But when you need guidance, expertise, and transparency, Frank’s business ethics and personal values differentiate him from the rest of the realtors. Negative experience: It's unfortunate that I have to write this. But in my experience the Whissel Beer Realty and my realtor and Austin Barrett are not trustworthy. I entered into an agreement with Austin's seller for $5k. Neither one is honorable apparently. The seller is now nowhere to be found after Austin vouching for him to get the sale. Now Austin is walking away. It's heartbreaking to lose that money that was going to fix the known issues with the property. I wouldn't trust this place/people ever again.

We ran into Sean Jones by chance and instantly had a positive intuition about his approach. We learned that he grew up in San Diego County and had an expansive, firsthand knowledge of various areas in San Diego County. Sean understood San Diego not only as a realtor, but as a resident. He introduced us to various members of his team at a Whissel Beer Group BBQ event. This is why I would refer any friend or coworker to Sean Jones' team at Whissel Beer Group. A.) Buying a home in California can be intensely stressful, informationally overwhelming, and require a realtor that understands how long the process might be. Sean met us on 7 early Saturday mornings, was ALWAYS timely, had compiled a printed guide for every property we had discussed the week earlier, replete with photos. He had spoken with the sellers' realtors, collected background information, and gave us his honest opinion on the value of the property we were viewing, and the character/history of the surrounding neighborhood. B.) Realtors are in the difficult position of, often, giving immense amounts of time and energy to potential buyers who might or might not buy a home. Realtors can, quite understandably, try to rush the process along and press potential buyers towards properties that don't meet their preferences, or aren't ideal for their current financial situation. Sean's "superpower" as a realtor is continuing to evaluate, and re-evaluate, what his clients want, what they can afford, curating property lists that better fit with the evolving frame of how the potential buyer's situation, and their tastes, surfaces through the property search process. It's a bit of art, instinct, geography, math, and understanding California's state property law. That I am active duty military, and we were wielding the VA Home Loan, added another element of consideration. In each of these ingredients, Sean Jones was a clear, prepared guide to Camila and I-- making the journey far less intimidating. C. As you search for properties, there are going to be stressful "bumps in the road." Not all factors are easily predicted, or controllable. The personality of your realtor matters. You want someone who isn't easily flustered, isn't impulsive. Sean has a Zen like clarity of considering the best step forward for clients when they might be pressed by time/finance constrictions. Camila and I were challenged on both fronts. A realtor who is emotionally reactive can affect the buyer's perspective even when that isn't intended. Every week that Camila and I worked with Sean, we became increasingly confident that we were in the hands of someone that was steady in his evaluations, calm in negotiation, savvy in dealing with other realtors, and was never thrown off his equilibrium point of objectivity. When you ask for Sean's "straight take" on a property, its area, or its price -- you know you are speaking to someone who wants you to be happy in the future. No sugar coating. You want a realtor like that -- it's Sean Jones. Camila and I bought a home in La Mesa, right in our 'affordability zone.' We initiated and closed the escrow process in less than 30 days, and the negotiation process was graceful and continually updated. The Whissel Team was a polished team in this final chapter of the buying process, working in concert with a lot of time sensitive, moving pieces.
