Experiencia negativa: MOLD! I could go on and on about everything that was terrible about my experience as a renter, but the most significant was extremely high levels of mold in my rental that FirstKey Homes failed to ever acknowledge or remediate, even after I sent them a copy of a 3rd party mold inspection report and the accompanying lab analysis report. I moved out after 6 weeks. It cost me a lot of money (moving, throwing out many of my belongings, and oh yeah, the mold inspection they said they would reimburse me for but never did) but I wouldn’t risk my health. I’m including screen shots of a couple pages from the lab analysis so you get the idea. If you’re considering renting from them, do yourself a favor & run the other way.

Experiencia positiva: I wish the local office was more reachable. The call center staff is nice and professional. But they hit limitations that only local offices can manage. Therefore it makes for ver frustrating times when resolutions cant be had in a timely manner. First key has taking pretty good care of me, sometimes I just wish there was more urgency on certain situations. Debamita Dalal helped me even more today by helping process my transfer to a new location.

Experiencia negativa: I was initially excited about renting from FirstKey Homes because of the convenience they offer, especially with utilities handled by the management team. I had rented with them once before and experienced a serious issue with squirrels or rats in the attic. Although they sent people out to inspect it, the problem eventually became unbearable and forced me to move. About two years later, I decided to give them another chance. This time, I was extra careful when viewing the property and made sure to check for any openings or signs of pests. I immediately fell in love with the home — particularly the fireplace and its beautiful placement in the living room — and felt confident I was making the right choice. Unfortunately, less than a month into my lease, I discovered what sounded like an aggressive animal trapped inside the wall near the fireplace. It was hissing, rattling, and desperately trying to escape. I was terrified. I called FirstKey Homes right away to report the emergency and stressed the urgency, explaining that if the animal died in the wall it would create a terrible stench and potentially attract other pests. I was told they would contact a third-party vendor on my behalf, but I never received a follow-up that day. The noise woke me up again the next morning, prompting me to call back — only to learn that my original report had been documented incorrectly as “rattling in the fireplace,” with no mention of an animal or the need for immediate pest control. I was extremely frustrated that such a serious concern had not been properly recorded or prioritized. I created another request, now on day two of the animal being trapped in my wall, and repeatedly pleaded with representatives to send pest control as soon as possible. While the people I spoke with sounded empathetic, their actions did not reflect any real urgency. I spoke with multiple representatives and even supervisors, all of whom said they could not expedite the situation because they had to wait for a specific department to contact the vendor. By day three, I still had not heard from anyone, and the animal had stopped making noise — leading me to believe it likely died inside the wall. Being in a home for less than a month and already facing something this distressing has been incredibly upsetting. It was frightening to hear how aggressive the animal sounded, and heartbreaking to know it was trapped for days without help. This experience has completely changed my perception of FirstKey Homes. The lack of urgency and coordination in what I consider an emergency makes me deeply regret renting with them again. It has left me anxious about the possibility of a dead animal just feet away from my living space and concerned about how future issues might be handled. I truly hope to hear from them before there is a smell, but regardless of the outcome, this situation has eroded my trust. Based on how this emergency has been managed, I would not choose to rent with FirstKey Homes again. Side note: being that they would probably have to cut into the wall, I could not contact pest control on my own being that I’m not the home owner. This was explained to representatives, and did not matter.

Experiencia negativa: Entire renewal process has been a nightmare. Had to get on the phone with them upwards of 10 times over the course of the last month as well as having multiple 20+ email chains. Phone line whenever I call has a massive delay, causing communication to be difficult and irritating. Finally finished everything to the point I think we can sign, but it shouldn't take this long to process a few adjustments and having me drive the ship, ya'll should drive the ship throughout this process. Felt like I was having to figure things out for them because of how disorganized it all was on their side. All I was doing was changing 2 people on the lease to 2 new people, and we have had to go through a million hurdles just to do that. Each step of the way, I had to call to get follow-up information. It shouldn't be this hard. When the renewal team made an error and put one of my new roommates name misspelled as a new tenant, I corrected them instantly, but still that non existent person ended up on our lease renewal. I reached out to have that fake person removed, and they said I had to do ANOTHER form, for THEIR mistake. I refused and they allowed me just to send an email stating that I wanted this person removed. Why even bring up the form then? Unrelated to my renewal process, and moreso related to First Key in general, they don't give their technicians when doing service requests the equipment nor the time to do the job right. I had rotting planks on our porch, and they instead of replacing the planks, just covered it with ply wood that has since started to fall apart completely, and the underlying planks continue to rot. Once my new lease is signed, I'm going to submit a new ticket for this issue plus other planks that are rotting, and staircases that railings have come completely unscrewed, we'll see how they do. We are amazing tenants, always paying our rent on time or early, never having issues, no issues with neighbors, nothing. And this is the treatment we get for that? Its downright wrong. Hopefully they can make it better, but at this time I doubt it sadly.

I have attempted to view available properties through the First Key rental application platform, but I have encountered a significant issue. My account appears to be 'paused,' which is preventing me from accessing and viewing any listings. Could you please provide guidance on how a current tenant can properly view properties for a lease transfer, and specifically, how this technical issue with my account can be resolved? Furthermore, I would like to share some observations regarding the customer service experience during this transition period. As a long-standing tenant, I had anticipated a more streamlined and appreciative interaction. I have found myself being asked to provide information repeatedly that I believe should already be accessible within my existing tenant file. This has unfortunately created a feeling that my five years of tenancy are not fully acknowledged or valued, and it adds unnecessary friction to what should be a more efficient process for a loyal customer. Experiencia negativa: My wife and I contacted First Key Homes and January 5 Monday representative told us that the house was available. On January 6, Tuesday we call first key Homes representative told us the house was not available On January 10 Saturday we received a phone call from another agent of First key Homes Miss Rhonda informed us that the house is still available She informed us once we submit our application paid $110 application fee. The house would be removed off the market until approved. We submitted our application paid $110 application fee on the same Saturday on Sunday, January 11. We received a call. The house had been lease by someone else. We don’t understand if we paid our application fee in the house is removed from the market. How could it be leased by someone else? On Monday, we called first key home requesting application fee. They told us it was nonrefundable. This seems to be a very dishonest practice that First key Homes would not refund our Application fee especially considered after lying to us regarding the process.Frist Key Homes ( not to be trusted ) Buyer beware. !

Experiencia negativa: 329 Deep River Road--Update-moved out 9/16/24..House sold 8/2/24(while I was still living there and was given no notice). Gas meter still broken and tampered with by FirstKey and 3 snakes found. Before renting this home, have code enforcement inspect it!! I moved into this home July 28, 2023. First day issue- walls not painted or painted in a different color, carpet not cleaned, dishwasher molded, stove dirty-not cleaned by the last person, gas pipe exposed in the master bedroom, sink drains clogged with hair(blue, blonde, and red). Currently water does not turn on for the kitchen sink unless you go under the sink and press it in. Stove broken going on 3 months and promises to replace the stove never happened. Water leak under the kitchen sink and I was told by the tech it will be fixed. Two Graves found in the back yard. Gate to fence is completely gone and rotted. Water line leading to the outside is starting to raise the flooring from the back door to the kitchen sink. Dishwasher rack have no pins to hold dishes. My dryer that I only had for 2 years had to be replaced due to vents clogged. Ac filters never replaced. So many issues and I keep getting the run around but I can not use things in the home that I pay for. Update 5/12/24.. Still no stove. Tech keeps calling and stating I am getting a new stove but 4 months later-nothing! Leaks not fixed and gas line has had 2 techs come out and is still not repaired. My neighbor stated the gas line has been an issue since First Key bought the home this year.

Experiencia negativa: First Key Property Management (FKPM) in particular 77 turnrow ct. The stairs are also never fixed and they fall if you step wrong on it. is an unprofessional and irresponsible organization. I had an extremely negative experience renting with this organization. I had multiple problems with my rental property, including a month without heat and inadequate cooling in the summer. In response to these issues, FKPM failed to address them in a timely manner and showed a disregard for my comfort and safety. Despite my efforts to communicate with FKPM, they did not provide necessary repairs or accept alternative solutions. Overall, I would strongly advise against renting with FKPM, as they do not meet basic expectations of professionalism or customer service. We never had heat when it was coldest never had ac when it was hottest etc. Also update as of 8-13-25 The stairs are still wobbly amd we were put of the property and this is when they have tried charging us for already cleaning the property "pressure washing" and so much more. We were out before June 26th 2025. (No they never did anything in a timely manner and the fact you guys made the news because basically every house was without heat in the dead of winter or the ac in the middle of summer says something about your alleged "timely manner")

I took a look at recent work orders and all were addressed as quickly as possible, especially in regard to HVAC concerns. There have been no work orders created for any stairs concerns at all.

Experiencia negativa: They will rush you into a lease then go silent unless you bombard them with emails and calls reminding them of their legal responsibility to provide a habitable home. Their employees are incompetent, no one knows whats going on despite heavy documentation. Their call center, which is the only place you'll be able to reach, doesn't document maintenance orders properly causing further delays. When maintenance and the rare occasion a vendor show up they act as if they dont know what to do. They show up asking 100 questions as if they have never seen the work order and rarely does anything get fixed the first time. It's over a month and I still have no ac and it's been hot!!! They dont care that using your kitchen heats the whole house and without ac it's impossible to cool. I've been in their home 5 months and have yet to go a full week without maintenance issues...and not the simple ones. I've had 2 gas leaks that I had to fight them to fix, a hole in the roof that I had to push them to actually repair, the sewage line dug up that i had to push them to fix after going without water for a week, 2 different water leaks, tree limbs overhead needing to be cut and damaging the roof, they gave me a lawn full of debris and trash, and when the vendors and maintenance leave they leave trash, the attic didn't have sufficient insulation, the water heater went out the first couple weeks and they never changed the filter amongst other things!!!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR RESIDENTS. LIVING IN THEIR PROPERTIES WILL COST YOU FINANCIALLY!!!!! IVE LOST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND THE GAS LEAKS AND STRESS HAS MADE ME SICK. AND YOU GUESSED IT...... THEY DONT CARE!!! And yes the maintenance people are nice but the company overall needs a major overhaul! Get a system that communicates with every department. The address is RODEO CT - the home is not worth the rent. Scott let's not LIE. - you all only respond when formal letters are sent. And the most communicating i got was being harassed about renewal. I literally had to tell yall to stop calling me!! And the accidental 5 starts absolutely wasn't for firstKey it was for that 1 maintenance man. FIRSTKEY has NEVER deserved 5 stars!!! They dont even deserve to be in business! Get this now they are attempting to charge me 800 for nail holes that were repaired and cleaning. Mind you i left th home in such a good state that they are putting it on the market on the 8th less than a week after i moved... not even waiting until my lease actually ends. My inspection was Wednesday December 3rd and the home is available to view as of this morning Saturday December 6th. My lease is technically up December 16. Double charging should be illegal! THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!! AND YES I HAVE PHOTOS.... Update. No surprise they still don't communicate effectively. After moving they refuse to address the predatory fees for cleaning and nail holes. The home has now gone from 1790 to in the 1500s. It's still not worth that for rent. I'll post the emails as proof. I wouldn't rent from them! There are better companies.

Experiencia negativa: Zero - first sent out notice of a rental increase literally on christmas day. What makes this even worse, we have been waiting since Nov 13th for them to take action on their home we are living in that is full of mold! We sent them our mold test, pictures, notified them and it took a month for them to respond and all they did was send someone that poured bleach on a couple areas and said I have to speak to my supervisor. Property manager is unresponsive. This home is falling apart and not taken care of yet they keep raising the rent second year in a row. Terrible experience!

Experiencia fantástica: Honestly I’m still new here so I remain a little skeptical, however I’ve been dealing with first key homes for a few days now and they have been very responsive, polite and helpful. I’ve had very poor experience in the past with rental agencies but I’m hoping this one continues the way it has been. At 9:00am on the dot agent Aritri answered my phone call and my questions. She was very patient understanding and polite. Just recently at 2pm I called again and spoke with agent Jhilik and she answered all my questions to the best of her ability (I’m impatient and was probably asking too many) but she was polite and helpful throughout! So far it’s been refreshing! Hopefully I get the opportunity to rent through this company and I will update then!

Experiencia positiva: First Key is a great option to view and tour homes. They are very helpful and customer service is great. We recently applied for a home and Itisha called the next day to assist with items.

Experiencia fantástica: Just needed to speak to a leasing agent about a property before we moved in. Anup was great with letting me know the property was still available and also giving me a refresher on the property as well. Also he provided me with the number to my local leasing agent who is assigned to me. It was wonderful help. I appreciate it. Cant wait to move into our new home.

Experiencia positiva: Cristy, was well appreciated. She did what she said she was going to do in a timely manner. She contacted management to get us a better price on the rent. And then remained on the phone with use to help sign the lease electronically. Just in cause we ran into any problems. Thank you Cristy for all your help. We appreciate you….

Experiencia fantástica: Cristy Lumapas was absolutely accusing we did not understand why our tent was being increased so much but she patiently helped to work out a plan sent to the higher leadership and called us back to inform us they have worked out a deal that will allow us to remain in our house. It’s the holiday season and what a wonderful way to celebrate. Also we walked through the lease renewal with me and my sister until it was completed. She’s had been the best agent we’ve experienced since renting from First Key.
