Fantastic experience: We had a major leak Sunday. Our water has to be shut off and we thought we'd be without water until Monday because it was already getting dark. I was so happy to be notified that we would have someone out within an hour. David showed up on time and fixed our issue and saved the day. He even gave us a tips on how to minimize the possibility of it happening again. I'm quite sure he was tired after a long day but he shook my hand with a smile and drove away with our issue resolved. Great that we are provided vendors who are honest, efficient, and professional.

Fantastic experience: Working with RentWerx was amazing from start to finish. The self-showing option with the lockbox made it incredibly convenient to view the home on my own schedule, which I truly appreciated. The application process was smooth, straightforward, and easy to navigate. One feature I found interesting was the use of Citizens, a third-party service that assists with setting up utilities. I think it’s a great resource, especially for renters who prefer extra support during move-in. However, it would be even better if this service were optional, allowing renters the flexibility to either use the assistance or set up utilities on their own. Please read your lease and know that if any of the appliances are damaged upon inspection move-in, they will not replace them Overall, my experience was ok, and I would definitely recommend them but bring your own appliances. Maria and Fernanda were the best part of Rentwerx

Negative experience: RentWerx was not a good experience for me. The staff did not handle things professionally, and communication issues were constant. On top of that, I ran into fees that were not clearly disclosed upfront. Anyone thinking about using them should go through the leasing agreement line by line. Based on my experience, I would have been better off using an independent realtor who could provide clearer guidance and transparency.

Negative experience: Be prepared to pay fees for breathing their air. This company is ridiculous. They require you to opt in on fees and stupid stuff that does not benefit you in any regard . After my lease is up I cannot wait to never do business with this company or any company like it. TRASH!

Negative experience: 520 thurber drive. This is by far the worst company rent from. service request take forever to complete. and when you move out they will charge you bogus charges. I paid for professional cleaning and the house was spotless when i left it then they claimed the walls needed to be repainted and i had videos and pictures of everything stating otherwise. Backup to time of rental of when i moved in the house was dirty i has to pay someone to clean before even moving in which they have a 3rd party to come take pictures and videos of and also they come for rental renewals updates. This company is a complete scam at it finest. if you trying to contact anyone they don't respond in a timely manner. i've reached out to Ryan Hylinski director of maintenance 4 times by email providing evidence of my proof of everything and no response at all. no business code of ethics at all.

Fantastic experience: We went with RentWerx, despite being approved for another cheaper property with Tricon, because they were respectful and quick to respond. Tricon threatened us with deadlines and canceled our application before realizing they made a mistake and approved us... Totally different experience with RentWerx and I would much rather rent from a company working directly with homeowners with respectful and upbeat interactions!!

Negative experience: Editing review. I wish I had looked at the Yelp reviews before ever entering into a home with RentWerx. The management team are great until they aren't. Our property management was good however be careful during move out as they charge crazy fees without proof and do not let you do a walk through. Very rude non communicative at the end.

Regarding move-out charges, our process follows Texas Property Code and is based on documented findings. If a resident disagrees with any item listed on their security-deposit itemization, they have 15 days from the date they receive the itemization to submit a written dispute. Instructions and the dispute form are available on our website.
We take all feedback seriously and strive to remain transparent and professional throughout the entire tenancy, including move-out. We appreciate you sharing your experience.

Negative experience: I just moved in a month ago. Sink and dishwasher leaks puddles. Maintenance looked at dish washer and there was rat poop underneath it and rats were chewing up the cords. They’re very much slowly fixing the problems but as a new tenant who has a job and can’t be here 24/7 to make sure the correct job is getting done is frustrating to say the least. I asked about the exterminator bc typically when you move into a place there isn’t rat poop but was told it was taken care of so I asked for proof. And had to have along argument with the maintenance manager and threaten to file a report just to get proof that it was actually done to get peace of mind. As a renter just moving into and reading past reviews of them taking security deposits I can only come to the conclusion that they don’t actually check move outs. There should be no reason the stove, dishwasher, sink, closet door, etc are broken. I was aware these duplex weren’t spectacular but I expect appliances to work and not to have rat poop in them before moving in. Edit: 8 months later. I added pictures of updates since they refused ( they said it was fixed last year, but there was rat pooped when I moved in) to bring an exterminator and the rats are back through my neighbors side (it’s a duplex). They destroyed my washing machine tube and the dishwasher/ sink again. They finally sent out an exterminator and he said yes there’s rats and entry points. Clearly it’s fall so that when rat activity enters homes. If they didn’t refuse an exterminator this wouldn’t have been a current issue. Currently I have no access to water in my kitchen without it flooding or am I able to wash my laundry as well.

Fantastic experience: This company seems very fair. We just moved into the house within Venado Crossing (military move). They have an app for everything to protect yourself as a renter, we’ve never gotten screwed over by a management company before, but this is by far the most thorough one I have seen to protect, not only the landlord, but also the renter. After directly speaking with the management team, they’re very professional and polite. I don’t anticipate any issues with them, and this could be the best renting experience we’ve had so far (6 military moves down, hopefully no more to go.)

Negative experience: DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE THE BIGGEST SCAM EVER AND LOVE TO SCAM MILITARY!! and if you do rent from them, take pictures of every single thing before you move in and when you move out. We did the same and they still tried to charge us for things we did not do. We lived in this home for 6 months. SIX MONTHS. The condition the home was given to us was horrible. Wood floor ripped up from some kind of flooding by the back door. My fiance ended up getting a piece of wood stuck in his foot from it and had to have it removed. The guy they sent to fix it was so rude and so unprofessional. The home was dirty, there was some kind of saw dust all over counters when we moved in. Front lawn was dead, bushes were dying. We were already charged for a cleaning fee moving in. I am active duty military and we PCS’d to San Diego for a 3 week school then Germany. For over a month I didn’t hear a single thing from this company about the move out. I go on a field op for 2 weeks after getting to Germany and they send me a long list of CRAZY things broken in this home. Cracks in the walls are you kidding me? That’s a FOUNDATIONAL THING!!! There are huge cracks in the driveway and the outside brick of the home and even the neighbors struggle with the same things. I had someone come in and clean this home top to bottom yet still tried to say it was dirty when moving out? They charged me for a non existent hole in the wall. Also a broken bar in a bathroom? On video that’s not broken either. We have videos of before moving in and moving out. They wouldn’t respond to a single email trying to appeal any of their “findings”. The moment I got a hold of someone there over the phone as soon as I talked about appealing and getting a lawyer if they wouldn’t respond, they hung up. By the time someone got back to me they said because I didn’t respond within 7 days of the email with all the findings that I can’t appeal it anymore. Tried to explain and show proof of orders that I was away in the field. My chief was willing to write a letter, nope. This is a money hungry scamming company. Charged me over $3k in “damages” when in reality they were just looking for money to upgrade the home. Now that I’m back from deployment and I have time to handle this, I will be taking further action. I also made sure to let the BC of ft Sam know about this company and to tell service members to not rent from this company as they will be pushing that info out during indoc now. Shame on this company for doing this to an active duty single mother.

Negative experience: We recently applied for a rental with RentWerx and had an extremely disappointing experience. Despite asking three separate times over the phone whether there were any active applications for the property, we were repeatedly told that there were none. Based on these assurances, we submitted our application and deposit, only to later find out that the property had already been rented to someone else. While we understand this could happen if we were competing with another application, the fact that we were explicitly told multiple times that there were no active applications makes this feel misleading and unfair. Adding to our frustration, the company’s documentation is filled with aggressive language and excessive fees, making the process feel punitive. Instead of being a professional and welcoming experience, it felt adversarial—as if we were an inconvenience for even applying. This combination of misleading communication and excessive fees leaves the experience feeling untrustworthy and has tainted our perception of the company. We hope this review helps future applicants avoid similar frustrations.

While it’s possible that there were no active applications at the exact time you inquired, our homes can receive multiple applications at any moment, as we are able to process up to three applications per property simultaneously. This means availability can change quickly, even within a short timeframe. We understand how disappointing that can be when you’ve already expressed interest and taken steps to apply.

Negative experience: Best to avoid this company. Lots of extra charges (having to pay for a rental reference for example- really??) , and they nickel and dime for everything. Pay your security deposit instead of paying a monthly fee. You get nothing for the fee-it doesn't protect you at all, and Rentwerx will gouge you after you move out anyway, because they can. The review process is a joke. The house we rented was ok, but they provided no maintenance at all.

While we regret that you feel dissatisfied, we remain committed to providing fair and professional service to all of our tenants.

Negative experience: Don’t rent from this place we rented from them for a year and half and first of all they charge for every little thing and then when we moved into the house it was horrible but we needed a place to live so we did it but the house had mold in the bathrooms and the carpet was so disgusting that I cleaned the carpets the best I could before we moved and we cleaned everything before moving our stuff in to the house and the whole house needed to be painted and it was so bad the baseboards and everything and now that we moved out they are charging us for paint touch up and $95 fee inspection when they have to do that inspection anyways so why do I have to pay for that and now they are trying to charge us for utilities when I got my final bill from cps energy and that’s , that we left the utilities on for them till August 5,2025 like they said we moved out on July 29,2025 . So definitely don’t rent from them unless you want to pay them to do their job and you want a dirty home and then they try to charge you for stuff that needed to be done before you moved in!!!!!

Our homes are rented in as-is condition, which is why applicants are required to view the property in person before an approval is offered. In this case, you did view the home and chose to proceed with signing the lease. Before your move-in while home was still on the market, we had the carpets professionally cleaned by a vendor, and our photos at that time confirm they were not dirty. We also show no record in Meld of any mold concerns being reported during your tenancy. Since Meld is the required system for maintenance requests, without a submission we had no way of addressing this with the homeowner. Regarding the move-out inspection fee, this is standard and outlined in the lease agreement all parties signed and not unique to your situation. We understand it may feel frustrating, but these charges are applied consistently and in accordance with policy.
If you do not agree with the findings on your itemization, you are welcome to submit a dispute within 15 days of receiving it through the link on our website.

Negative experience: I used Rentwerx for years to oversee a home and then just used them again for my own home rental. Everything goes well until you need to move back in. These people lied about services rendered in our home and then they badger you about paying even despite photo evidence that the work wasn’t done. The rep we worked with (Alex Rojo) was so rude in his emails to us and very difficult to work with. It felt he intentionally made things difficult for us and went out of his way to ensure an awful experience. It’s a helpless position when someone has control over your own home and is not partnering with you to ensure all commitments are met. It was not left in great condition and we had lots of repairs to contend with - we owned that but it was disappointing how little Rentwerx did to take care of our home. The staff seems to have very low integrity, feeling slighted that we opted to move back in and not continue renting. It was odd. They’re still attempting to charge me for a “professional cleaning” service that was never rendered. Rather, itappeared to us that someone came in with a dirty rag and wiped everything down. Our home was disgusting upon moving back in and I still get an email almost five months later about it even after I went back and forth the with them about it months ago. They’ll seem great at the beginning but be cautious when you’re moving back in - they don’t do business on the up and up and they lack real service skills. Trust me and don’t waste your time, money or energy either this company. I would never use them again and I urge others to do so at your own risk. Use them with caution.

Our process requires that vendors provide photo documentation for all completed services, including cleanings. In this case, the cleaning vendor did submit before-and-after photos, and we have those on file confirming the work was performed.

Negative experience: Fernanda was a great relator who answered all my questions in a prompt manner. However, rentwerks in general as a company was very sketchy to deal with trying to get extra fees info in general you have submitted your application in total to try to get the true price upfront. BTW there is a lot of hidden fees in the application itself.Honestly probably will not resign after my lease is over since I do not like the way the company handles their business. I have updated my review because I do not appreciate the space that was not given when I told Fernanda that I was able to complete the deadlines of setting up the utilities due to my grandmother dying and having trying figure out how to grieve and setting up her funeral.It just further validated that she just wanted my money and did not care what I had to do to meet her deadline. I understand that deadlines have to met however if someone communicates a death in the family and they have to deal with that before moving it should be respected especially when I state that I am currently at the funeral home. Update 1 Year Later: This is one of the worst places I have rented. The unit itself smelled terrible and wasn't cleaned well. The unit had a lot of trouble with crickets coming from the faucets, to the AC shutting down almost every other week due to the storms or wind. I would not recommend their properties.

We’d like to clarify that there are no hidden fees in our application process. All fees are transparently outlined in the Screening Criteria document provided to every applicant at the time of application submission. We also send this information again when following up for any pending documentation, so applicants are fully informed before signing a lease.
Regarding your comment about the utility setup deadline, we are truly sorry for the loss of your grandmother and extend our condolences. Our team only follows up to ensure there are no delays in the move-in process and to help tenants move in smoothly by their lease start date. While we do have standard timelines in place, we always strive to be understanding and respectful during difficult personal circumstances.
As for the maintenance concerns, we show that a work order for crickets was submitted in September 2024, and a vendor was dispatched. Our records indicate that we followed up with you after the visit, but we did not receive a response indicating that the issue was still occurring. It’s important that any ongoing or new maintenance issues be submitted through our MELD system so we can properly address them.
In regard to the air conditioning, the last AC-related work order we received was also in September 2024. We did not receive any further reports after that. If we are not made aware of recurring issues through official work orders, we unfortunately cannot take corrective action.
