My Mom moved into an Independent Living facility in September 2024 so we needed to sell the house that my Mom and Dad built in 1997. Our Family had many wonderful memories in that house and there were 88 years of accumulated treasures that had to be moved out. I live in Midland, MI and was unfamiliar with the Real Estate scene in Ypsilanti, so I interviewed 6 local Realtors to find the best one that satisfied my requirements of getting the most money for the house and selling it within 1 month. Mary Jo’s realtor experience, successful sales history in Ypsilanti, assessment of Mom’s house & market conditions, recommendations for house preparations, strategic marketing plan (website, social media, professional photography, open house, etc.), communication plan, schedule, sales support team organization, digital lockbox, and extensive list of vendors to help prepare mom’s house for sale differentiated Mary Jo from the competition. I leveraged the Carpet Cleaner, Window Repair, and Landscaper from Mary Jo’s extensive very helpful vendor list. Mary Jo had a realistic perspective of the value of house in the current uncertain chaotic economic environment that we find ourselves in along with the time of year the house was being listed and proposed a listing price that would sell the house in 1 month. The sales support team was outstanding. Kelly Stone and Kandace Fredrick were very helpful and would always pick up my calls on the first ring and have answers for my long-distance questions. The professional photographs & videos on social media sites were outstanding. As Mom’s house was on the market for almost one month, we didn’t have an offer, so I met with Mary Jo to determine a price reduction. Right before we were going to lower the price, we got an offer for slightly less than the asking price. I consulted with Mary Jo and decided to accept the offer. Everything went exactly as planned with no surprises. For the Closing, Mary Jo made arrangements to meet at Mom’s Apartment for her signatures. Fantastic experience: When we sold August 2025: Let me encapsulate our regard for Mary Jo's realty skills in seven words: "smart, sensible, savvy, proactive, and deeply experienced." Although we are Boomers, we never sold a house before. Rank amateurs, but chock full of questions, we peppered her with queries. She peppered us back (a good thing!) and proved willing & able to move as quickly as we could towards a successful sale. How refreshing to hear her comment on things like, "I know this buyer's agent and he wouldn't push unless it really bothered the buyer..." A positive experience all the way through the bumpy sales process. We recommend her without qualification. When we bought in 2021: Why did we want to buy a house in Ann Arbor? That's a long story. Fantastic experience: My experience with Stephanie Roberts, Realtor with the Bouma Group, was excellent from start to finish. Stephanie was carefully attentive to my ‘wish list’ and promptly notified me when homes meeting my search criteria became available. Stephanie was dependable, knowledgeable, and conscientious. When we agreed to meet at a certain time, she had already arrived early to open the home, turn on lights, etc. She had familiarized herself with the home, and knew details regarding utilities, taxes, safety features (such as radon detector), deck composition, flooring, countertops, and highlight features of the home. Aside from her expertise as a Realtor, Stephanie was pleasant, supportive, congenial, and easy to work with. It was clear that she focused on my needs and wishes, as the client (not simply on selling a house). After House #1, she picked up on the type of features that were important to me. She facilitated completion of all paperwork via email (Docusign) since I was buying from out of state. Fantastic experience: Jeremy was professional from the start. He was referred to us by a friend. We had also been speaking with another realtor in the area. The difference was apparent rather quickly. Jeremy was more proactive in reaching out to see how we were doing and also gave his thoughts on properties hitting the market, rather than just letting the automated emails do their thing. He led us to an off-market home, which we ended up buying. That probably would have never happened if we continued working with the other realtor. The closing process was rapid, and Jeremy did a great job communicating deadlines and trying to represent me the best he could.

Brent helped us through our second home purchase and first single family home purchase. The house we ended up buying we only casually saw, and did not plan to buy in that timeframe. He encouraged us to do so so that we could continue to learn more about the area. We fell in love with a non turn key home that required a lot of work. There is always a lot flying around online about what makes an offer "competitive". Brent brings regional insight into what sellers are looking for and helped us craft an offer that outcompete 3 other offers.
