Veterans United Realty: Reviews
Negative experience: Veterans united is not very real. I bought my first home through them. Which went fine. Now im trying to sell this home and improve myself. And they have done nothing but stab me in the back. I have ptsd and they play on that. Send me agents with a 3.4 rating that cant even call me back. I would recommend to any other vet to forget the free monogram blanket they give ya. They just sell your mortgage anyway.
Fantastic experience: Eric Marcille is GOD SENT!!! The BEST loan officer that you could ever find, REQUEST HIM AS YOUR LOAN OFFICER, you will not be disappointed! Kayli Hays is the best loan coordinator! THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS, UNDERSTANDING, AND PROFESSIONALISM! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!
Negative experience: This people won't stop calling me about "inquiries" I have never made. Always different people calling about different property that I have never even heard of. It just seems like a big scam.
Negative experience: I have used veterans united 3 different times since 2022. The first time was an amazing experience. The second time went totally wrong and a horrible experience. Raised my closing costs multiple times from $200 to $600 to $800 to $1,400 less than 24hrs from closing time. Now the 3rd time they went from I was receiving $2,700 back to receiving $3,700 back and now less than 24hrs away from closing on selling my first home I bought with them to owing them $2,595. I highly recommend never using them and chose Navy Federal Credit Union if your a veteran.
Hey Jason,
I’m really sorry this was your experience, especially after working with Veterans United multiple times. I also want to mention that this page is for Veterans United Realty, and it sounds like your concerns are related to Veterans United Home Loans. I’m still glad you shared this, because what you described matters and deserves attention.
I can understand how upsetting it would be to see numbers change so close to closing, especially more than once. That kind of last-minute shift can feel overwhelming and confusing, and I’m sorry for the stress it caused you. While some changes can happen as final details are confirmed, your experience clearly didn’t feel consistent or predictable, and that’s not the impression we want to leave.
I’d really like the chance to take a closer look at what happened in each of these transactions and help provide clarity around the changes you saw. If you’re open to it, please reach out to me directly so I can dig into your file and talk through it with you. You can reach me at 1-800-212-5200 or [email protected].
Our Client Advocate team is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday, and we typically respond the next business day if you contact us outside those hours.
Sincerely,
Claire S., Client Relations Manager
Negative experience: Submitted profile online wasn't contacted but got solicitive emails. Had to call them to get anything done . Not only did the representative not do what I asked he did what I asked him not to do. Emailed him back to find out what happened, no response.
HI Ben, we are sorry to hear your experience did not meet your expectations. If you would like to email our client advocate team, I'm happy to look into your experience further to see if we are able to identify any coaching opportunities. We are always open to feedback and looking for ways to improve the client experience.

Fantastic experience: It's a process I understand that now.
Hi Monteze, We help clients at all stages in the homebuying process. Some are already pre-approved and others are still working towards their approvals. By jumping in to help in the early stages our agents can help guide a client through what is needed to make an offer and encourage them to obtain that preapproval early on in the search. That said, being connected to an agent doesn't mean you have to start shopping for homes right away. That agent is there to help answer any questions you may have about the market and start sending you potential homes in your price point so you can get a sense of what's available before you start touring. If you are not ready to start touring homes, and would like to finalize your preapproval first, that is absolutely your prerogative and your agent should respect that wish and support you at the pace you are comfortable moving at.
Respectfully,
Samantha Reeves
Fantastic experience: On a Saturday in July (2025) I answered a few simple questions & within moments I had several emails connecting me to resources. Soon after, the same day, an agent, local to my purchase preference site, called me directly. On Sept 6th, she (my agent) & I had my forever home closed upon & everything was great. Y'all do good work & I felt very cared for. I purchased out right so I didn’t need a loan. But with your program, I worked with a most excellent agent that you had already vetted for me. Credibility from you all & from her is unmatched for home buying. Thank you!!
We love to hear it! Thanks for sharing about your experience and congratulations on your new home!

Negative experience: Spoke to someone on Friday the 1st of Aug about a home in Missouri, for $299,999! She took my info and stated a Rep would be in touch! I stated we were very interested and willing to make the drive from Florida! Never received a text, email or phone call back! Nice way to represent Vets!
Hi Steve,
I’m really sorry to hear you didn’t receive a call back after sharing your interest. That’s not the experience we want for anyone, especially for veterans who are putting their trust in us.
Your feedback is important, and I’d like to learn more about what happened so we can make it right. If you’re open to connecting, please reach out to me at 1-800-212-5200 or [email protected]. Our team is in the office Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, and we’ll follow up the next business day if we miss you after hours.

Negative experience: My assigned realtor left me in the hands of her husband for the majority of our journey. Most questions I asked had a “idk” response. When it came to the inspection report I was on my own to figure out if I am making the right decision. I ended up closing and with the first couple days i regretted. I am finally able to move out but not without taking a huge financial lost. I will never EVER use this company again.
Hello, We are very sorry to hear about your experience, it does not align with our expectations of the agents in our network. If you would like to send additional information including agent name to our realty advocate team ([email protected]) they will investigate these issues thoroughly. Thank you for sharing your experience , we are sorry you went through this. We will investigate to determine what can be done to ensure this experience does not happen to another client.

Fantastic experience: I want to thank the great team that got me from a pre approval to closing in a month. Even when the VA appointed appraiser criminally undervalued the home, the realtor working with the team found a solution on the fly and I will be in my new home in a week. I can highly recommend them.
Negative experience: This company is way more harmful than good. If you are trying to use a VA loan, go with a local lender that can do VA. These people won't even take the time to do their due diligence and make sure you can get a loan. Then when called out on their lack of effort they just blame it on the Veterans Administration. When it was entirely their lack of effort. Even spoke to a supervisor who was as useless as their loan officer. Thankfully I have a local Mortgage person that put in some effort and got me a loan. Will tell everyone I ever meet to use any company but this one.
Hi Steve,
I’m really sorry to hear about your experience with our friends at Veterans United Home Loans, and I completely understand why you're upset. It’s frustrating when things don’t go as expected, especially when you're trying to use the VA loan benefit you've earned.
It sounds like they may have really missed the mark in terms of communication and effort, and am sure they will be disappointed that you weren’t provided the level of service you deserve. While the VA process can sometimes be complex, it’s on lenders to guide you through it and make sure you feel supported along the way. I know they would love to dig into this more and see what happened.
If you’re open to it, please reach out to their client advocate team at 1-800-212-5200 or [email protected]. They are in the office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, but please reach out anytime that’s convenient for you.

Negative experience: Hello Everyone, I haven't had good experience's with Veterans United Realty. The first Veterans United Broker I just didn't agree with him so I didn't want to proceed with him. On Saturday May 4 2024 I was contacted by Veterans United Senior Loan Officer Amy Haines. We had a very nice conversation about me wanting to purchase my first home on Saturday. At that time Amy said she needed information from wife. So it was scheduled that Amy Haines was suppose to talk to my wife on Monday May 6 2024 at 6:00pm. So on Monday May 6 2024 at 6:00pm didn't hear from Amy Haines. My wife took off from work just to talk to Amy Haines. I called Amy Haines and left a message and my number at 6:30pm May 6 2024. I called to see what happen. So the next day which is May 7 2024. I was assuming Amy Haines was going to call me back once she listen to hear message when she get to work. Most people check there messages the first thing when they come to work and return phone calls. So on May 7 2024 I didn't get a call from Amy Haines. So I called Amy Haines on May 7 2024 but she didn't answer. I called Amy Haines 3 times on May 7 Amy Haines answered on the 3rd time. Amy Haines did apologize for not being available on Monday. Amy Haines did tell me she accidently wrote the wrong date on her calendar and Amy Hines also told me she received all of my messages. So I really don't understand why Amy didn't call me back. My battle buddies in the military said they never got treated like that from Veterans United. I'm currently in the military and spent over 20 years in the military. Me and my family was born and raised in Missouri and we have been placed in situations where we wasn't treated equal or fair in Missouri. So I joined the military and they placed me and my family all around the world with people who treated people equal and fair. I didn't know Veterans United was based in Missouri until I google and seen. I accept Amy Hines apology and I hope to have a better experience with her that can help me get my first house. I believe in my God and forgiveness is always in my heart.
Thank you so much for sharing your concern about Veterans United Home Loans. While we do work closely with Veterans United partners, we are not one in the same.
I have provided your concerns to their client advocate team who will be able to dig in and address the situation you’ve expressed to determine how to best assist.
You may call or email the Veterans United Home Loans Client Advocate team at 1-800-212-5200 or [email protected] to get in touch with any additional feedback or concerns.
Client Advocates are in office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, and messages received outside those hours will be answered on the next business day.
Fantastic experience: Worked with a Realestate lady from this company. Highly professional. Best ever.
Thanks for sharing your feedback Joe! Great to hear you had a good experience!
Negative experience: They're supposed to help veterans get into a home, but couldn't approve me even though I made the money to buy and was selling our old home that was a VA Loan but from a different company that was also a Veterans Home Loan company that couldn't even approve me as well to which I went to a local bank that approved me for up to $500,000 as a VA Loan, just shows they don't even care about veterans as much as they say they do.....
Hello, Thank you for sharing your feedback. While Veterans United Realty is not a lender, and we are not involved in loan decisions we are affiliated with Veterans United Home Loans. With that said, Veterans United strives to bring the best experience possible to all the Veterans that trust them for their home loan journey but they also understand that not everyone’s experience is the same. They would love the opportunity to earn your future business and that starts with a conversation. Please feel free to reach out to their Client Advocate Team as they specialize in the VU experience and would welcome your feedback.

Fantastic experience: So easy to work. They give you a concierge to help get thru the process of purchasing a home thru VA. They have been supper helpful! Had an issue from get go with real estate agent but they came thru for us and found another in the area. They check is with us frequently to see how things are going. I have my fingers crossed that when we find a home the closing will go just as smooth. Would highly recommend them!!
Fantastic experience: I cannot thank veterans United enough. Jacob and Mary made it possible for us to get in our home. It was a lot back and forth and we ran into some bumps but it wasn’t nothing that the team couldn’t fix. They was right behind us every step of the way. They went beyond. This is our first house together and my husband that’s a veteran it was so easy to work with these guys. Jacob was with us every step of the way and calling to keep on top of everything Mary our loan officer she was so sweet and so kind to us. These guys did awesome job. If you every need to buy a home or get prequalified for they are the ones. They made it possible for us to get in our home Friday. I am so full of gratitude right now. They truly care about their veterans. So Jacob and Mary thank you so much for all Your time a effort. You guys deserve more than a 5 in my book it’s a 10z
Fantastic experience: Great folks to work with!
Negative experience: Veterans United is a SCAM! they give out pre approval letters like candy falsely, so that they get money from FHA, when you find a house to purchase the approval letter is not worth anything, you loose your money you've put into the purchase of a house.
Hi Esaw,
I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with a mortgage preapproval. Veterans United Realty is not a mortgage company, so I am unable to speak to any preapproval issues you've experienced and can only address issues regarding our network agents.
If you instead need to get in touch with Veterans United Home Loans, you can contact their Client Advocate team who would be able to look into your matter further. You can contact them at 800-212-5200.

Negative experience: We went online looking for a realtor and this place sent a recommendation, Celeste Goodson. She made an appointment to come by and check structure of home. Guess what, she didn't show up, didn't call. He had to call her and she just said she was *tied up.* Very unprofessional.
Hi Sherry, I’m so sorry to hear about your experience! That is not the type of first impression we ever want to make. I’m having our team look into this and ensure the agent is provided the necessary coaching to ensure this doesn’t happen again. I’ll also have our team reach out to you to see if there’s any way we can repair the situation. Our sincere apologies.

Fantastic experience: They were great I am a costumer/ veteran and glad I turned again to United Realty for refinancing my home
Negative experience: This company is an extreme nuisance. I've received about 10 unsolicited calls in the last 2 days. I'm tired of these jokers calling, and so it's been reported to the FTC. I would NEVER do business with a company that continually harasses people with unwanted phone calls and voice mails. Update: Nice of the company to agree to stop the phone calls, however, I never even requested them to call in the first place. Definition: Unsolicited (found in original review above): Not asked for; given or done voluntarily. To be perfectly clear, this company contacted me numerous times without me reaching out to them. Completely ignorant. 829 a.m, 1139 a.m (x3), 1247pm, 147 p.m..these are the calls received on just ONE of the previous 3 days. You tell me..is this not harassment? I Not once asked for ANY information from this company.
Hello Vincent, I'm sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction. It's never our intent to harass or make unwanted calls. By way of explanation, we call when an individual requests information on a property or requests to be connected with an agent on a number of homebuying sites. Because we received your number along with a request for information, we were attempting to respond to your request. Regardless though of whether you requested information, we are happy to get you added to our internal do not call list so that you will not receive further communications. If you could send an email to [email protected] with your phone number that is being called, we will be sure to get that taken care of right away! Respectfully, Samantha Reeves, Executive Broker
Fantastic experience: Very smooth transactions
Negative experience: Had a horrible experience with this realty company. I purchased a home and none of the defects were disclosed. When I arrived to take possession of the property I found numerous problems. I paid thousands of dollars to fix them only to find more. Once the rain hit I found out that my roof and ceiling leak and I will more than likely have to replace the roof. The foundation is uneven, lots of plumbing issues. I was not told that the hot water heater would have to be replaced, and as cold as it has been, I literally fear every night that my pipes will burst, or my pets will freeze to death while I'm at work, as there is no central air, and the money I was going to use to install heat and air conditioning was used on other issues I was not told about by my realtor, and hotel bills for the weeks I had to spend in the hotel while said repairs were being made. I bought this property while I was still living in another state and couldn't do a visual walk through, but my realtor assured me that the floors and the roof looked fine. Well they were not fine! Not only that she never told me about the huge black mold spot on the ceiling where it obviously had been leaking. I asked her if the previous owners were required to disclose major repairs like leaking roof and sinking floors and she said absolutely yes, but then when I told her I am having these problems she said she was sick and could not come by, and hasn't spoken to me since. It's as though she's avoiding me. What a horrible way to treat the veterans who come to you expecting honesty and help. And now there is absolutely nothing U can do but hope and pray my animals or I don't freeze to death this winter.
Ms. Garris, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
Our team has looked into this matter extensively and determined that we were not in any way involved in the purchase of the property at issue, and didn’t become involved until you requested assistance with selling the property, at which time we referred you to a local agent in our network. As we were not involved in the purchase transaction we can't respond to the nature or circumstances that lead to the situation described above. We are sorry to hear you are dealing with these issues. If you haven’t already, you may consider sharing your feedback with the broker of the agent that represented you in the purchase transaction. Additionally, have you considered reviewing your initial home inspection documentation to determine if there are any warranties in effect? We wish you the best and hope you are able to find a suitable resolution.
Additionally, I understand you have shared feedback with our team regarding the listing agent we referred to you to assist with the sale of your property. I’d like to make you aware that we will be conducting a through review of the agent to determine if she continues to be a fit for our referral network.
Very Respectfully,
Samantha Reeves, Executive Broker
Positive experience: Well
Negative experience: Connected with a realtor that we have not seen since the contract has been signed. Issues with the construction company and he is nowhere to be found but yet still getting paid. We were told there may additional monies available if a situation arises and....nada. Nothing. I'll be sure to share this with the BBB and VA.
Hello Yolanda, thank you for writing. It's very important to us that our agents stay in good contact with every buyer we refer to them. We reached out to your agent and provided feedback and coaching. He should be reaching out to you very soon if he hasn't already. In the future, please don't hesitate to reach out to your team here at Veterans United Realty with any feedback directly and we will be happy to assist. Respectfully, Samantha Reeves, Executive Broker
Fantastic experience: Great place, very. Friendly, Adam Gates really cares !!!
Negative experience: I am a retired 100% TAP disabled veteran living in Alaska planning to move back to the east coast area. I reached out for information on a property and stated in my request to please email and do not call as I live in Alaska. I started receiving phone calls at 0520 AST the next morning. By 0700 AST I couldn't get back to sleep so I finally answered. I informed the man that he clearly cannot read. Reminding that I am in Alaska and asked them to email, not call. The man immediately tried to talk over me and push past the issue saying "you requested info about a property and …”. I told him to not contact me again. I will find someone else. It is extremely disrespectful to call ANYONE (veteran or not) at 0520 in the morning if they haven't told you that it is a good time. Received calls 0520, 0605, and 0700 when I finally answered. No voicemails were left but AJ JAYAMANNE was kind enough to email me with his business card attached to match the phone number with the specific branch of Veterans United Realty.
Hi Lindsey, Our sincere apologies for early morning calls. We have systems in place that are supposed to keep this from happening, so I am looking into it to determine the error and get it resolved immediately. We greatly appreciate your service and wish you the best of luck on your relocation. Respectfully, Samantha Reeves Executive Broker
Negative experience: Veterans United agents and real estate agents have not responded to my inquiries. Have not been able to make an offer yet. Very disappointing.
Hey Ron,
I'm sorry to hear you had issues connecting with your agent. It sounds like our team jumped in as soon as we received information that you were unhappy and have resolved the issue. Please don't hesitate to reach back out to your homebuying team if you need further assistance. Respectfully, Samantha Reeves

Fantastic experience: This is Kirk Carter and Beatrice Richie.... Veterans united has made us a home owner in a extremely short period. Our realtor Melvin Besares has helped us exceptional. He worked hard for us, coupled with being competent, articulate, professional and soooooooo compassionate to our concerns, anxiety, and challenges . Melvin went out of his way at any hour to give us the best advice while walking us through the journey. Melvin seemed to discern the fears and uncertainty that we were experiencing, assisting us with feeling grounded and some normalcy. In our perception Melvin is a man of honor, valor, integrity and he exudes with professionalism.. But wait, Veterans united has a excellent Senior loan officer named Steve Kincheloe. He also went out of his way to help us. His personality was awesome and his voice always sounded like he was smiling; that was so important to us due to uncertainty and acute fear of the unknown. Steve gave us guidance coupled we with working excessively and effective. We close on September 21th, 2020 and there is no way that would have happened without God, Melvin and Steve. Thank you Veterans United for having some awesome mighty men of valor and integrity like Melvin Besares and Steve Kincheloe

My team and I have been working with them for almost a year and I can say it's a blessing to be partnered up with them to serve all of our clients purchasing or selling homes in El Paso. Their loan officers work hard and their focus to ensure all clients close on their home is top notch. Thanks for all your support VU!
Fantastic experience: As a Realtor who partners with Veterans United, I could not be more pleased with their professionalism, knowledge, communication, and dedication to our active duty, retired, and disabled veterans.
