Experiencia negativa: We had the joy of having Kevin as our inspector again this year and it was great to see him! He’s very attentive and kind, and remembered us and our home! He’s very professional and efficient and we will always be glad to see him. Edit! I’m returning to this review to let people know about some issues I had with this management company. Main concerns included: third party maintenance that was REQUIRED, called a “renters benefits package” and an increase in rent to cover these costs without conferring with us beforehand. While living in the home, it transferred to sloane property management from a different management company. The change was not particularly smooth, and as a result, “issues” with the home that were well documented upon our move in, are now being charged from the security deposit. It’s really unfortunate that when transferring management companies, all the photographs and evidence of prior damage was not kept, and that our contracts were rapidly changed without review of our previous agreements (pet rent, required charges for pest control, air filters). Overall, the transition between companies was not smooth and led to significant stress. I will however reiterate that Kevin the inspector was always kind and informative.

Experiencia negativa: I’d like to start by encouraging any potential tenant or home owner seeking a property management company to look elsewhere. As much as I’d like to take legal action against this poorly managed branch for forcing stipulations not reflected in the contract I signed, I’m choosing instead to wash my hands of this situation, one that’s been handled with nothing but incompetence on Sloan’s side. It’s appalling. I entered a 12 month contract with a total that reflected in the contract yet Savannah insists I owe for 13 months, because they made an “oopsy.” The lack of accountability and professionalism is staggering, it feels like pulling teeth just to get a coherent response or a basic acknowledgment of responsibility. During the move out process they decided to show that their greed goes beyond lying against a contract and decided that we should be held responsible for blinds that were documented to “not have wands” as well as a single broken outlet cover prior to us moving in, totaling in over $600 in damages to come out of our deposit. It’s genuinely alarming that a "property manager" cannot comprehend or uphold the terms of a contract issued by their own company. That level of negligence is unacceptable, and I sincerely hope Sloan Realty and those who work for them are held accountable for it one way or another.

Experiencia negativa: Horror story. Was supposed to fix our sewage pipe for a month and a half. Just keep getting quotes and never doing anything. Flooded bathroom and hallway 2 times with feces. Also every quote have to lift the toilet so have to decontaminate our bathroom and floors everytime. We now have a yellow jacket infestation that have come in the house they didn't come for days. We have been homeless since last Friday. Have to open door for pest tomorrow. I told them to cancel the sewage quote. They were going to send people in there with the yellow jackets. Could open the door and be a swarm. My wife killed 15 on Friday. Thank God we didn't get attacked or my cat. They have a disregard for human life as long as the rent comes in. Only get a proper response when a lawyer gets talked about and then it's, oh we have to do a quote or speak to the owner. Pest should have been there asap as they are a life threatening species when they swarm. I will post again more about this horror. As is means livable. They jave broken a state law of repairs needed to be done. Emotional and financially exhausted and they don't care. Be very careful with these people. Make sure you have money for a lawyer and are prepared to call the state and BBB on them as we have to . It's good to have someone in law enforcement to talk to also. Please study and know your rights.

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful, quiet, relaxing place to stay. Enjoyed our morning coffee on the porch each day rain or shine. The view out front was awesome to see. Did see a few dolphins swim by. Plenty of space for the four of us to enjoy. Didn't need a thing as the very clean unit had everything we needed. Travel distance around the area was a quick drive into Charleston, even Savannah was not too bad a drive for the day. Enjoyed Folly Beach too. So many places to choose to have breakfast or dinner. Did appreciate the additional information binder to use for activities in the area. Would definitely stay at this location again.

Experiencia fantástica: Warren was the best host, very responsive and the house is exactly as described in the Airbnb listing. Warren sent us the code to gain entry, and the house has everything you will need to enjoy the property without having to pack all the things you normally would need when traveling. It is a nice, peaceful neighborhood with lots of kids playing outside and our dog loved the long walks and having a huge fenced in backyard to play in. When we got home from our trip, we realized we left something behind, and we notified Warren and the same day he sent the missing item back to us which was so nice of him to do that. So, rest assured if you book this lovely house, you will be in good hands and well taken care of by this awesome host! Thanks again Warren for a nice, relaxing stay

Experiencia negativa: If I could I would rate this ESTABLISHMENT AS A SLUM LORD! you could not pay me to want to move back here if my life depended on it! For 9 months we lived here and month to month which was fine but this place is out to make money and not take care of you! We have video evidence and pics to prove that this place IS NEGLECTING AND STILL IS NEGLECTING ITS PROPERTIES. we had to leave 1295 mathis ferry bc our lease was up bc they were selling the property just to find out that they are renting it out again after the refused to fix the WATER DAMAGE FROM THE BACK DOOR RENTER BEWARE THESE PPL WILL NOT HELP YOU AND YOU WILL HAVE TO FIGHT THEM OR GET LEGAL HELP! PLEASE DO NOT RENT FOR THESE PPL AND IF YOU MUST DONT GO TO 1295 MATHIS FERRY ROAD! the floors will leak and they will keep all your deposit! They kept almost our whole 2k deposit why even give me back 300$? I AM AN OCD TYPE OF PERSON AND I HAVE A CHILD I AM NOT DIRTY AND THEY LET US LIVE THERE WITH MOLD AND WATER DAMAGE AND RAISED OUR RENT 10P$ AFTER WE MOVED OUT? WHAT A JOKE!

Experiencia negativa: Recently had a less than ideal move-out experience with this company. We had been working with Oyster Creek Properties for nearly 3 years, and had to move on a short timeline due to a military PCS. The property owner decided to change management companies less than a month before our scheduled move. We had provided ample notice of our intent to vacate, and requested an inspection with Sloane to determine what would need to be addressed prior to us vacating. Unfortunately, the company was unresponsive and we were unable to meet anyone until the day we dropped off the keys. Fast forward a few weeks and we receive our security deposit return, and were charged basically our entire deposit for repairs that were never addressed during our tenancy. Had we had the opportunity to meet with our Property Manager prior to leaving, perhaps we could have addressed any of the issues we ended up being charged for. Would not recommend anyone in the Charleston area, especially military members, rent from this company.

Experiencia negativa: ZERO STARS if I could! Absolutely the worst rental company I have ever used! Horrible, cheap, unprofessional people. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! Communication with property management is ABSOLUTELY ABHORRENT! They are difficult to work with and use several third party services for everything from pest control to pets to insurance and don’t help facilitate anything you might need as a renter. You have to make contact several times to get just about any repair or update completed. I wish I never moved in here, I’m gonna end up having to take them to small claims court most likely! There was a repair that was required because half of the house was losing power because the older electric panel could not support the output. I waited months for the special component to come in and be replaced, they estimated it would take a few hours. I went weeks where the entire home was without power and had to find another livable solution. The renters insurance they require would not cover it. My fridge full of groceries spoiled because the repair was estimated to take hours, not weeks and they will not reimburse or credit me for the loss/damages incurred, not to mention it was totally inconvenient overall. I had to find another place to live and come clean out a fridge full of disgusting spoiled groceries. I also provided an ESA certification document for my dog directly to them months ago. They use a third party application/site for pets and have not approved the document, siting additional documentation is needed. However, they have all information needed to reach out to the vet or psychiatrist if they actually needed to. They are STILL CHARGING “pet rent” for the last 4 months . They refuse to credit my account. It’s unbelievable frankly how bad they want to keep a dollar. Such poor business morals!

Experiencia negativa: I used this company for four years and even recommended them to others. However, my experience during the move-out process was extremely disappointing. They painted a wall without our permission and attempted to patch holes with poor-quality spackling — it looked like the work was done carelessly. Despite this not being our responsibility, we are still being charged a significant amount for repainting. We went back and forth via email regarding these issues, but they ultimately decided to withhold the entire security deposit to cover wall repairs and flooring replacement. Additionally, the lingering odor from pet dander is overwhelming, raising further concerns about the unit's condition and their maintenance practices. Overall, the move-out experience has been terrible, and I can no longer recommend this company.

Experiencia negativa: PLEASE DO NOT RENT THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!!!! They sent me a text on a Saturday saying they were terminating my lease. No one answered my calls or told me why until the following Monday. The owner’s of the house were disrespectful and downgrading to my boyfriend and I when we were forced to move out for no reason (which they legally don’t have to give) but told me continuously they would work with me through this transition and have not yet once. This is a horrible company with horrible customer service and support along with horrible owners they rent for. PLEASE find another company or someone else to rent through!

Hi Jessica, I'm surprised to hear that you feel we did not work with you. We did give you a 30 day notice to move, but it is not in our control what day of the week the 30 day mark falls on. It was not our intention to add more stress to an already stressful situation, but we are not in the office during the weekend, and responded to you when we reopened. We scheduled the inspection for the afternoon of the 30th, which is when your lease terminated (at noon). You were not out, so we moved the inspection to the next day, at which point you were still not out. We did not file eviction for holdover tenancy and we did not charge any of the penalties that we would have been within our rights to charge. Instead, we tried to stay in communication with you and allow you the time you said you needed to move. What we got from you was emotional outbursts and blame for things that our far beyond our control (such as the pet policy of your new residence). I am interested that you say that you and your boyfriend were forced to move--your boyfriend was not a legal occupant on the lease. Additionally, we cannot be held accountable for the behavior of adults who are not Sloane Realty employees. The owner of the property had scheduled a special trip to come down for the turnover and was unable to get the work done because you did not move out for two additional days. He was (understandably) upset. We regret that you feel you were so badly treated, but your review and your behavior over the past month have reinforced my conviction that terminating your lease was the best move for all parties and we wish you well with your new residence.

Experiencia negativa: Absolutely the worst reality company I've ever dealt with, and it's not even close. You can't ever get in touch with them. Then this 0ast year I signed a new lease, then 2 weeks before they sent me a different lease and told me that the other one I signed had an error, we'll the error was they wanted to jack rent up by an extra $200 a month and gave me 2 weeks to decide. If there was a way to give them 0 stars I would.

Experiencia fantástica: The entire team starting with Warren Sloane to Sarah Turocy was extremely professional. They also gave me peace of mind as I am not a resident of South Carolina. I have been well represented and supported in every aspect of property ownership by the property management team and ultimately the sales team from 2012 -2025. All decisions were discussed and fortified with percentages and a price that best suited the market for the rental and then sales price. Again the entire team was right there preparing. Experiencia negativa: Absolutely the worst real estate management company I’ve encountered. I pay $4k a month, they never respond, they never fix anything, they lie about silly things like scheduling maintenance (that never shows up mind you). This is a group of bad people who decide daily to make clients miserable due to their dishonesty and abhorrent business abilities. Awful human beings, stay far far away.

Experiencia negativa: It is unimaginable to think anyone would give them 5 stars. This is by far the worst company I’ve ever rented from. Terrible organization and a horrendous lack of communication from their staff. I’ve never been more frustrated trying to get a maintenance request completed.

Experiencia negativa: Absolutely the worst realty company I've ever dealt with. Doesn't take care of the property. Doesn't notify with any changes to rental agreement. I was forced out of a house with 2 weeks notice due to their negligence. They do not care about loyal tenants. Avoid at all costs!! ****Edit to respond to owners excuses.**** We ONLY moved into 2nd rental when Sloane lost the first due to negligence (hole in the roof they failed to fix for 6 months that we'd done a temporary patch on. hole in kitchen floor directly in front of stove, hole for vent was too large, they "fixed it" by cutting hole larger and putting plastic ceiling vent cover on it, not rated for walking on leaving an even larger more dangerous hole in the middle of the kitchen floor. When they didn't bother to fix these things the owner took the house back. The owners were the neighbors to this address and we spoke to them about everything. We were given 2 weeks notice we had to move, not even giving us enough time to apply elsewhere. Sloane acted like they were doing us a favor offering us a new place for $1000 more monthly and another $1000 for deposit. We took it because we had little choice and did want to stay in the area. They then offered to "help me" by introducing me to their cleaning person to get a job to afford the higher rent, so trust me when I say I've seen the Sloane standards for their rentals by working with this cleaning person. Walls falling in, holes in ceilings, roaches everywhere. I've been in at least 12 Sloane rentals and never saw a well maintained home. And now the place we're in, we've reported floor boards popping up, ceiling in one bathroom peeling, shelves in kitchen put on wall without being placed into a stud so they're falling off and they've done terrible work or ignored it. I also, for about 4 months now, have gotten emails and knocks on my door for the maintenance on my neighbors cracked and leaking ceiling. I've told them EVERY TIME, it's not our house it's the neighbor who's address is the same number as ours, but has A behind it. Seeing as they JUST sent me an email about this 2 days ago, guessing neighbors ceiling is still leaking 4 months later. So the company led by a person who ran for a public office, aka a politician trying to make it sound like they've done everything right and tried to help etc, can try to bs their way through it all but we both really know how they operate and the truth. As for the new house being taken over by a new company, that we were given 4 days notice of the transfer to, So far just speaking with them has been easier and more promising. Definitely not upset AT ALL that Sloane is no longer someone I have to deal with.

Experiencia negativa: I wish I had read some of the reviews for this Property Management company prior to leasing from Sloane Realty. If you do take on a lease with them, when you move out do not spend your own money on trying to clean the unit or repair any of the damages. I can assure you, it is a wasted effort. Upon move in, the property did not have a proper paint of coat and there were damaged spots on the walls. The drywall was crumbling in the bathroom as the wrong paint and sheen were used in an EXTREMELY poorly vented bathroom. The owner fought us when we requested to have a towel bar installed as there was nowhere to hang bath towels in the entire bathroom. I should have known then how the experience would go at this point. I noted these items upon move-in and they remained the same during my tenancy. They will only fix something in your unit that might cost them money in the long run-i.e. they will fix your running toilet because they pay the water bill. Everything else will be a fight for you. Our neighborhood dumpster was broken at the bottom for months and we went over a month without the recycling being picked up. When I called to address the issues, nothing was done. I was asked to reach out to the waste management company myself. When I did so, I was told again to have the PM company reach out directly. The rep at Sloane was upset that they had to take care of this issue. This should never have been a responsibility of a non-owning tenant in the first place. There is a monthly charge for these things. We had trash seeping out of the dumpster for months and wet cardboard all over the parking lot for over a month. When I moved out, I was told I'd be given my move-out instructions 30 days in advance of move out. This did not happen. The email sent to me stated that I had previously received my instructions. I had not. They sent them to me within the week of my move-out date and they included having the carpets chemically cleaned with the furniture removed from the home, and a house cleaning. This information is not provided when you sign the lease. I moved out on a holiday, but still managed to get one of my cleaners to deep clean the home. I was still charged for the service after the fact. The additional charges amounted to over half of the initial security deposit. The lease allows for you to mount small items in the house. I am the Director of Construction for a construction management company, and I can easily price the small repairs for a mounted TV that were necessary. I can assure you they do not amount to half of the deposit. I left a full bucket of paint matched paint in the closet for them to use, yet they somehow managed to rack this bill up with a random contractor's invoice-who I have been unable to track down. Please come to MY company for any repairs you may need as I can assure you they will not cost you anything close to the racket Sloane is running. They will find a way to keep at least half of your money when you move out. My advice is just to understand this on the front end, do not plan to get that money back, and certainly do not invest any of your own money in repairs on your own. They'll find a way to charge you for something unsubstantiated, regardless.

We do not ever ask applicants to pay a deposit before the lease is signed, which cannot be done until the application has been completed, screened, and approved. That makes me wonder if you were actually speaking with someone in our office the first time--real estate ads are frequently targets of scams. We do not have a record of you speaking with our office or viewing the property through our system. I am sorry that you were disappointed and we wish you luck in finding the right property for you.

Experiencia negativa: Leased a home from sloane and it was a nightmare. We treated the home with the utmost respect and care going above and beyond even cleaning up the landscaping more than your average renter. The management and owners of the home refused to complete multiple repairs during the tenor of the lease. Very difficult to reach the office or to have them respond to your calls when needed. The most frustrating part came during move out when the home was left in sparkling condition, the owners and management got into a fight and management gave owners the entire security deposit over $2000 without any explanation or list of problems. Would not recommend to use their services as a renter or homeowner in any case.

Experiencia negativa: Ingrid Ritschl is so non responsive and very yes ma’am, no problem, yes, yes ,yes. Then nothing she agreed to happens. This business is so unprofessional it is unbelievable they are still in business. Before I applied I told her if I couldn’t get into the rental property on my on lease that I have a co signer that is the owner of a lot of restaurants in Charleston Sc. She said your information and everything looks great, You will have no problem you don’t need them to co sign….. Today I get an email I was denied. I paid $85 to apply this is including my pet fee’s for applying. She knew exactly what she was doing. I called and she stated I’m sorry the owner of the company picked an applicant yesterday. When my application hadn’t even came back yet for the same property!! I’m furious. Hopefully this helps people go elsewhere then Sloane Realty for in my case rental properties! Such a horrible experience especially with her knowing my situation knowing I’m living in a hotel paying $700/week due to being scammed on Facebook marketplace over a location downtown I was supposed start renting two weeks ago. Don’t waist your time or money with this company!

Experiencia negativa: My experience was not good at all! Communication was VERY slow. My move-in was horrible. I got tons of wrong information that caused me much time and effort. It was stressful. When I moved in, my duplex had all kinds of junk in and around it that they had to come and remove. Then they had the nerve to take $200 out of my deposit for "cleaning". I left nothing in there and it was in excellent condition. When they did come to fix something, it was not a good quality repair. By the way, the wrong information and difficulty in communication continued until I left the key. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN!

They have always offered excellent communication in a very timely and professional manner. They take care of both sides quite nicely, the owner and the tenants. If repairs are needed I know immediately and the Sloane team has a good group of contractors should the repair be more than an owner cares to do himself. Prices are fair and they do not mark up cost - you pay the actual contractor invoice. . Warren reminds me every time we change a tenant to be sure and get the new tenant a copy of the most current HOA rules and regulations so the new tenant knows what the community expects of its residents. Dispute resolution, if any, is prompt and fair. Highly recommended!!

Experiencia negativa: In Nov 2019 I rented a property in folly which Sloane realty was the property manager for. This was my 1st rental experience as I was relocating to Charleston. Initially all was well, however, the community I had chosen had a very diabolical HOA assoc, who despised renters. The sloane co did contact me concerning HOA matters, however, there was never a sense of urgency conveyed as these issues were total ridiculous. Then just after my lease renewed from the 1st yr, Someone from sloane contacted me to say that I owed fines from the owners HOA of over $3000. Yes that’s right. Warren Sloane himself visited my property in Nov of 2020 to make me aware of fees being incurred and at that time were roughly $700. Sloane co had no interest in disputing any of this. No concern for the facts or their rental client, just collecting the $. In the month that followed I corrected the “2” issues they had problems with, so fast forward to Jan 2, 2021, I received an email from Sloane that I now owed $3250. Yes that’s right! After consulting with two local attorneys I reluctently paid the fees. I gave notice of vacating on 3/1/21 to be out 4/1/21. I had always treated this property as it were my own. Then, during my last month, the HOA did painting maintenance on the lower portion of the building which is the garage area for the home. My rather expensive sports car was kept in that garage. I returned home one day in early March to find white paint splatter all over my car. I contacted Sloane in regards, and as others have stated, no one answers the phone, and I was left to leave a message, 10 days laters I was told the owner had contacted the HOA about the issue. I provided Sloane with anFast forward to last days of March 21, I’m moving and still no word on this situation, then as I’m leaving the community, taking things to my new home, I see the HOA pres walking as I’m leaving, I stop and inquire about the issue with my car. Her response is she’s had no idea what I’m speaking of, what Sloane co told me over ten days ago that they were waiting for a response from the HOA. I contacted Shannan, the person responsible for move out and she said she was “preparing the move out paper work” and would get back to me in 2 days. I moved out on 3/31:21 as I said I would. I had my house cleaners that clean the home every 2wks, clean the house the last day after everything was removed. It was spotless, I returned my keys, gate control etc to the office. The office with no one present in the middle of the day. I was offered no exit inspection, nothing and still no word on the “move out papers or the issue with my vehicle. April 30, 2021, almost 6 weeks since my last contact, I received a letter from the Sloane co, no be aware I had a $2850 sec deposit here. Sloane now sends me a BILL for $705 dollars owed after they took my security deposit, for cleanup, remember I had the empty home cleaned on the last day and have invoices, mold on the ceiling in the master closet, clearly not my issue as the attic is not properly vented and moisture accumulates and blending of paint on dining rooms walls? No mention of the damage to my vehicle. In Closing Don’t do business with this company. Don’t subject yourself to the headache incurred here!

Experiencia negativa: This company took over a lease I had signed with another company 8 months into my lease. The property had various issues, which were never attended to. However, my real issue with the. Is no live contact with anyone. Left many messages for Shannon, who apparently does not have the decency to call back. They requested on our move out to many things, which were not part of our lease agreement. I, however, am a owner of many properties myself, and strive to leave things better than I found them. I did as they requested and used Chem dry to clean all of the carpets. Apparently, they were not happy with there own company recommendation and had them clean it again at my expense. I have NEVER rented a property that I have not received a full refund on(much less a refusal of a conversation about such an incident). I, also, had a professional and through cleaning of the house on the same day. They again state the house was not clean and sent in another company to clean and charged me for it. I have never left a review but sick of companies doing this to people. Going to try to post pictures, if Google allows it.

Experiencia negativa: It is a shame that I have to leave a poor review after utilizing a Sloane for 6 years to manage my property. Ana is the only employee that followed up or responded to my requests. Shannan failed multiple times to respond to my emails to repair damages from previous tenants. The cell number on her emails is disconnected. Emailing Warren has resulted in no response. I am trying to sell my rental and need the repairs to be complete or at least a date. I have resorted to hiring my own repairman and cleaning company in order to help sell my house while Sloane sits on the deposit needed to cover tenant obligations. It has been 2 weeks since the tenants left and taking into consideration the holidays the least I deserved was a date to understand when the carpet would be cleaned and items repaired...even an acknowledgement that they received my 10 emails. Finally, I asked them to sell my house over the summer and had to go to another company due to lack of responsiveness. If I could give zero stars I would.

Experiencia negativa: For one. Sloan realty entered our house without knowing! Missing a few things after the man entered the home that worked there. There was never a 24 hour notice for them to enter the house and meanwhile I have 2 dogs that are a Doberman mix and a pitbull mix that were in their kennels but how did they know they were in their kennels without the neighbors who once again no one told us they were related to the owners and we feel like we can’t even be there without feeling like we are on the Truman show! I am a prisoner in my rental! NEVER USE SLOAN REALITY!!! Worst move I ever made!!!! If I could give them less than a 1 they deserve it for raiding through my stuff and kicking my dogs kennels so much my Doberman Peed his cage!!!!!!! OUTRAGED. If you use this company you have sold your soul to the DEVIL basically!!!!

Experiencia negativa: I’m completely dissatisfied a full year AFTER I was released from and robbed by this company. This company kept my $1,450 deposit AND charged me $1,800 to paint the walls of the home AFTER telling me the property was in great shape. In addition to the total miscommunication, I was given $115 credit for a garage opener that I purchased and installed AND was told I owed $235. After several attempts to communicate how disheartening this was, NO ONE cared to resolve situation. I spent a full year trying to remain quiet, because my initial communications were always so favorable until I moved and was robbed. I think the legal system allows for this type of behavior of rental companies and that Sloane Realty has taken advantage of many individuals using this system. I am not one who discredits companies since my recourse is to simply cease spending my funds in their establishment. However, this post is just to warn others so that they are aware of the risks.

Experiencia fantástica: Someone always responded in a very timely manner in the rare event I needed anything. They took excellent care of my property for a very reasonable fee. Also, they were consistently punctual with my invoices and payments. Shannan was especially wonderful as she took care of several issues on my behalf that the renters wanted at the last minute after I had already moved out of town. I highly recommend Sloane Realty and will only use them in the future!

Experiencia fantástica: Sloane Realty has been great to work with! They have been quick to address our property issues. They have found us good tenants and helped get repairs completed in a timely and cost conscious way. I highly recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: Celeste has been incredible! She took over a triplex I was struggling with managing on my own, got the necessary repairs done in a timely manner and rented/released all three units! She also rented another home for us very quickly with a rental amount to cover all of our expenses. She is very professional, kind and patient!! I would highly recommend her for all of your property management needs!
