If you want a buyer's agent who advocates for your interests with persistence and honesty, hire her. The original offer of $640,000 fell apart over a $3,000 gap. I proposed a three-way split: Shelly contributed $1,000 from her commission, the listing agent contributed $1,000, and I covered the final $1,000. Shelly agreed without hesitation. Her willingness to reduce her own commission to close a deal for her client shows you exactly what kind of real estate agent she is. The deal stalled for six to seven weeks because the listing agent, Stephanie, refused to facilitate a direct call between me and the seller. Shelly pushed for direct communication and tried to move the transaction forward, but she had no control over the other side of the deal. We revived the offer weeks later. I offered the price at $637,000. I phoned the owner, 3 days ago and directly on speakerphone, introduced myself through our family connection, and his first words were, "Why didn't you tell me before? Last time?" He had never been informed I wanted to speak with him. The earlier blockade came from the listing agent, not from Shelly and not from the seller. After closing, I asked Shelly point blank whether my request for direct communication had been passed along to the listing side. She confirmed she had relayed the request to Stephanie. The seller's account proved Stephanie had withheld the information. Here is what set Shelly apart: She offered $1,000 from her own commission to close a $3,000 gap. She communicated openly and answered hard questions after closing, including ones where the answer reflected poorly on the other agent involved. She respected my decision to walk away the first time and did not pressure me into a worse deal. She handled the second offer cleanly, and the closing went through without issues. If you want a real estate agent who looks out for your money and tells you the truth, even when the truth is uncomfortable, hire Shelly Matos. The outcome shows her value: a $637,000 home purchase, finalized six to seven weeks behind schedule because of obstacles created by the listing agent, closed only because of Shelley's persistence. If I could give Shelley 6 stars I would! However, I’d give Stephanie zero stars.

The sell our home in Amarillo, my son-in-law recommended Connie. Connie was very nice and easy to reach with questions that we had. She was able to determine the best price that we should ask for. She kept me apprised of all the showings and inquiries that were made. The sale went through very smoothly without any problems. As I said, Connie was always very involved and kept us up to date weekly, sometimes daily and I would recommend her to anyone looking to sell their house.

We reached out to Shelley, who gave us great options and spent time vetting properties based on our budget and criteria. We appreciated her responsiveness and ability to adapt while we were seeing places. For example, one of the houses we saw met most of our criteria, but had smaller 2nd and 3rd bedrooms. She helped us look at other houses in the neighborhood that were similar, and we found one across the street, which was the house we ended up buying. I think having a clear idea of what we wanted and what our top priorities were also helped her customize the properties we toured to fit our needs.
