Experiencia positiva: The Rent Expects started marketing a property I own for rent in Mobile, AL several months ago. They secured a renter Jan. 12, 2026. They collected the prorated rent for Feb. and then Jan. rent. I was told the rent collected would be processed by the 10th of each month and I would receive an email notice. I received their statement on Feb. 10th with their fees deducted and what my rent proceeds would be for. I contacted their office, they said I should receive another email showing the proceeds were being processed on the 10th of February 2026. It is now Feb. 12, 2026, and I haven't received any confirmation my rent proceeds would be made. Doug, the owner, was contacted and I still haven't had a response. Landlords should be concerned that they might not get their rent from this company in a timely manner and owner doesn't respond when there is an issue receiving money that is owed. Thank you, Ed, landlord. Update: I am happy to say my rent proceeds were posted to my account today. I am not sure what happened before, but hopeful it has been resolved and the rent payments will be received every month in a timely manner. Thank you, Ed

I ended up just showing up to their office after a whole month had went by and they were extremely rude. Experiencia negativa: I have had a maintenance request in sense April for multiple issues in the house I’m renting including an electrical problem that is clearly a fire hazard. My AC went out last month on a Wednesday and the temp inside my house was 87 degrees and when I finally heard back from Christian on Monday his response “was all maintenance request need to be submitted through the portal unless it’s an emergency” .

Experiencia negativa: This place is horrible. When they took over my rental my hot water was turned off for a week because their agent was not "aware that the house ran off gas" SMH. Additionally my AC went out and I had to take off work for 2 days because I was the one expected to be there when the AC guy arrived. They still had the audacity to charge me late fees on my rent and would not even consider spreading out those charges. When I walked in to pay me rent the front desk girl albina was being extremely rude to this elderly man who was trying to navigate their website. She was rolling her eyes and was clearly not wanting to help him. Oh and they come into your place without asking. Christian is rude and does not answer his phone terrible rental management.

Experiencia negativa: DO NOT rent 512 Williams St in Mobile. The description is complete false. It is absolutely not three bedrooms. It is two. I lived here, unfortunately, for two years. Holes all throughout the floor where many uninvited guests like to come in. And I mean MANY. They "remodeled" our floor, and the next week it literally ripped up exposing nails. Not to mention the nails sticking up from the walls and the floor everywhere. This is an absolutely disgusting house. You will regret it.

Experiencia positiva: I’ve rented with the Rent Experts for a year. It seems to have been a change with the management’s scope and the service has improved during this short time. As with any management company, you may have to follow-up if you haven’t received a response in your idea timeframe; their communication portal is a plus that I liked using. They will text you about your work orders and you can keep up with the progress. They aimed to address our concerns timely and with favorable results. Thanks to Bree, the admin assistant, and Christian for their courteous service! I would recommend Rent Experts to those looking for rental property!

They HARASSED me for the entire year I was there on late rent (it was never late, they just could not correctly run their business and see I paid)- and even went as far as to HANG AN EVECTION NOTICE ON MY DOOR (despite my rent being paid on the first. As it always was). Then they STOLE $125 at move out! Do not ever do business with them. Doug is unprofessional and rude and is more concerned with stealing your money so he can pay for his heinous Jaguar while his company harasses the tenants.

Experiencia negativa: I've tried renting a property before twice and they don't treat anyone fairly. They keep up properties on their site for applications even if they already know who the owner is going to rent it to. The descriptions for the properties are false, there will be several things wrong with the houses and they won't fix it or say what's wrong but they'll want you to put in an application immediately. Their office is hard to find and they are reluctant to answer calls. I was able to get a key to view a house and there were broken windows and thin walls that were just slathered with paint to cover up any dirt or damage. They said they would fix it but it would be after we moved in. They aren't credible.

Experiencia negativa: This slumlord company is very aware of its issues with the houses they rent out. They do not care about their tenants and try to break the law in order to keep people in a lease. I am building a case against them currently and have been in contact with code enforcement and contacted the BBB. They are childish and rude. They ignore your calls and want to get all mad whenever you prove to them that they are the ones in the wrong. I’ve never in my life even imagined a company existed where they can just rip you off and think they can get away with it. Scammers scumlords and unprofessional. They are trying to trap me in a lease whenever the house has tons of issues I’ve only been here for a month and had to fix hundreds of things already the plumbers came twice and they don’t care to fix issues that were supposed to be taken care of before moving in. Do not use this company ever.

They are full service and did a great job with leasing and property management. They helped me to update some units and helped through the recent sale of the property. Experiencia negativa: Think Im going to have to contact BBB and the FBI about this company.. Applied well over a month ago and still havent gotten a response. They said the person that runs credit checks is a part time worker, then the holiday hit. now theyre training new employees. I am attempting to move from a different state and need housing in place before I up and leave my current home. They havent even called my landlord yet and again its been a month! Based off the reviews it seems they are running scams to get those application fees and have been for years now. Not a good look. I will be contacting BBB the FBI and my bank to get my money back. Ill apply somewhere thats actually trying to fill units that are listed for rent. having to call private to get a answer is not it.

Experiencia negativa: Took my application fee for $90, Bad attitudes, denied me and my husband, the reason didn’t make sense to me. I don’t believe they even pulled my husband & my credit either. At first they said a duplex I was wanting to rent was rented and the lady needed to come in and finish paper work, then all of a sudden the next day they started working on my application. Didn’t even ask if I was interested in another property. I Couldn’t even get the leasing agent or whoever was working on my application to return my call on a few questions I had after leaving several voicemails and asking for a return call. They do NOT communicate to the applicant. They sent me to the collection department when I was just trying to get an update on my application , they don’t know fair housing either and how to treat people Judgmental behinds.

Experiencia fantástica: Had nothing but a great experience from start to end. During the application process, they had a list of different homes that were in my budget and helped step by step. The couple of times a repair was needed to the home(hurricane was cause)it was completed within a day. Christian was very kind and understanding with my needing to terminate early. Will definitely look at their homes if I move back to the Mobile area

Experiencia negativa: First day I tried to move in the power pole was down so I had to move my date back…then the air went out 2 months living at one of there rentals it took them weeks to fix..they have a horrible problem with answering the phones or getting back to you at all if they do. Then towards the end I tried to resign my lease and they left a not on my door saying y they do not wish to resign then I have to live in my car for a month because I couldn’t find anywhere to live and after I moved out and found a place they decided to email me and tell me I could resign. This has to be the most unprofessional places Iv ever rented from. Nothing but problems since the day I moved in. Not to mention they changed management at least 3 times while I was living in there property. Horrible horrible place to rent from.

Experiencia negativa: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! This is a scam company at it's finest! My husband and myself did a pre-approved general application for this place. It took forever and a year for them to follow up with us and once I reached out they claimed they did not have our application on file, although we had conformation screen shots of the apps being completed. Once we got over that hump, shortly afterwards our applications were denied based off false information. They claimed they couldn't get in touch with our last landlord and we had lack of rental history with bad credit. Unfortunately, that was not all true and after speaking to the owner Doug, I hope he knows their actions were unethical and have been reported! Do not rent!

They love to remind and pester you about rent but when it comes to these raggedy units not working properly, they wanna take their sweet time to do something. I recently paid rent but yet I’m still getting CHARGED FOR NO REASON! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS. I said what I said. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! Experiencia positiva: The property is dirty, their repair staff was rude and unprofessional. The rent experts need to communicate better. Can’t say if they are a good company, but they were friendly. They did a few things I didn’t like, taking pictures inside my unit, not making repairs, and not doing what they said they would. But they were better than gulf belt, they were honest.

Experiencia fantástica: Very happy with my experience! The process to go see houses allows you some freedom to have an opinion and check a place out without someone hovering over you. You go downtown and pick up the keys and leave your ID and a small (returnable) cash fee to ensure the keys safe return. When finished checking places out, you bring the keys back and retrieve your ID and cash. Someone is always there to answer any questions or discuss any concerns you may have, but they’re not at all pushy. Which is THE best part! Also, they were easy going and able to keep you on file with all your parameters listed if they couldn’t find you what you needed at that exact time period. Overall, I appreciated their kind and helpful approach and will be headed back their direction when my mother moves to Mobile around the new year!

Experiencia negativa: What is a total hassle can you get to their offices once you get to the building. You have to go in the back way got the elevator go all the way to the opposite end of the building because one of the doors is closed and that doesn’t even take in consideration you have to get a key from them then take it to the property which could be gardeners work and then bring the key back to them

Experiencia negativa: I was called after four business days and told that I was pre-approved, but not for the property I applied for. They said they were going to give the rental to another applicant, though the property is still being advertised, and applications are still being accepted for it. No explanation was given. The lady on the phone told me she would send me an e-mail with other properties I might be interested in. She didn't, and I don't expect that she will. Nor would I even try to do business with them again.

Experiencia negativa: They never answer the phone and do not call back in the 24/48 hour time they say they do. I checked out 3 keys, drove 30 minutes away to the places and none of the keys worked. They said it was in the lock box because the locks must have been changed but again, they never answer the phones so I had to drive back to figure that out in which they still didn’t even have the codes to the lock boxes. How are you property management for a place and don’t have codes for lock boxes or enough trust with the owner to have keys changed on you last minute with no update? And this happened at multiple properties…Pictures are also super outdated and edited. The houses look VERY different from what is online. Some don’t look so bad but most are false advertising. Lastly, change the review filter from “most relevant” to “newest” and you will get a more realistic feel for their reviews……

Experiencia positiva: Hardly any rental selection. An abundance of applications taken for one property and you don't know where you stand on being selected as the rentor; but several people have paid their application fee and are hoping and waiting to hear if they have been selected for that property. My application wasn't even submitted for the property that I was interested in, I opted to have it ran and was told that a person who had applied for the property before me qualified for it. But when I inquired on how their process worked, I was told that all of the applications would be ran and the one with the best credits rating and other factors would get the property. But they will hold your application for 90 days if you happen to see a property that you're interested in during that time, I am assuming you would be first in line. Everyone there was very cordial and professional.

Experiencia negativa: I scheduled an appointment indicating that I would be flying in for the explicit purpose of viewing one of their managed properties. I was given an appointment time and told that a key check out was not available for this property. I arrive early and called 3 times to confirm. It was only after the 3rd call that somebody called me back to say that the manager overlooked the appointment. If I still wanted to see the house I'd have to come to the office, give a $30 cash deposit and my ID. The catch was that they would be closing and I'd have to get my money back the next day. I FLEW IN PEOPLE! I wouldn't be there the next day and quite frankly someone should have inconvenienced themselves to go to the house for the appointment. Also, they are not truly a local company. I got someone out of the country on one of my calls. 10/10 would NOT recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: My wife and I moved down from Birmingham Al for work, we got pre-approved with the Rent Experts, so we drove down looked at four houses in one day, we picked one and they handled the rest. We lived there for a little over two years. We had a hurricane come through town, and after contacting the maintenance department they were out there fixing minor fence and shingles damage next day. I would highly recommend them! Christian and Alexia were incredible, when it came to moving in and out, they worked with us and made the process smooth.
