first serve, we only accept certified funds brought to our office for a deposit to help reduce getting scammed. This is a standard practice now a days. Daily we have applicants who are approved, who never respond to us when we reach out to let them know. Holding up the process to wait for someone who may be no longer interested or attempting a scam, creates a different situation. We are fair, firm and honest to the best of our abilities. Im sorry it didn't work out for your kids.

Negative experience: Drove two hours to view a rental in Independence, MO. Battery in the lock box was dead, so we couldn't get in. Tried calling, no answer. Left a message, no call back. Fantastic experience: They always get back as soon as a work order is submitted. I never have to wait and that is very much appreciated! My air was out for about a week, I changed the filter and everything. I finally couldn't bear with the heat any longer so I submitted a job order. Next day a professional came out and knew what the problem was and fixed it! Now my house is cooling down as it should!! Renting from PMI for over 3 years now...I have no complaints!

Fantastic experience: My AC unit stopped working on the first day of actual hot weather. They were able to fix it pretty quick and efficiently! They were communicative and very helpful. My house cooled down very quick. Thank goodness because I was sweating bullets! the fastest help I’ve received from any rental company. I used to have to pull teeth when I had other landlords in the past to come fix things. So I am very relieved. They didn’t get upset when I kinda blew them up with calls when my ac stopped working. They were very understanding. I greatly appreciate everything they did to help me cool off!

Negative experience: Been dealing with drain issues for a month just moved in 2 months ago company seems to not care. Paying 1000 dollars in rent and I can’t even use my kitchen sink or bathroom because everything is backed up. Not to mention I have kids I have to take else where to make sure they can bathe. Can’t cook in the kitchen we have to eat out. But when you’re a few days late paying rent they will be quick to post a late notice on your door but won’t come out and see about the problem themselves. To be a first time home renter this is the worst experience I’ve ever had.

Negative experience: I was never informed the property I applied for was off the market I emailed a day prior to applying to (Ryan) asking if property was available and he informed me it was, I applied that following evening next day received an email from Tenant Turner saying property was no longer on the market, My HR supervisor stated no one called her to verify my income I wasted $90 on app fees all for nothing, I was told after I reached out via email by Ryan property was rented to someone else that morning, after 141 contacts on Zillow I should have known better to apply I feel robbed emailed the Owner ( Andrea) who has not responded I do not recommend this company to anyone, they collect app fees and no other communication, its best to buy your own home

So you can make your own decisions in your situation. In this market rentals move fast. This company is almost completely ran by a computer. I'm 39 with a 13 year old son and the 1st tenant to reside at 4703 Hifner .As a lifetime renter , This is the worst experience I've ever had with a landlord The septic system is home-made. Hasn't worked since residing in the newly renovated house. Beautiful home but the lack of proper drainage in a Riverbend. Sewage and water have no place to drain.buyer beware . 3 X $$repairs in a Riverbend and the owners tried covering all the problems up.

Fantastic experience: Had an issue with the pilot on the water heater and it turned out that it needed replaced. It was done right away and with little fuss or mess.

Negative experience: If you are thinking about renting from these people, Don't.... I am getting the exact same management that I received from my cheapo landlord, except he was just some dude; this is an entire company backed with financial support! It didn't appear they had ever actually been to the property before renting it, and will try to manipulate the lease if you let them. Wolves
